Eugene's Trick Bag by Steve Vai covered by Matteo Mancuso - Hudba
He’s Italian, from Palermo, Sicily.
(I’m Italian as well and a musician, here he’s well known since years and I was just waiting to see him conquer the world, it was pretty obvious to us all that he was going to 🤟
Thanks for sharing Matteo!!
LOL, he has done everything himself, but we are very proud of him 🙂@@michaelgoyettemusic
This is Pagani 5th Caprice.. Tina Setkic also played this pretty well when she was maybe 14 years old.. That video seems to have about 8 million views..
MM is a real artist, not a baby prodige, or a YT guitar player. He makes concerts, International tours, write a his own album. I saw him play live. He's absolutely stunning.
Great reaction Mike.
This guy is a freak.

🙏 💯
One of the first things you learn about Matteo when you encounter him is that he is from Palermo Sicily, Italy.
He was born in 1996, and his father, Vincenzo, is a classical guitarist.
He taught Matteo classical guitar, and when he switched to electric, he did not switch to using a pick.
His right hand. Wow.
1000%
I think we are looking at the next evolution of guitar player after Jimmie and Eddie , might be Matteo
I heard he does eruption!! I gotta see that next!
In rock, the next evolution after Eddie was Yngwie (regardless of how hated he may be). Matteo is several evolutions later, not really so much in rock, but in fusion. And then you have to consider Holdsworth, Frank Gamble, etc. In any case, Matteo's a genius!
He obviously is classically trained. What he is doing is common in Flamenco.
@@obiwancannabis8408 that’s true….but I’ve never seen anyone shred on an electric that way.
@@obiwancannabis8408 His father was a classical trained pro guitar player.
The movie phenomenal, the actors are superb and the storyline of the movie is so surreal it had a spiritual affect on all those that participated, even jack buttler
His tone is so spot on for this. Almost indistinguishable from Vai's sound in the movie.
What a trip! Mateo's from Sicily, I think, and coincidently, I've spent most of the day going through a bunch of his stuff. And now, just found your reaction, yo! (been practicing that right hand technique he's got...what a challenge.)
Wild! I studied classical guitar for a bit and never came close to that. Wow
@@michaelgoyettemusic Check out his version of Eruption--he does the technique of ring-middle-index fingers, in that order (always in that order) to mimic alternate picking on single string / alternate string....
Yo, definitely impressive. Technical chops!
I hope you'll be checking out some more of his work. It will be interesting to see one of his original compositions to delve into his more emotive playing.
MM is a real artist, not a baby prodigy, or a YT guitar player. He makes concerts, International tours, wrote a his own album. I saw him play live. He's absolutely stunning.
Please listen to his jazz videos, where he plays Coltrane or Charlie Parker stuff
Yea, just amazing unique player.
He's Italian from Sicily.. what a player!
Thanks for this, Michael - great overview and analysis. on a side note - We COULD see his right hand better if he and millions of others would realize that cell phones can be turned sideways (horizontally) for what some of us call a landscape profile.
Oltre a tanto allenamento, bisogna avere delle doti naturali,é un dato di fatto. Complimenti a Matteo.
Astonishing 🎼
Truth!!
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 amazing skills 🎉 yo Mike, happy 2024😊
It will take a new generation of musicians who will be able to copy his style. Someone who starts this fingerstyle at the age of 10.
In the movie Eugene was a childhood guitar prodigy who was in school at juliard for classical studies and the old man had no idea lol great movie, he figured out a different fingering to help make it less jumpy more economy of motion IMO
Yo Mike just a treat for the ears.
Love your insights. You should watch Rick Beato’s interview with him, really interesting. At the end he plays a piece that you could react to.
I wanna watch that but I wasn’t sure if I’d ruin my journey. 😂
I’ll think about it.
6:31 exactly! He was showing off lol
I don’t even have to check….it was the 5 string arpeggio? 😆
Mancuso is from a village outside of Palermo
Italy, Sicily, Palermo... just like me!!! 😎
Actually Matteo seems going a little more fast than the movie!
See that white piece of plastic between the puppies? He use that as a rest for the thumb... his finger style is half way between the flamengo guitar and the fingered bass, but he uses also his nails (long and hardened also with gel) to get the "pick attack".
