@@Liability2Tbf basically all of Kartana's more are affected by sharpness it already hits you like a truck, with Sharpness it definitzly ahs the potential to being a one hit KO machine. I honestly believe that the extra damage would do more for it than not being affected by fire moves anymore.
Man I'd love to see the Ultra Beasts come back with these abilities, with a story explanation that they adapted to the region and aren't powered up by Beast Boost anymore.

Stakataka doesn’t need a different ability, it just needs to have like, 30 less base defense and 30 more base health so that it can not only get attack boosts easier, but actually be a lot tankier than it is right now.

@@bigmonke3348 Guzzlord doesn't have much going for it as is so this would be a fair buff imo. Guzzlord lacks any way of boosting its offensive stats and has a bunch of common weaknesses (including 4x to Fairy) that keep it in check. Pretty much like an alternative Dondozo that trades some of its walling ability for the option of running mixed offense. Plus it lacks Unaware so it's not as good of a wall as Dondozo and not much stronger either.

Even just buffing Corrosion to allow all Poison-type moves to hit Steel-type for neutral effectiveness (like Scrappy with Ghost-types) would be a massive buff for it
Mind Blown isn't effected by Reckless because it has fixed recoil instead of a percentage of damage and the point of Reckless is that it increases damage to your opponent and to your own pokémon.
I think prankster could fit for blacephalon since it’s based on an evil clown. Idk how much better it would be tho, I guess priority trick and will o wisp could be useful
Oh, definitely would be useful. Prankster Trick/Wisp/Toxic/Taunt/Light Screen/ or even Encore My set would be probably extremely rare, but it would be: Scarf Prankster Mind Blown Trick Shadow Ball Expanding Force/Psychic/Taunt (for after you get rid of scarf.) Specs is probably still a better choice item, while Beast Boost maybe be a better ability still for him. But it opens up so much more for this one trick nuke
If you ever played Pokerogue, which is a fanmade roguelike, every 'mon in that has a "passive" that has to be unlocked. These passives function as a second ability. and wouldn't you know it, Kartana's passive is sharpness (and omfg it's so busted.) these are what the unlockable abilities for the ultra beasts are in Pokerogue (except Blacephelon because I have yet to obtain one, so I don't actually know what its passive is) Nihilego: Levitate (negates its 4x ground weakness) Buzzwole: Moxie (so it can get +2 attack instead of +1, or get +1 attack and +1 defense) Pheromosa: Tinted Lens (greatly improves the usefulness of its bug moves which otherwise are commonly resisted, especially useful against fairy which resists both of its STABs) Xurkitree: Transistor (gives its electric moves an additional 1.5x boost on top of its STAB) Celesteela: Heatproof (mitigates its fire weakness) Kartana: Sharpness (incredibly busted, boosts most of its arsenal by 1.5x. seriously this thing is a menace) Guzzlord: Innards Out (because of Guzzlord's massive HP, Innards Out has very high damage potential) Naganadel: Sheer Force (boosts any of its moves that can produce a secondary effect such as poisoning, pretty solid) Stakataka: Solid Rock (reduces the supereffective damage it takes) Blacephelon: ??? Buzzwole's moxie is the only one that doesnt really work in a normal setting, since its only by virtue of Pokerogue allowing the pokemon you start with to have two abilities that its good. In a normal setting, moxie is just beast boost but it only works for attack.
My Fakémon region has an ability called Catch Of The Day, which heals a Pokemon's max HP by 50% after a kill (usually given to Pokémon that are great at hunting prey). Think of it like Beast Boost for HP. If Guzzlord could find a way to deal enough damage to reliably rack up kills, it could actually see some viability by remaining on the field for a while, since Beast Boost doesn't help it out much. Trick Room support would be a great help for Guzzlord as well.
For Blacephalon maybe Dazzling? With how flashy its fireworks are I think it'd be fitting. And priority immunity on frail pokemon is always a good idea
Keep in mind, if you're giving them brand-new abilities, I see no rule saying they can't also have a new _hidden_ ability. Guzzlord could have the abilities Beast Boost, Gluttony, and Thick Fat as its hidden ability.
Not a great ability? Immune to heat wave/icy wind (speed drops) + attack boost, can be easily set up with your own Tailwind user like the prankster genies. I think it would be solid. Hell, maybe better than Beast Boost on it
I'd prefer if Guzzlord got a unique ability. Maybe a combo of Thick Fat, Gluttony and Recycle that grants it an omni-boost in all stats except speed when it eats a berry and then it recycles the berry if it KOs a Pokemon. It would really give Guzzlord a niche in just being an absolute menace and fitting its terrifying world ending status as shown in the anime. As for Pheromosa maybe a combo of Queenly Majesty and Multiscale since I imagine her body is much tougher than it appears given the cockroach design. Well at least for one attack. After taking damage Pheromosa would lose her cool and take normal damage when not at 100% HP. I think it would fit her well. I think the Ultra Beasts would benefit a lot from having unique abilities if Gen 9 can give something like Bloodmoon Ursaluna 3 abilities in one just for existing. Ultra Beasts are so alien they can have their own unique ability.
given it's constantly having to re-grow its head, you could definitely justify regenerator for blacephalon, like a less broken and more fitting version of magic guard

