    I don't comment on CZcams or anywhere much but I wanted to say I really appreciate the clarity and straightforward simplicity or your video. It also convinced me to purchase the tool after fighting a smaller tire with spoons. No more frustration with tires! Thank you so much and continue the great content.

    This is the only video that I've seen on how to actually put the tool together and use it... Not even on Baja's web page. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I don't regret my purchase anymore LOL

    PRO TIP : Used motorcycles tires are good for absolutely nothing! Not even for a kids swing. I always cut mine off with a razor knife/wire cutter as I won't be using them again for anything. It takes seconds to remove them and is completely hassle free.😉

    What an awesome little tool. It's the kind of thing you know someone thought of while stranded and frustrated in the middle of nowhere. I ride sport bikes but can see how this would be extremely helpful in ADV riding. I swear, motorcyclists are some of the most clever people.

    So a tip I learned from the Dunlop guys is after you put in your baby power put the tube in the tire add a little air then mount the tire like you did starting with valve stem. This works very well for me and have been doing it for years now. Also I put my knees on tire where I started mounting it to push the bead into the center of the wheel, that allows the opposite end of the tire to be a little looser to help seat the final section of the tire.

    Purchase one of them tools a couple years ago I got a chance to use it on the trail for myself. The thing is truly magical. Did the trans Wisconsin adventure trail with a bunch of guys on dual sports and had a chance to pull this out at the end of day to help to help a buddy out. Everybody was standing around me thinking that thing was a gimmick. It took one tire to change the minds of those 9 old school Moto boys. I think two or three of them have purchased it. The others just hope I bring the long every time we ride.

    I am saving up for my 1st bike. A few of the bikes that are on the short list have spoked wheels and tube tires. I have been seeing a lot about pinched tubes, and my inexperience has been angling my choice in bike towards those with tubeless tires. This is a game changer and puts my top choices in bikes back in their top spots.

    Yet another really helpful video …I actually have the Baja No Pinch tool, which is not such a common tool people have in their possession from what I've seen here in Australia. I was good to see that you used an extra sleeve to fit the Africa Twin, which is something that I don't presently have. Insightful and well presented. Cheers again

      I carried a BNPT on a trip with the Adventure Rider magazine crew. I ended up changing several tryes over the 3 week period, none of them mine. I think it makes 17 inch tyres a lot easier, especially with Motoz tyres. I carried a Bike Plier G clamp too to break the bead. That can a PIA job if you ride solo.

    So much easier to put the tube on the rim first, then put rim and tub in center of tire, then put the beads on either side. Very important to make sure opposite side of tire bead is in the narrow portion of the rim so tire bead can form more of an ellipse . Remember a 1-inch peg will not fit in a 1-inch hole, you need some clearance room.

    Cheap tricks: Use a space blanket/ foil emergency blanket under the tyre when you put it in the sun to soften. For lube, add some Lux Flakes laundry soap to very hot water . when it solidifies it makes a very good tyre lube.

  • @JanFMiller
    @JanFMiller Před 2 lety +1

    If you put the valve stem nut on the puller before you push it into the wheel, you can put the nut on before you remove it from the stem. I wouldn't step on the brake disk, but that's just me.. (:> Been thinking about getting a Baja, looks like a great tool. Thanks for the vid!

    I'm surprised that no-one ragged you for not protecting the rotor when facing down. A pair of scrap 2 x 4's will do.
    One tip I would like to pass along: I like to put the tube in the tire first, then inflate just enough to give it shape. Then it will stay out of the way when you put the top bead on.

    I have issues with the Baja No Pinch with 21" wheels. 18" wheels no problem. I didn't realize BNP instructs one to lift the hub so the red part is flush. I either overlooked that instruction and found that out on my own and yes it makes it easier. I might go back and try the lifting the hub on a 21" to see how it goes.

    Better : ending the mounting at the - (valve ! - ( especially with narrow rims it is important ) - and if valve-position is marked on the tire, balancing will be correct again ! - ( if using the old tire )

    Could not put on tire without spoons, this tool helps sort of, but seems to be made for really flexiable knobbies. Works ok, but will not get get tires mounted without help from spoons for road tires. At 16:33 you can tell the tire is very flexiable and putting up very little resistance.

    pinch the tire 180 away from the spoon, then lever. If you do it right the bead 180 degrees away from the spoon will pull into the lowest spot of the rim. Not always easy to do depending on sidewall stiffness etc...

      I'm sceptical that the Baja could mount a TMM on my CB500X though as the mechanic at my local shop took about 30 minutes using a machine. After he was done he said that he wouldn't recommend the TMMs for my bike.

    MotionPro bead breaker would be a nice add to ease bead breaking + can be used as tire irons. I usually put my tube in before mounting the tire so valve stem puller not required. Outstanding demo on use of the No Pinch!

      Good info. I’ve considered getting the bead breaker but I already have very light weight aluminum spoons and always use the bike on the trail to break the bead. I’ll probably pick some up eventually though

  • @BigRigRich
    @BigRigRich Před 4 lety

    My Super10 has tubeless tires, so I do carry plugs. However, I’ve heard guys say the carry a tube in case they cut a side wall, so they can at least get somewhere to replace the tire. Can you put your 2 cents in on the subject? Great videos by the way. And thanks for your service.

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  Před 4 lety

      Yes I would recommend carrying a tube. If you slash a sidewall or dent the rim bad enough that the tire will not seat on the bead, you can use a tube to get you by.

    what's is your consensus on balance beads for on the field replacement? I have been using them for years on my harley but i am pretty new to the ADV side of things

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  Před 4 lety +1

      +SnowCityRider I actually run them now. My only beef with them is if you adjust your pressures often, they can sometimes get fought in the valve stem and not allow it to seal.

    Great video...How many flats do you get a season? I got a 2017 AT and I'm looking at the 2020 mainly for the tubeless wheels. Do you know if they make that much of a difference? I demoed a new and wow soooo much more power it was awesome. So still going to buy one just wondering about the wheels?

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  Před 4 lety +1

      Tubeless can be easier for sure. What I like about tubes is that if you bend a wheel you can still roll with it instead of trying to beat it and straighten it out. plus if you tear a side wall you can still be ok with a tube ( sometimes) Honestly, Ive never had a flat on my AT, but Im constantly changing tires for the people i ride with. when you are in a group we have the mentality that his flat is also yours so help out lol

    I'm noticing you're installing a tire on a 17-inch wheel and the tool is coming almost to the end of its gear throw, will this still work installing a 21 inch tire without running past the tools throw?

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  Před 3 lety

      Hey Rick, great question. It’s actually an 18in rear. Yes it will work in the 21. This tool was originally designed for track side tire changes so it actually designed for the larger wheel sizes.

    Great vid. Riding up from Western in Scottsdale with a 19 ATAS this weekend. Any recos on wrenches you use for wheel removal from the bike? Some versions (like I had for my Vstrom) are pretty flimsy.
