We have a male Maine Coon we got from the SPCA, someone had returned him twice. He is a VERY smart cat and amazes us every day. He communicates VERY well what he wants even to the point of picking which brush we are to groom him with. Bonus is he is a GREAT hunter. We live in an old house and used to have a mouse problem. Now its the mice that have the problem.
Maine Coons are awesome. We had a big male outdoor one once, just a wonderful family cat, who loved to sunbathe on the hood of dad's Jeep. We came home from school one time to find him up there with his fur ruffled a bit, just napping away like nothing was out of the ordinary...while a dead HAWK was on the ground nearby, lol, one who from a distance had obviously misinterpreted all that gray & white fur for a rabbit. 😏🐈
and they say dogs are smart
he probably was smarter than their first owner and they couldn’t handle it!

Their intelligence is beyond their little body. I just taught my 6 weeks kittens to watch birds on my phone while I'm cleaning their cage. I need to distract them cause their momma want to rest.
