There's something reassuring to know that even film miniatures of Star Trek ships can suffer from decal yellowing...It happens to all of us...
I see some nacelle droop as well
@@keyboardt8276 I noticed that too…a homage to the original U.S.S. ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701) TOS model kits made by AMT back in the late ‘60s
REST IN PEACE 🙏 🪦 ACTOR JAMES SIKKING PASS AWAY AGE 90 He was Captain Star Trek 3 Lt.Hunter Hill Street Blues
Scotty did him dirty
Absolutely, 100% my very favorite design for a Federation starship across all series. Just gorgeous.
Love this ship But my favorite is the Intrepid Class. Voyager is my ship. I really need to pimp out my Intrepid class on Star Trek Online. LOL!!!
I love the refit Constitution, but this also holds a special place in my heart. FLY HER APART THEN!!!
strating bid.....40,000 XD
I’m a constitution guy myself. Yall saw Tomy has one coming out in August?
amazing piece, thanks for the in depth look but omg let the other guy talk!
Maybe the expert to the left should be givien some opportunity to get a word in edgewise.
The enterprise E always felt like the continuation of the excelsior line.
Did you see the USS Archimedes in Lower Decks? Perfect fusion of the two.
I believe John Eve's once looked at the Excelsior model and wanted to just drop the saucer right on the Engineering Hall and that kind of carried over to his orientation on The Sovereign class Enterprise E but a continuation I don't know if it's a direct continuation but it certainly is a blood relative of the same gene pool but with the modifications of the Enterprise b style Hall it kind of feels more like a galaxy-class sibling than in a sovereign
What do think about the excelsior 2 class?
What a magnificent model , I love the Excelsior .
Even on the Voyager episode, I always noticed this model has a flatter secondary hull.
Man what a piece of history
Watching this is heart attack inducing.
Your arms and hands flail all over the place with the same calm as a prop on a WWII bomber plane millimeters from this wonderful models.
Is there any way you could emphasize your points, with it being a guessing game when you’re going to judo cop off priceless piece of movie history?
perspective..he is well back
It's lovely to see this and the chat was really fun, but if you really want to "sell" it you need to show off the model itself some more! Let us see every detail from every angle; we ain't ever gonna own it so this is as close as we can get!!!!
You want a “motion picture reveal” to spank it. They should come up with shiphub.
@@alejandronopasanada5302haha yes exactly.
Yea, the mythbusters guy did a lot better showing off the Yamaguchi Ambassador model than they did here.
Always liked the Excelsior, though I think the flared hull additions the Enterprise B had made it that bit better.
They should have kept it for future appearances.
@@alejandronopasanada5302 the addons they made to the hull stayed in place and the Lakota in ds9 retained the flared hull around the deflector. czcams.com/video/dBmmlHR1Bwg/video.html&ab_channel=CReYPiUS
@@gerv55 While that did make my day and/because I didn’t notice it, what I meant was ALLLLL. Thats the entire dominion war…..wait…maybe they did, I doubt it. I think they should have changed the cgi model I guess is what it boils down to. Thanks for that. Of to go find more footage.
@@gerv55 I found this, the music is….enough that id consider making my own edit but…they didn’t keep the design

Lovely work of art, so pleasing to look at from every angle.
I really wish these guys would've stopped touching my ship.
Interesting indeed & yet I already have this in kit form from Marshall Models , what your seeing here is the 1/537 scale version , you can get bigger from the same place a 1/350 scale along with the Enterprise - B , both scales , "your call".
Yep I have them both I'm just waiting for my decals to arrive to get started 🖖
@@scifiguy26 I recently received my copy of the decals they are well done indeed , what I am finding how ever is some small movement in the parts supplied using different materials will do this as I have found giving it time to settle seems to be the best way.
@@garywood1973 great 👍 I received an email from Marshall he's sending my decals I'm almost finished the 1/650 Enterprise -E all the different materials used to make these models can be quite a challenge
Bro, let the man speak! I lost track of how many times you asked him a question and then interrupted him while he was answering.
