Why There Will Never Be Another Big 3 In Rap - The End Of A Generation

- Cole stepping down from beef and winding down ready to drop "The Fall Off" Drake and Kendrick clashing for that number 1 spot it really feels like the final war arc in an anime.
Who do you think will be the next big 3? Or do you agree hiphop will never be the same?

Nah, he killed himself 1st.
somewhere in an alternate universe, Juice Wrld and XXXtentacion would be 2020's recognized big 3 alongside Carti
I agree to this actually
No disrespect to Carti but replace him with Yachty
@@256djnah Uzi
2020s might be like Tyler, Travis, JID
There can definitely be another big three but we need to bring back the lyricism in rap. Kendrick's Victory is a victory for the true artists
I think the thing about Biggie vs Tupac is that a 1v1 rivalry is always more compelling in terms of the narrative you can weave around it. When we talk about their feud, you almost never hear Jay Z or Nas get brought up alongside them, it almost dilutes or detracts from the mythos that surrounds these two legends, even though Jay Z and Nas are legends in their own right.
I think in a few years time, once the industry has shifted again, we'll see a similar trend towards the "1v1" story that feels more personal, and people can relate to better than the industry-wide civil war that seems to be exploding rn.
Nah, it’s because Tupac and Biggie ended more climatically. Nas and Jay was a great beef, but they’re friends nowadays
Honestly, the Hip-Hop Civil War thing was cool at first, but we really only care about Kendrick, Drake, and maybe Cole, if he can get back in the race
@@wait_in_gold_ON_SPOTIFY Yeah, the fact that their beef killed them both definitely adds to the myth. Drake probably isn't THAT desperate to be number 1, though, and neither is Kendrick, from what I can tell.
Yeah I agree, Kanye even said himself "there's always 2 at the top" and I think that narrative just makes more sense. I think 2010's-20's hiphop will defo be looked back on as it's own unqiue era that had a lot going on in terms of hiphop possibly struggling to claim an indentity.
@@zeniyuhh I think it's also interesting that we're currently shifting towards more contemplative, "sensitive" conscious rappers in the top ranks, but beefs are still so prevalent.
It's like a cultural remnant that rap can't quite shake off, and I wonder if it ever will.
Maybe rappers will compete to be the most sensitive, IDK. Call that "Beyond beef".
the thing about carti is in his class he was made fun of but he was the only one who evolved, unfortunately no one else in his class followed

Cole is my goat but I feel him tapping out puts him in 3rd as this was his point to prove he could be the number 1. But theres still the chance he gets on a track with kdot and outraps him like he did drake.
If it was a back and forth of just lyrics he most definitely would’ve been in it. But after these last couple of days, with the reports vandalism of Stores that sell OVO merch and one of Drake’s Homes being shot at leaving his bodyguard in a horrible state, J Cole was right to leave this battle. Maybe another time in the future, a chance to show his lyrical ability may come, but this time just wasn’t it as this beef is spiraling into something else completely.
We’re not throwing Travis in any conversation he could never not even top 15
Drake is not a rapper and when he raps he’s mid he’s not even big 3 he’s just the most popular
ur hate is evident
@@luiz_fuegothat’s 2 sentences.

great vid man
Good video my brother.
Kendrick’s the best out of the 3 idc how all of this ends. Not gonna change my opinion, 3 classic albums, one great album, and one really good album. He is 5/5 quality over quantity.
your hate is evident
I would say Kendrick has the most impact Kendrick has shaken up the game multiple times the other two dudes never did that. We a listen but some of those Kendrick releases I felt like the world stopped. damn to be exact.
To an artistic level I agree but you can't ignore the fact that the culture listens when drake drops same with Cole.
@@zeniyuhh they listen shit I even play the shit. Actually Cole last project is really good imo. It just ain’t have the same affect. Drake on the other hand you can tell he bored people listen but it’s not really substance there. It’s like fast food.
@@zeniyuhhNah people go to Drake nowadays for vibes and hits, he don't shake nothing up when he drops cause he lacks substance and shock value in his music. Kendrick music gone age better
Kendrick every now and then drop some gems, Drake has been consistent.
@@redd-jb- consistency don’t really matter when you have no substance and you not really writing all your songs. Kendrick shi way more dense w substance
"J Covid" Im still sick 😫
Denzel Curry and JID are my next gen picks thus far
5:28 in the 90s it Pac Nas and Big
I lowkey fuck wid it

