  • Vinyl Community, I'm taking you with me as we thrift for vinyl records. Record collecting on a budget in 2022. You can never have too many records! I'm taking YOU into the stores shopping for records WITH ME. Thrift Stores, Antique Stores, Flea Markets, etc. You'll be there Riding Shotgun as we scour the countryside looking for places to buy vintage vinyl records! You'll be there as I find cool records, or even if I don't. I'll show you how to find places to find vintage vinyl records. I'll show you what to look for. How to thrift for records like a pro. How to find cool used vinyl records for a fraction of the price. Much cheaper than Discogs. Secondhand stores can be a great place to find records for much cheaper than online. And, If you don't find records at the thrift store, Don't Give Up! Often you have to visit multiple stores multiple times!

    Thanks Tuco for your honesty. Patience and a strong drive to go through alot of fails. The reality is that we are living in tough times and the future will be even tougher. Flea markets and Antique Stores will always have vendors that will start dropping prices or even have clearance prices. They want out due to financial constraints. This is where the LUCK comes into play by BEING AT THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME. I've missed this opportunity a couple of times in the past.

      I guess this means i need to be beatin' the streets even more! I should check the large antique malls in the Omaha area more...that's where I'll probably see more people having sales, getting out of their booths!

    Another cool vid, Tuco! I like the fails as much as the scores. I like seeing records being flipped through, you never know what’s next. The familiar faces or something new or a winner. Cheers, Jon

    It is always worth it for me to check 2nd hand stores and have had a lot of great finds over the past 2 months, but people have to remember that not every thrift store is going to be a "zinger"! I strike out more than I don't, but when I do have a big find, it makes it all worth it, especially on a limited budget. Thanks for taking us with you again.

    Those who say they never find records have no patience and persistence. I hit the thrifts 3 times a week, and don't always find anything...but when I do, it's great. Found a 1980 Insect Surfers LP yesterday morning, and I'm in Canada! My copy of Plantasia was found in a thrift, and was one dollar!! Digging your vids, it shows the reality...keep em comin'

    • @VinylHunter
      @VinylHunter  Před 2 lety +1

      I think the people i hear it from probably only stop by a thrift store on rare occasions...& on that visit there were no good records...but persistence pays off! I found a few records today (including Twisted Sister) at a thrift store I've been to dozens of times and never found anything there before...

      @@VinylHunter For sure. I have many on my route where there will be nothing decent for weeks, then something amazing will turn up. Thrill of the hunt and the allure of finding interesting music. Cheers!

    I've had that happen where GPS takes you to a residential area. Some towns have duplicate street numbers, where one address will be something like 810 East Oak Street, and the duplicate is 810 West Oak Street. I believe sometimes the GPS takes you to the wrong one.
    That Jan & Dean record you passed by was a good example of a practice shady record companies used back in the day. Only four of the songs on that album are actually by Jan & Dean, and they were probably re-issues from early in their career. But, the packaging was designed to fool the consumer into thinking the entire album was by the artist.

    • @VinylHunter
      @VinylHunter  Před 2 lety

      I'll have to check and see if St Paul has East and West streets. I doubt it because it's so small...but, since it's so small it'll only take me a minute to look!
      I know what you mean about that Jan and Dean record. That's a very common practice for Budget labels.

    Just subscribed! I have yet to find a channel that shows both the hits and misses of thrifting for vinyl. I have had MANY MORE misses than hits, yet all these channels I follow only seem to have success. Thanks for the quality content. My personal favorite record I’ve found at Goodwill is Alabama’s Feels So Right
