  • Hundreds of Kenyan police officers arrived in Haiti this week at the start of a UN-backed security mission. The Kenyans touched down in Port-au-Prince just as their own country faced its worst unrest in decades. Their mission in Haiti is to try to curb the gang violence that has overrun the country.

@@tomhenry897 Haiti boasts the second longest Caribbean coastline after Cuba. and its basically almost untouched! stretching for approximately 1,771 kilometers (1,100 miles). Our coastline features a diverse array of landscapes, from pristine sandy beaches and rocky shores to picturesque bays and coves. The lengthy coastline offers numerous opportunities for tourism, fishing, and maritime activities. Additionally, Haiti's strategic position in the Caribbean makes its coastline a significant asset for trade and transportation. Haiti's potential also lies in its rich cultural heritage, vibrant art scene, talented musicians, fertile agricultural land, stunning beaches, unique biodiversity, historical significance, energetic youth, entrepreneurial spirit, untapped natural resources, potential for renewable energy, strategic location in the Caribbean, robust diaspora, and resilient community.

I was young and now i am old, yet I have never seen where law and order had been restored with more force or peacekeeping missions. Not in Afghanistan, south sudan, congo, yemen, libya, syria, somalia or any other nation on earth... I hope to be optimistic but going by history ,it going to end up as a failed mission... Time to NEGOTIATE and empower your citizens.... Only Hiatians can solve Haiti's problems.....

When asked about the UN attempts at restoring order in Haiti from 2004-2017, all this jounalist spoke of was that there were some human rights violations perpetrated by the peace keepers. What type of violations ? Can any be individually documented ? 10,000 killed. By who ? The peace keepers had responsibilty for killings ? These are not answers and the interviewer should have followed up.

The Kenyan police have begun a UN-backed security mission in Haiti to help curb the country's severe gang violence and restore order. Hundreds of Kenyan officers arrived in Port-au-Prince this week, with more police from 15 other nations expected to join them for a total force of 2,500.
The mission's mandate is to provide operational support to the Haitian National Police (PNH) by conducting joint security operations against gangs, securing key infrastructure, and ensuring safe access for humanitarian aid. However, the mission's exact rules of engagement and concept of operations have not been made public, raising concerns about transparency.
While some Haitians welcome the foreign intervention, many are wary given Haiti's troubled history with past UN missions. The success of the Kenyan-led mission will depend on how it relates to the Haitian government and civil society, as well as its communication strategy.
Ultimately, whether the Kenyan police can effectively end Haiti's crises remains to be seen. The mission faces significant challenges, including the entrenched power of Haiti's gangs and the country's complex political and humanitarian situation
