I finally got around to participating in a game jam. One week. The theme: the game is a liar. Hmmmm. Yeah, instead of doing that, let's make an infinite platformer! I'm too lazy to make levels myself, so I employed a lil procedural generation to build the levels for me. The game surrounds a robot that can't find his friend Bill. Hop from platform to platform in an endless search for the elusive figure. WHERE'S BILL?
I had a lot of fun making this game; it feels good to get something "published" every once in a while. There are of course tons of bugs and issues with the game, like most levels being pretty boring. Oh well. - Věda a technologie
PLOT TWIST:the robot IS Bill, he lost his memory and everything he remembers is the name Bill, so he will search for him forever but never find him because he is searching for himself

I actually do like how you've used the idea that the game is lying. It's so subtle but effective how the intro sets you up to think that there's an ending but there just never is

Love the idea! The robot makes it seem like a dystopian city aesthetic may fit better than grassy hills, but that's just me. This is so cool!
That’s the best part, a dystopia by definition is populated. Grassland on the other hand, not so much…. thereby adding to the sense of loneliness, & hopeless of searching for someone who can’t be found

Me too! That was a great detail he totally forgot to mention! Also, background music kinda reminds me of C418, which is good because of what feel it gives the player! Kinda like endlessness and peace I guess, while also having that kinda lonely feel (which makes total sense since he's trying to find Bill)

What's even more unsettling is that the remnants of past robots don't disappear, which emphasizes the creepy endless aspect of the game in my opinion...
This gives off either “Its a simple game with deep meanings we will never know/understand” vibe or “it might be a simple game *at first* but i know this will become a horror game” vibe

I think what he means is that it is constantly adding new levels to every copy of the game. So basically it is like constantly updating the game for every single person, I think.

Better idea for tying in the prompt:
It’s procedurally generated, but there are menus formatted like those of games with designed levels (i.e. Angry Birds). In this way the game *lies* about its very nature, and the player is none the wiser, endlessly searching for the gateway to “Level 2”.

Actually I do kinda get that, gives off a creepy vibe to me
uncanny valley the robot gets anthropomorphize with the searching of his friend just a little too much like remember when the mars rover was like it's going dark, well this looks a little to much like a real life living and feeling robot, but not enough like a real life robot to fool us, so uncanny valley a thing that looks creepy because its so real but something small is off, gets put on something we anthropomorphize.
