    I have had my BowTech General for fifteen years now. It’s heavier, longer and not quite as fast as the new bows, but it has proven to be absolutely reliable and has never failed. It fits like a extension of my body after shooting it for so many years. Not to brag, but it is lethal in my hands. At some point I will have to move on and acquire a new bow. But as long as the bow I have now keeps performing as it always has, I see no need to change bows. Call me old fashioned, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. By far the best bow I’ve ever owned. And I’ve heard the same about other bow brands. But nothing trumps practicing with the bow you have, regardless of brand, or type of bow. We as hunters owe it to the game we pursue.

    I’ve hunted 4 years with my old bow (Mathews mission) never had confidence to shoot anything past 20 yards. Finally had money to upgrade to the V3X and killed a buck within 2 months of owning it. That bow built my confidence and got rid of my target panic. I love my bow

      I think the point he was making was that you can only harvest one buck with your bow in MN even in the CWD zones. In the 600s you can harvest up to three bucks, one under each tag Archery, gun, or muzzleloader.... Jeff's right in that you can't harvest an archery buck under your gun or muzzleloader tag, but this should be addressed. I would think that the season or tag should represent the efficacy maximum as far as the allowable weapon. You can take a deer with a muzzleloader under a gun tag, so I would think you could use a bow to fill all 3 tags if you really wanted.

    • @roniler7960
      @roniler7960 Před 2 lety

      Here in the mitten you can,Just during gun or muzzle loader season have to follow all gun rules. But most here that hunt archery switch to rifle or muzzle loader for gun & the diehards switch back to bow after gun season.

    I'll be on my last bow season hunt Friday here in PA before firearms season. Might still be a few bucks chasing. I haven't hunted bow season in well over a decade and last year was my first year back hunting again in a long long time. Forgot how much I missed it! Unfortunately I had to have biceps reattachment surgery at the end of March. I didn't trust myself with a compound just yet so I am using my old excalibur crossbow that I've had in a box for years. Thanks for the great review. I'll be on the hunt for a nice compound for next year and Matthews will definitely be on the radar! Good luck in the PA gun season!

    Wish I could hunt with a compound but with these bad shoulder's I just can't do it! I use to though, I've shot with Terry Ragsdale ,Bill Eaperts, Toxie Hayes.... Once I got an 8 ring at 97 yards standing caribou down hill with my F1 maxis limited edition PSE! Just can't do it anymore with all the warm clothes on! I like my Horton 35 anniversary crossbow, sure it's old but I replace the limbs when needed! I've taken alot of nice bucks with it and a number of does and coyotes and even a gobbler or 2 lol even got a squirrel with it! I'm not letting a bad shoulder stop me from hunting!

And in my mid 20s I got a mathews monster chill r. Oh and end of last season hot a good deal on my first crossbow because I jacked my shoulder up and I figured it'd be a good way for my daughter to get into hunting

    Hunting with your quiver attached is a mistake that most rookies make. Reason 1 is that with your quiver attached and full of arrows, there's more surface area for the wind to hit, making it harder to hold steady. Of course, if you never hunt in the wind, it won't affect it. Reason 2 is that leaving your quiver attached makes the overall profile of the bow larger and adds more potential to brush against something, therefore making more noise. I'm speaking from experience. 42 yrs of bowhunting here.

    I understand what your saying about barn Burners by competing companies being less efficient vibration free etc. Residual vibration can lead to mods gradually coming lose and what not.You mentioned Halon Days and time traveled the topic back 30+ years. The Crosscentric cams were a break through for certain but all bows nowadays are built good some greater than others.That’s why Mathews is making accessories now cause they built a system that can’t get any better…. Adjustable mods that’s it but again that would take away from efficiency,Mark Hayes has a video on CZcams about that

Watched all your videos for beginners but l still didn't understand the adrenaline rush until I experienced it, arrow was nowhere near the buck fortunately. I appreciate all the info you provided to us. I learned a lot from you, can I request a video about what to do if you got busted or failed. How long before you can return to same tree stand, how far away to move to another location in same area, would another deer come to same trail? Keep up the good work.

  • @stormprooftraining2012

    I live in Hickman KY. My kids have been disappointed the past 3 years due to hunters from other states crowding us off our public land. We hunt public land because obviously we can’t afford to run from state to state hunting every other state.
    It’s a shame to see local hunters squeezed out of public hunting land by people who migrate from state to state and don’t even pay KY taxes. It’s hard enough to find a place to hunt without people who can afford to go way out of state to chase antlers. The 6 trucks parked near where we hunt today were all out of state, GA, LA, AL and one from TN. You just want to have a good time with your kids and teach them to hunt, but there’s people so obsessed that they don’t respect anyone else.

    So did they fix the issue where the strings pop off of the cams? I have 2 friends that raved about their new v3 this year and both of them had the chance at bucks of a lifetime. I asked why they didn't get them and both said the same answer. They pulled back, lined up, released and the strings popped off and sent arrows all jacked up. Seems to be an issue. If you aren't perfectly straight and perfectly behind the bow and it's slightly 'torqued' this is a high possibility according to the guy they bought them from. He also informed them he would no longer be carrying Matthew's at all because he has had numerous people with the same issue bring bows back and want something else and more reliable.

    I like the look of the 90s and 2000s bows. They still look like a bow to me. I am willing to give up some performance to have an older style bow. That being said I also use a crossbow lol

    You really cant bow hunt during gun season in minnesota?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před 2 lety +1

      You can not use a vertical bow with your gun license in MN. Just a crossbow. You can use a bow with your bow license during the gun season. But you can't use a vertical bow in place of your gun....like you can in nearly every other whitetail state.