Never say never
Cornae 🌽 lol i meant Cordae my bad.
😭😭😭
RIP X, Juice, Pop
They all feel bloated to me. I don’t know if there’s an equivalent way to describe the fatigue of seeing the same actors on camera, over & over in various different roles…but I certainly get that from these 3.
The most popular isn’t necessarily the best. Look at Conor mcgregor for instance. I wish someone like Lupe would emerge from depths and give them all a schooling but society is beyond wordiness now. Articulation in rap is no longer championed.
They’ve had a massive running in the mainstream but I do think the time where they dominate like they used to is done. I think unfortunately there isnt clear replacements as the genre is too all over the place now. Look at XXL once was a community wide agreed on list of new comers is now a bunch of rappers the general audience doesnt really know
Carti trav and future the new big 3 of the trap era
JID, Little Simz, and JPEGMAFIA
Whooooooo?
Nah big three ends with these guys
No way in hell . And I fw 2/3. JID talented but don’t have that star factor. And little Simz needs a machine behind her and I think her being from the UK might create a disconnect
the only song I can name from them is jid 151 rum, and I think thats not even the right name
Jay vs Nas.. thats key in this😮
Hip-hop will never be the same, the only two after the big 3 I can think of are Future and maybe Nicki Minaj. Travis Scott is probably the last rap superstar we'll have for a long time. Hip-hop will likely branch off into more sub-genres, and rappers will be more labeled by their skill and commercial success than cultural impact.
Can we really throw Future in the conversation???? Future can barely put a bar together. The Big 3 concept came from Jay-Z “Who’s the best MC’s-Biggie, Jigga or Nas?”
Kendrick and J Cole sparring would have been great for the culture. Think of the bars we would’ve received. Honestly would have been legendary.
But we got Drake instead and he’s playing an internet game. It’s lame af.
Nah...he's actually got dot in the corner 😂
he did an 8mile on him
now he has really not much to say
Drake has narratived the battle with this
2nd diss song
Then, why hasn't Kendrick, you know, ANSWERED WITH BARS, THEN?! You do know that there are TWO participants in the fight. If the fight is wack, it's both fighters' fault. K. Dot fans are delusional, I swear! Dude can do no wrong in their eyes!! Smh...

Exactly. He ruin his momentum of what he was doing with his roll out, he ruined the sport of the cival war like japan nuked themselves, Cole wasn't even supposed to respond. Put Millions of fans in a deep depression, i bet his in a deep depression. His legacy is over. All he had to do his drop music not a diss track, vlogs and bars which he was doing
People who truly believe he destroyed himself were never really fans. This is most definitely over reacting
Tyler the Creator gotta be in the new big 3
tyler the creator doesnt have the star power nor the cultural impact imo. Tyler the creator is more of a lowkey skilled artist, i'd compare him to MF doom in the sense that hes very skilled but not too well known or popular
Its only Drake
Billy woods the big me 🤷♂️
All my favourite rappers are old af though, so maybe you’re right.
Billy woods is great! but it's hard to argue he's had the same impact
Who ever decided that was the big three tho💀 das my question
Jid , baby keem & travis
Interesting I can for sure see JID and Keem as they are litteraly cole and kdots protege's.
Travis is the only one worth talking about from that list. Most regular people have no idea who jid and baby keem are.

Wayne (who was the biggest rapper in the world in 2008 and 2009 til Drake dropped So Far Gone) was the one who passed the torch to Drake. Mind you Young Money was also the biggest rap group in Hip-hop at the time. People were buying their merch like G-Unit back in the day.
Soon as I heard Drake, I knew he was different. Same to Cole when he dropped Who dat. Kendrick took some time to grow on me but GKMD was the one that cemented it 4 me. While I followed Tyler, Travis & Future back then, they still sounded more like "another rapper" as opposed to "The rappers" of that time. Big Sean and at one point B.O.B had more claim to the "up next" title than the aforementioned.
Listen to Jeru the Damaja and Mos Def and probably you'll wake up.