In the movie the last note has big stuff underneath. Maybe yeah a 24 frets guitar... but some pitch shifting too and also some harmonizer stuff (Eventide H3000 at that time i think), and a lot of reverb tail.
Michael... check the "Drop D" video of Matteo... Man it rocks!
He did add that part, it wasn't quite as long in the original, but he made it better.
For your info. Matteo started to play Classic guitar at 10. Then he entered the conservatory. He is a musician and a guitar player.

Matteo, italian from the Island of Sicily. ❤
I thought ppl in Sicily had dark hair…..but I’m no expert. :)
Any kind of hairs, any colour. He is a Mediterranean young man.
He's really good. Not a patch on des o Connor though. Xx
Jack Butler gonna thank you !
You know what I’m talking about!! How many times have you watched that scene? 😂
he is from Palermo, Sicily
Awesome
Important to know that it is not Steve Vay who plays that part (Eugene's trick bag) but Ry Cooder. Steve Vay wanted to play it and they had an argument but Ry Cooder is the one. I'm sure about it, even saw a video of Vau talking about it.
Ry Cooder played all the blues guitar parts in the blues jam but the solo at the end is all Steve Vai Eugene trick bag. When the band is playing and there’s a jam that’s Ry Cooder.
Mancuso is italian 😎
Right! Thanks
Yo Mike, pretty cool.
He’s good
Great stuff. He’s fantastic. Bravo. Have you seen or heard him do EJ’s Cliffs of Dover?
[TIC]
But how do we know it’s real? Maybe it’s CGI or FX or a little AI! No I’m joking. This guy is the real deal! Cheers!
I haven’t yet but I definitely will. ✌️
Palmero Italy
Tim Hensen or Henson plays like that with about a thousand notes per bar. His band Polyphia has a song with Steve Vai.
Some of young guys are on the level with Eddie and Steve Vai, even SRV and Jimi.
But in forty years of playing, don't think I've ever seen someone play as fast as Tim...
I’ve never seen anyone pick every note with fingernails in this type of music before….he would have to master flamenco technique and learn all these rock licks and spend time putting it all together…..Tim is also wild for sure.
Hey Michael I put a request in the comments of one of your last videos - did you see it? Not sure how we get in touch with you as discord doesn’t seem to be very active lately. X
I went through unread messages and I don’t see it…
@@michaelgoyettemusic it’s on your Cruel Sea Black Stick (members only) video from 6 days ago. Anyway hope you’re doing well. I’ve been struck with the worst case of Covid- been out like a light for 7 days ! X KAP
@@michaelgoyettemusic here was DrKapp’s request czcams.com/video/G3CZONDdN5A/video.htmlsi=ZcTEhd6kcu7jaM-y
@@Dr_KAP my sister just had it. It’s nasty for sure. Get better!
@@michaelgoyettemusic thanks Michael yeh it sure is nasty
Italian 😅🎼
He's doesn't play pull off on open strings cause of the fret wrap, so he doubles it ^^
Oh right. I’ve never used one of those. Hadn’t thought of that
@@michaelgoyettemusic this is why he sounds so clean too
Doesn't Jeff Beck play with his right-hand fingers instead of a pick?
Yes but he doesn’t sound like he’s playing with a pick and he’s not playing lines that are written to be picked.
Well, to me is frankly surprising how Americans can confuse Italian and Spanish languages despite being probably more exposed to Spanish than Italians are.
Anyway, i thought everybody knows that Matteo Mancuso is Italian, so "he's not obviously Spanish" judging by his accent
You choose weird things to get angry about. ✌️
I thought Joe Satriani did that in the movie.
No that was Steve Vai
The correct pronunciation is like "mancuZo".
Ry Cooder played the trick bag. Not Vai
Incorrect. Only the blues jam with the band not the solo guitar part at the end. That is Steve Vai.
Ralph Macchio is just pretending to play
Matteo should be arrested and put under White House arrest for doing this
phrasing not to the style of music ... just linear sound no meat sound ... just technical ?
who cares...this was lame when Steve Vai played it originally
MY GOD .... this is hard to listen to. Maybe you could make a video without being stoned so that you can form a cogent thought and then express it in a coherent sentence. And we'd rather not watch you learn parts during your live taping and then realize that maybe Matteo played it correctly after all.