Some of these Pokemon just need straight upgrade/exclusive abilities tailored for them. Guzzlord could get a one that biting moves gain lifesteal or something. Blacephelon could get something that works with its signature move mind blown such as gaining a calm mind or amnesia buff when hitting half hp. With how unique ultra beasts are i think they deserve their own extremely quirky gimmicks
I also could see Wind Rider working on Kartana, as it is paper. Also, it gives it immunity to plenty of Wind based moves like Heat Wave. I could see Blacephalon with Dazzling as it is all about putting on a show and then surprising their prey. Earth Eater would be funny on Guzzlord as it constantly eats. Why not the earth it is standing on?
Dazzling for Blacephalon. I'd say its overall appearance, coupled with the mind-blowing head, is quite dazzling. Competitively, it completely flips the match-up against would-be checks like Gambit, Rilla, Urshifu rapid, etc.
I'd come up with a custom ability for Guzzlord- Devourer- Uses held Berry earlier, Restores 1/4 HP upon use of Berry, recovers berry 2 turns after use.
For Blacephalon, I think the Dazzling ability would be quite fitting It blocks priority, so that means your opp cant revenge kill it with things like Shadow Sneak or Sucker Punch possibly allowing you to get one more hard hit off before it goes down when it's low, and I think it fits pretty well thematically considering Blacephalon is a bit of a show-off in the anime
You don’t understand the amount of giggles you just caused me with the kartana flash fire. I used to play hackmons a lot and this was the mon that I had on so many teams because it was so funny to watch the opponent think they had kartana then get hit right back by a boosted sacred fire.
Blacephelon getting Magic Bounce would be really fun, especially since it seems like it would be bouncy. It gives it more to do than just sweeping, and wouldn’t be as broken for it as Magic Guard
honestly, giving kartana a 50% boost from the get go instead of a 50% boost on kill but that can stack probably doesnt even change much - its a different pokemon though one is just a oneshot machine, but CAN be walled. the other cant, at all - but only if you get it to a spot where it has 1-2 ko's