Was thinking the same thing the poor guy was trying to speak and he was just talking over him absolutely disrespectful.
I am so impressed by pre-3d printing era models, such talent ❤❤
also sad to hear about passing of James Sikking, he was a Starfleet Captain just for a minute on Star Trek Verse but everyone knows him.
Very cool. I wish I could be at the auction to buy it. That model in particular is visually identifiable as the Excelsior model from Voyager. You can tell because its nacelles, while well aligned with each other, are not well aligned to the rest of the ship. They droop backwards. Which is a detail you can see in the Voyager episode "Flashbacks." So there's no doubt this is that model, at least in my mind.
One day we will have the technology to stop 'droop'.
The only thing I wish they had done with the Excelsior is when it they came out with the galaxy class is upgraded the Excelsior with the same type of weaponry Electronics and armor ,and armament of the galaxy class along with the sophisticated weapon systems and propulsion system along with the more sophisticated curbs and lines for the Miranda class and the defiant class is sings in someways. They just don’t think and terms of a real engineering but again it’s all sci-fi. We all have our real lives to live, even though Star Trek has encouraged us to realize that what can be thought of in the motion picture can be possible reality.
It would have been nice to go back and say “hey, if you’re gonna cheep out and use the same design, give us some SENSIBLE RESPECTFUL visual upgrades. “
None of them should have been sold. Paramount should have opened a museum.
I wish they had done that, but it probably wouldn't have been profitable.
@@starsiegeplayer Then give it to the Smithonian.
Love the sales pitch! Full of information and funny too. Subscribed. Someday I will buy one of these.
If I could afford to buy this beautiful model, I would fix the drooping saucer and nacelles, do some cleanup, and put it on display somewhere for all fans to enjoy. In reality, this will probably go to a private collector that will not resttore it, and we will never see it again.
This model is good, but a poor substitute for the original, which unfortunately was unrectifiable after it was adapted into the Enterprise-B refit. The secondary hull on this version is too shallow. The hollow cut out for the navigational deflector is round, when it should be a very rounded triangle shape. It's positioning in the secondary hull is also out of place. The ribbed neck section is slightly too tall and the rim of the saucer section is slightly too thick also. Additionally, the hull panel detailing is not as good as the original either, making the scale of the ship look smaller. Good for the what it was meant for, (i.e. brief and distant passing shots) but compared to the original, it's a pale (and far smaller) imitation.
Gorgeous. IIRC the original Excelsior and refit Enterprise were bought by Bezos and are on display at Amazon HQ.
I've never been a fan of Excelsior, just isn't my style, but to have a chance to purchase a piece of history like this... well, I wouldn't let my personal bias get in the way.
It's also a damn shame we didn't get a spinoff of Sulu and Excelsior, I'm betting it would have been gold. I would have been all over that show.
I noticed the pendant decal on the port side looks to be missing a couple of red strips. Also, if you were to compare the 2 Excelsior filming models you'd see there are some differences, the windows on the secondary hull don't match up between the 2 for one and the grid lines atop the sauce are a bit different as well. For more closeup images of the original just google Excelsior filming model at imguer, Bill George uploaded a photo album of the model back about 14-15 years ago.
I was hoping that it was NX-2000 from Star Trek III: The Search For Spock....still interesting, though.
If you own this, you have to have the home and collector's room to go with it. Nobody with a condo should be sticking this in their spare stucco-ceiling room. That would be an interesting call to the insurance company though - "uhm, I'd like to cover an item in my condo worth more than the condo."
😂🤣😂🤣
I'll spend my money as i see fit.
The guy thinks starships are built on Earth and then sent into space 😂
I'm already jealous of the winner. lol
i would love the first contact enterprise-e movie propr
Because the Excelsior was influenced from Japanese designs, the creators thought, 'How would the Japanese design the Enterprise'? And thus, this incredible creation, and they even added a 'wave motion gun' on it.
