I agree with Gary that the mentality was the issue in the final run out. But note that City isn’t a team like teams in the 2000s. Arsenal would’ve had to have been perfect the run out to beat City. Yes we failed but every season we’ve improved and are still improving. So yes, I’m upset that we failed to win the Prem but I’m excited for next season.

Saliba went down, it changed the way the team set up and because of it partey just disappeared. Their midfield looked completely suffocating the first 75% of the season, but when Holding came in then the back 4 sat back farther which hurt the press, the spacing, and allowed other teams to have much better possession.

@@brianfuller4258 Part of this is that we’re a touch ahead of schedule, which is a good thing. Now that we’re at this point, the question is how many windows will it take to build up the team to be robust enough to compete in the Prem and for all of the cups. You have to assume that we won’t have a perfect summer window even with proper backing.

Terry, Arsenal challenged City for the league. Now, I wanted to win the Carabao cup. But challenging for the title is a far bigger endeavour than winning the carabao cup and finishing 4, 25 points behind. Is it a success winning the carabao? Yes. Would you want to have challenged for the title this year? Yes. ManUtd had the talent and the coach (according to most Utd fans) to put a challenge more so than Arsenal could.

Hi Terry, love your work. Two thoughts for you.
    1) Yes, there are mental weaknesses in Arsenal's team, but that cannot be totally separate from other factors. IF Saliba and Zinni had stayed fit, their competencies could have had an impact physically (on the ball etc) which has a knock on affect on the feeling of the team being successful. GN isn't incorrect, but I to just label it as mental weakness is oversimplifying what is far more complex.
    2) Arsenal have had a 'better' season because, we got way closer to playing the sort of football we want to, fairly consistently. We are closer to our end goal re: style, footballing ideas etc and we have been realising some of those. I dont believe Utd have evolved as much and therefore, the season hasnt been as good. But sure, you can say it's been a more 'successful' season.

Us losing twice vs City isn't the reason we threw away our lead at the top or the title though, it was the games vs Liverpool (2-0 up), West Ham (2-0 up), drawing TWICE vs a now relegated Southampton, drawing away at potentially relegated Everton, and getting battered at home against Brighton. Even after losing twice vs City, we should/could now still be sat top with several points cushioning us. Partey/Jorginho have the same profile with Rice, it's just age difference, and that's not what Arsenal needs.. get those two players, we will never be grilled the way Brighton did us, and that's the end of Klopp's dominance and teaching the league how to press us, it ends, and with that, we can play all profile games, high, slow, tactical games, because the personel will fit the profile, that's what we need in the CM positions, or else we'll still struggle next season

United don’t need money pumped into the team, you already have that. You need a new training centre and a new youth academy. Your club doesn’t have the fundamentals to be a great club again. Next season you’ll get a striker and yes maybe challenge but it won’t be special because that will be shrouded by Mason greenwood being allowed back at the club due to no fan push back.
Arsenal only need 3 top players and we will win next year. Whether that’s ANY cup in my opinion is key. Doesn’t matter if it’s the “tinpot” cup like other people say but it’s a trophy.
The only problem I have with united saying they have had a better season is, you have 10+ goal difference and been dreadful in the prem. so premier league season comparison you have been dreadful. Arsenal prem has been phenomenal compared to the start of the season where we said top 4.
Arsenal have had a better season purely on the fact the expectation was never this high.
United cup run was against lower league sides the whole way through and played a Newcastle side which isn’t that much better than united themselves.

If united win the fa cup then they've had a better season. I don't value the Carabao cup. League position and the fa cup and European cups are what I value. But that just my opinion. I won't hate on Man united fans for celebrating the Carabao cup. Sports is about celebration and finding things to celebrate is what's it all about.

I find it funny that people value the FA cup over the Carbao cup despite being essentially the same knockout format.. only because of the tradition. Even if they win the FA cup, we've had the better season at 247 days top of the table and 15 points clear... we're simply the better team. It can't be disputed.
They already own the 'on paper' better season... fair play... they have 1 trophy with another potential trophy... but would I trade my season for theirs? maybe historically sure.... but in the here and now no chance, finishing 2nd on this many points bodes well for our future... I'd much rather be in our position in this process than languishing in the EL CL spots.
Arsenal obviously had the better season... I define better in quality of play through the year with a big emphasis on the league and Europe... not so much the cups.

I'm a Chelsea fan n if I'm honest I'll say I'm really surprised to see how Arsenal has improved this year. Arteta did a remarkable job. But at the same time I don't like to hear these kind of excuses from some arsenal fans abt fatigue. Man Utd played more games than u guys ManCity still playing in Europe. Arsenal basically played one week a game so u can't use that argument abt fatigue. Excuses like this basically discredit all the good work arteta has done so far. So stop doing it. It was abt mentality issue. Which is quite normal considering the young squad arsenal has. And imo over the time this things will get resolved if u guys add some experience players in ur current squad.

Next season, Arsenal players can step on the pi5ch and believe they are the second best team in the league and they belong at the top. Its a different sort of self belief than winning a cup

You can’t compare that to a title race we went all in for yeah we lost but that’s gut and glory if you need that carabao cup to fabricate a non existent trophy just cos ya won a carabao cup ok bro ok bro. 😂 but yh you might flop ten hag might not go on to be in a title race your clubs going through owner transition so jury is still out on ya future at Utd only an idiot will disagree tbh 😂