You were correct. The fangame Pokerogue gave Kartana Sharpness as a passive, making it incredibly strong. But Sharpness is its passive, and in that game Passives are bonus unlockable abilities that stack with Abilities, making it so Kartana gets Beast Boost and Sharpness combined, so it just becomes totally unfair.
Actually this is a nice topic I just hoped that other mons like Paradox had a different Hidden Abilities I can think a few Like there are the obvious like Sandy Shocks having either Magnet Pull m or Arena Trap to not step on Magneton’s toes Or Electric surge in Iron Thorns because poor Pincurchin has too much pressure on his back having to compete with Rillaboom’s grassy glide, Indedee’s utility and Galarian’s Wheezing nice typing Pincurchin has low base stats, and a bad distribution on top of that and mono electric is not good defensively Iron Thorns has good Base stats a decent distribution and a Typing that while it’s horrible in theory If Alolan Golem has a decent niche in OU with that typing and a similar spread I’m sure Thorn’s can be a Tapu Koko in middle tiers And Levitate Iron Moth And some more interesting like Thick Fat into Brute Bonnet Tinted Lens into Iron Jugulus Inner Focus to Iron Hands Or Scrappy Great Tusk That would be broken Even Soundproof Scream Tail
Strong Jaw would have both boosted Guzzlord's Crunch, one of it's better STAB dark moves, and fit it perfectly thematically, although I guess with how much it eats thick fat works too Sharpness fits Kartana perfectly, and at first, I thought that your backup, Hyper Cutter, wouldn't work because it's description says that it's for pokemon with pinchers, but with the way Kartana can put its blades together, I'd say it was a pretty good choice, so overall, great choices here Both Blacephalon and Xurkitree would fit the Illuminate ability, but that's pretty useless in battle, so I would probably stick with your choice for Blacephalon. Galvanize would be pretty good for Xurkitree. Stakataka could also get Rock Head, but that would be even more useless that illuminate, although Solid Rock would be great as it reduces super effective attack power, and Stakataka definitely suffers with it's multiple 4x weaknesses. Sturdy also works pretty well though. Nihilego obviously works well with Levitate, but Toxic Debris would work too as well as possibly Poison Point. For Pheramosa, I think that Speed Boost would work, as the anime, it's stats, and it's movepool promote how speedy it is, and it would be very good for this pokemon, as in a few turns it could outspeed everything, making its only weakness priority moves, which is ironic as that's what Queenly Majesty, the ability given to it in the video, prevents. I think that Queenly Majesty is very fitting, and very good, but it is also the signature ability of Tsareena, and I wouldn't want to take that away, although that has been done in the past. As for Celesteela, I guess since its based on bamboo, it could get a common ability for grass types, like overgrow or Sap Sipper. It could also get Wind Rider to combat pesky Heat Waves, but overall I think Flare Boost would be way better. For Buzzswole, I don't think I can really beat your abilities. I think that, since it is an evolution, Naganadel should be able to take Poiple's Poison Point and Levitate, as those would be very good and also make just as much, and maybe even more sense on Naganadel. Compound Eyes would make sense, but would absolutely suck.
How about creating new abilities for each that fit the theme of the pokemon? Guzzlord -> Greedy eater; physical attacks steal and consume the opponent's held item, restoring HP. The restoration value would be similar to Fling's damage value and it would activate barries effects in addition to the restoration value. Kartana -> Wax seal; Nullifies the first fire attack to hit. Wax paper. Blacephalon -> Strobe; All attacks have a 10% chance to flinch. The dude looks like a disco clown, give it some strobe lights. Xurkitree -> Recharge; Using an Electric type move restores HP. Basically leftovers but only when you use Electric moves. Stakataka -> Immovable Object; High defense halves the damage of Fighting and Ground attacks. 3 combined boosts to Defense and Special Defense turn the 4x weaknesses into a 2x. Nihilego -> Doomed Aura; Stats cannot be raised, only lowered and all stat changes are inverted. If Haze and Contrary were a constant field effect, also it would be subject to Zygarde's Aura Break ability which would make it one of 3 Pokemon Zygarde's ability actually effects. Pheremosa -> Terror Aura; Priority is inverted. Simple as and self explanatory. Also subject to Aura Break. And people can pretend all they want, she looks like a roach. Celesteela -> Otherwordly Vitality; If knocked out, revives the Pokemon with half HP. I get that it's supposed to be a rocket ship but all I see is Princess Kaguya and Bamboo. If you know the story of the Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Princess then you get where I'm coming from. Buzzwole -> Vampire; Physical hits restore health. Again like leftovers but it's on making physical contact, it would trigger multiple times for multi hit attacks like Rocky Helmet does. And what's more thematic for a Mosquito? Naganadel -> Polluting Charge; Using a Poison type attack sets terrain. This thing is supposed to have "Hundreds of liters" of poison, so have a poison attack create a poison field effect that acts like 1 layer of toxic spikes. Different set condition, different clear condition, like weather effects.
Honestly, I feel like Nihilego deserves a Commander-like ability. It did, after all, engulf Lusamine and I'm pretty sure it feeds on the thoughts of others. Hence its name, "Nihil" for "nihilism" and "ego" for, well, "ego."
here's an interesting one for blacephalon: magic guard. This ability stops blacephalon from taking damage from mind blown, while also acting as a built in heavy duty boots as well as letting it negate poison damage. Also stakataka wants solid rock, my guy.
I've been planning on a fan game that includes the ability to go to a new Pangea based region full of Ultra Beasts and was already thinking about giving the new abilities in addition to Beast Boost so this helped with that
I think an interesting ability for Guzzlord could be Earth Eater. I know it's technically the signature ability of Orthworm, but it just makes so much sense. Even though Guzzlord isn't weak to ground, an extra immunity, *especially* to ground, is always useful, and having any way to help Guzzlord recover some health is appreciated.