Take care, and all the best.
It really does have a Lexus RL feel to it as the constitution feels like a nice Cadillac.
Does anyone know how much it sold for?
Love the Excelsior,I did not like the weird modifications to the Enterprise B.
The reason for the modifications for the Enterprise B, was for practical reasons, since the script called for her to be damaged, and this was before they relied on CG effects, they added the new sections, so the original studio model wouldn't be damaged.
When it came time to use the Excelsior again, in the Voyager episode, they just built a new Excelsior instead, and used some of, The Undiscovered Country scenes.
Take care, and all the best.
@@christophersnyder1532correct you Illustrated why they were put on there so the model wouldn't be damaged during the filming for aesthetic purposes during filming for Star Trek generations but due to the methods they utilize for modifications extensive glue acrylics and other modifications they ended up being more permanent
But after the conclusion of filming John Eves and some of the production assistants wanted to restore the model back to her original configuration however they couldn't take them off without damaging the model extensively, that's one of the reasons why this model exists specifically they couldn't modify the Excelsior model that became the Enterprise back so they left it as is with its second generation appearance and simply build a new model from scratch in case they wanted to utilize the Enterprise B or another Starship like that again they did use the model again as the USS Lakota but she never wore the Enterprise decals again.
When they sold the model along with the rest of the collection she was labeled USS Lakota from that episode of Deep Space Nine where the Lakota fought the defiant and Admiral Layton tried to overthrow the Federation it's been years since I've seen it but that was the designation she sold as.
@Dominic-mm6yf well they wanted the Enterprise B to have some styling cues with the Enterprise D specifically Ergo the elliptical and organic motifs and originally the impulse engines on the saucer weren't impulse engines they were transwarp Drive boosters that were to work in conjunction with the conventional warp engines and they were later designated impulse engines.
But also altering the buzzards collectors at the front of the warp engines just a kind of magic towards the Galaxy class ship that would eventually Spawn from that genealogy I do wish they had kept the Ambassador classes Andy probert had originally intended as it stands I just don't like the Ambassador that was singing in yesterday's Enterprise.
I prefer the original conceptual version that he later had Tobias Richter illustrate it's just a better-looking ship, and it bridges the gap between the Excelsior and Galaxy classes
@@christophersnyder1532 and it's kind of funny even though that was the justifiable reason why they did the modifications that was listed in their archives they built a standalone cross-section of the engineering section with the damage so the modifications to the model were not necessary in that regard
Looks like the nacelles are drooping backward.
I distinctly recall a previous episode where the problem of the plastics fatiguing and drooping over time was discussed or at least mentioned. It's a shame, but I imagine some smart restoration could straighten them out.
I never knew it had changed from NX-2000 to NCC-2000 before now
From Naval Experiment to Naval Construction Contract ... I guess that makes sense.
Why are there two of ya. You need to let the other guy speak some time.😊
I wish I had money!
The Excelsior class is the best ship on Star Trek; nonetheless, it would be great if Brandon Routh played Superman again!
He did - check out the infinite crisis story lines in the arrowverse
@glendean591 I am aware and Brandon Routh should play Superman again!
Should be wearing gloves when you touch it.
Nice model, sadly the nacelles are drooping :(
I’ve dated some 28 year olds and it’s just and nacelle drooping is happening earlier and earlier.
bad droop on that
Is it 1/350 scale???
It does appear so to my eye. She's a big one!
Tomy is doing a constitution refit…..could this be next? Will it be quality? Will my wallet stop burning?
Hearing that for next generation they redressed the original Excelsior model makes that movie seem even cheaper and more worthless. They used ds9 costumes. Did they also use film off cuts from other films in productions?
Neat, thanks for sharing, but please treat it as a museum curator would, wear gloves
so the TV remake .. boring
