- Sebastian Aho and Brady Skjei provided all the offence needed with two first period goals and Frederik Anderson dominated in net turning aside 31 of 32 shots as the Carolina Hurricanes edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1.

Woll and Anderson were the Stars of this game. This was a masterclass in being a goalie.
Anderson at the end of the 2nd. As a goalie myself, we feel every pad tap of recognition. Greatest position in sports.

Honestly it was quite close. Lot of good looks on both sides with canes a little bit better especially andresen and ofcourse leafs gassed after oliler. Still a very good game.
@@DavidDolus I mean the Leafs being gassed isn’t much an excuse when the refs were very curious not to call penalties the Leafs committed due to being gassed. Leafs got away with a lot more than the Canes got away with. Lazy stick control leading to countless high sticks committed by the Leafs and holding and hooking calls that the Canes were called on but the Leafs were allowed to get away with.
Woll and Anderson both played out of their mind. Sure the Leafs had a level of disadvantage with this being a back to back but it’s not like they were playing that rested of a team since the Canes only had one day off after their own back to back with both of those games going to extra time.
Back to back game after a physical game last night with travel in a different time zone. It was always going to go down this way for The Leafs.

В целом состав у Каролины получился один из лучших. Он и молодой. И с молодыми талантами. Ждём Каролину сначала в финале конференции. Мистер Андерсен и Кочетков - также готовы.
The Canes were lucky to win the last meeting against the Leafs, but they were definitely the better team in this one.
Every 'contender' in the EC are better than the Leafs - also, Toronto can't beat 'non-hockey' market teams. They're just a money machine that suckers their fans into buying their merchandise and support. Every Leafs fan is a sucker.

Woll an absolute monster. Andersen very good too. Fun game with many good looks. Could have been anyones game even though canes were a bit better did a good job shutting out AM and it was visible leafs were gassed after oilers game day before.
Woll gave them a chance to win. Maybe they can figure out how to be "frantic" earlier in the game and for longer.

Особенно это проявлялось стоило кому-то из ведущих нападающих (Ахо, Свечников, Теравяйнен, Нечас) получить травму. Сейчас же после недавних обменов у Каролины есть качественное усиление в атаке, появилась завидная глубина в нападении, например Теравяйнен сейчас играет не в 1 звене, как раньше, а в 3 звене. Плюс Андерсен набрал форму и уверенно стоит в воротах. В таком состоянии Каролина может в плей-офф обыграть любую команду на Востоке, и думаю, что именно сейчас Каролина готова пройти очень далеко в плей-офф, как минимум дойти до финала Востока.

They had a back to back after a super physical game agaibst The Oilers with Travel into a different Time zone with no home ice advantage. Plus the game started an hour and half earlier than usual.

Woll played well. Why on earth is 78 in the line-up? He was weak and genuinely stupid on the first goal. Next, it’s not a smart move to take the goalie out and have a penalty advantage. Not a percentage move. In sum, out hustled again.

Yeah they kept letting the Leafs high stick and called soft calls on the Canes. The boarding call against the Canes wasn’t even boarding since Svech hit the dude’s side and not his back.
When you need the refs to decide the game, you don't deserve to win.

Effective immediately, players can’t sit on boards awaiting line changes. A team will get warning first, then refs will be instructed to apply penalty that’s already in rulebook. NHL feels it’s not good hockey + dangerous. Linesman was cut by skate in Wild-WPG game by a Jet

Refs won this game.
Having an incredibly physical grinding game with the Oilers, a back to back game with an early start and travel.
Plus the refs were basically in the bag for the canes calling ridiculous penalties. It was clear with the non call on one of the few leafs powerplays, it was purely to ruin their momentum. So of course they looked haggard, plus all of those near misses around the second period, it was clear to the leafs that it was over from the start.
Yay Canes, not.
Why does the cane's arena have a piss yellow tinge on the lighting.

Announcers talk more about the 'Canes, Hope for the 'Canes, talk like the 'Canes have won even while the Leafs are pressing with time left. On a Toronto broadcast! Watch almost any other team's home announcers. They will at least cheer for, and promote their own team. These morons seem happier for the opposing teams EVERY night.

He kept the Leafs in the game and it really just came down to the goaltending and defense. The Oilers outshot but they played awful defense and weren’t bailed out by their goaltending. Woll bailed out the Leafs countless times and if it wasn’t for them the Leafs would have been blown out.

I think it is time for a coaching change ... Liligrunt playing PP & Pk while Reilly sits on the bench... Unbelievable. Keefe has been graced with 4 of the top players in the league and can't find a way to harness that power. And why is Benoit sitting out???? A team that sorely lacks physical defence sits one of the two guys not afraid to hit and maybe more importantly, can actually take a hit without spending the remainder of the game in the dressing room. Keefe has brought the Maple Laff's back...

I will say this, the Leafs have no power play. I mean, they suck on the PP! If we had last years coaches, this team is sooo much better than last years and would have ate Carolina’s lunch! Also, the Leafs did well. First game where they pull their goalie and do not get scored on. Nice. Leafs are getting better tho. Also, wtf? Why put in Brodie after last game where the Leafs handily annihilated Oilers? All in all, the Leafs do not have the proper management and assistant coaches to win.