I was thinking if it wasn’t already said elsewhere that Dazzling wouldn’t be terrible for Blacephalon, not as good as others but for what it’s shown as in media and how it loves to outspeed it’d be decent to have priority be blocked as an answer into it, and could make it slightly better in doubles without being broken or unreasonable, nor even a direct upgrade to damage but rather limiting answers and making something like scarf or web support better and forcing specific answers like Heatran, which are still just good Pokémon in that case. The doubles part being from what I read, that Dazzling not only blocks priority into the user, but into allies as well, meaning it not only prevents shadow sneak and sucker punch from affecting it, but passively blocks prankster and fake out in doubles
For Blacephalon maybe regenerator since it always makes a new head and could give the player a reason to actually use its signature move. For Xurkitree it would be cool to see electric surge since it’s connected to the ground when you first encounter it in a wormhole
I'd give Stackatacka Multiscale. Partly because far too many Pokémon have Sturdy, and partly because it's whole thing is that it's made of multiple different objects. (That are kinda scale-like.) And, while it's a terrible ability, Big Pecks would fit Buzzwole quite well thematically. Big Pecks is a pun ability, (large pectoral muscles, and large pecks from a beak.) No Pokémon has bigger or more prominent pectorals than Buzzwole, and it does have a huge proboscis.
For poipole and naganadel, give them contrary. When evolving, poipole turns upside-down (poipole's head becomes naganadel's body) just like Inkay into Malamar. It may be OP with DracoMeteor but I feel like it fits thematically
Literally pokerogue passives, lol. It was neat comparing their choice to your thoughts - I think Rogue's choice of solid rock is more thematically correct than sturdy for stakataka and helps with the "not being a thick boi" issue - Queenly magesty feels SO MUCH MORE correct than tinted lens. I completely forgot it was an ability
I feel Guzzlord could benefit well from strong jaw, makes crunch an actual good stab move, helps coverage with the fang moves and fits well considering it’s 90% mouth. Kartana honestly does not need sharpness, it’s already a phenomenal banded mon if you give it permanent choice band it would make it too unhealthy for most meta games. Honestly I really like hyper cutter for vgc as preventing intimidate is a pretty vital ability. Blacephalon I can imagine having flash fire, again not an amazing ability because I do not think it needs any ability better than beast boost but flash fire would allow it to pivot in on strong fire type moves, not only acting as a safe switch to hit powerful specs boosted moves but also would serve to boost the damage of mind blown and other fire type options Xurkitree I think motor drive is very fitting, plays well into its kit and honestly probably wouldn’t help too too much in similar regards to Electivire in old gens where the electric move simply isn’t consistent enough. Stakataka I don’t think needs sturdy, I would honestly prefer an option such as solid rock which could help it function better as a consistent tank for moves. There’s an argument for analytic which would be potent, and is commonly given to steel types but I don’t quite see it Levitate on Nihilego, a mon that would probably see OU usage nowadays anyways is too extreme personally. I feel an ability like clear body while not as strong would be more balanced as it is already such a strong mon Queenly majesty is a very strong ability, as Farigiraf is was high in usage for a while due to it. However, this is because of Farigiraf’s excellent bulk, mons such as Bruxish and Tsareena are much less used when sharing the same nuts ability and still more bulky than Pheromosa
You did exactly what I thought for Guzzlord, Kartana with Sharpness would have a nuclear leaf blade and make smart strike actually good, Blacephalon I'm not sure, Xurkitree could have dazzling, it fits the theme, Stakataka does not have 131 attack lol, but yeah, sturdy makes sense, Nihelego could have corrosion, I think it fits, Pheramosa what you gave makes sense and would definitely keep it in ubers, I actually would really like to see flare boost on other pokemon so yes, Guts definitely makes sense, Sniper if it got focus energy would make it super Kingdra

Honestly sharpness would be worse than kartana haviing a second beat boost. Great for immediate and reliable damage but the beast boost comes in handy and racks up over time. Really depends on how you want to play.
Not on topic but I just wanna rant (you can use it in a future video so why not) The arbitrary reasons why Mind Blown isn't boosted by Reckless / Rock Head is because: A) It's not considered a "moves with recoil", which is the subject for Reckless / Rock Head B) It's somewhat in the same team with Curse, Jump Kick, High Jump Kick, and Supercell Slam where you lose a predetermined amount of HP (no official name for this "subcategory") C) It's in the "explosive" subcategory with Explosion, Self-Destruct, and Misty Explosion Some other arbitrary decisions Gamefreak made for subcategories: 1) Fishious Rend is boosted by Strong Jaw with the description stating "with its hard gills" 2) Double Iron Bash (use its "arm"), Hammer *Arm* , and even Headlong Rush ("The user smashes into the target in a full-body tackle" ???) are boosted by Iron Fist but not Pound, and Needle *Arm* 2*) People already talked about Sucker Punch not being a "true punching" move and I want to add Poison Jab into that same boat (jab is a quick punch but the Japanese raw translation for the move is "Poison Stab") although I want both to be punching moves 3) Population Bomb is a "slicing" move because the Japanese name is ねずみ斬 nezumizan (mouse cut), explaining why the move is boosted by Sharpness 4) On that same note, Ceaseless *Edge* is a "slicing move" but not Stone *Edge* 5) The "ball and bombs" subcategory doesn't include "explosive" and vice versa 6) On that same not Snipe Shot, Spike Cannon, Flash Cannon, Fleur Cannon are not in either "balls and bombs"' nor ""explosive" even though they are basically Pokemon guns
i agree with most of them, theme wise strong jaw fits guzzlord more but intimidate is better competitive wise. guts for buzz is excellent because the 1/2 attack from burn no longer applies. for blacephalon flare boost would have been nice if it wasn’t fire type. maybe something like unburden or regenator so it could nuke. i think unburdened would be better sense it’s so fragile. get in do massive damage die and deal with the consequences later. maybe with a grassy seed it can blow up 3 times. just need something to boost said damage so it can one shot
@@MattBudYT while that is good the reason i mentioned the seed is that it procs first. if blace is initially slower its fragility will be exploited easier, i think its goal is literally to get in and blow up. a defense boost might allow it to live to get a second round off assuming the first one doesn’t kill. but that does give me the idea of giving it dazzling which is a clone of queenly majesty. both act as speed control in its own way. although physic terrain allows the use of both. grass terrain also weakens several ground type moves as well so a seed just works better imo because the mon isn’t used for bulk and at most get two attacks off regardless of seed or sitrus because hp is just fodder. i wonder which version works best competitively, which can only be answered by seeing how much hp is saved via boost vs hp restored with a mix of damage it can effectively cause.
I think they should give these "quasi-legendaries" this variety of Hidden Abilities to make them more distinct. If you make a sequel do the Paradox Pokemon

I agree with your ideas. Queenly Majesty on Pheromosa and Flare Boost on Celesteela were clever. For Nihilego, I would propose Corrosion, Merciless, or Poison Puppeteer, the signature ability of Pecharunt. Nihilego has been known to influence people and Pokémon. I would consider giving Naganadel Corrosion or Merciless.

With Blacephalon, I think I have a good ability for them. Blaze. It would power up all of Blacephalon's Fire type attacks when low on HP (33%). I feel like it kind of works with Mind Blown, because Mind Blown deals half the beast's max health. I would probably give Blacephalon an altered version of Blaze, however. It would activate at 50% HP, instead of 33%. It's not like there aren't abilities that are identical to each other while having different names.
Gale Wings could help Naganadel in doubles, giving it a priority tailwind even faster than Tornadus or Whimsicott while being much better than talonflame.

Hmmm for Blacephalon it’s hard there a lot abillity I could see working real well lore wise Illuminate, Flare Boost and Colour Change to name a few But I think sound proof could work well to as the sounds it makes are so loud from explosion it needs something to dull them abit!
Give Naganadel its own custom ability called other world corrosion. That allows it to hit steel types with poison moves makes poison type attacks from it super effective against steel type. Stakataka doesn’t need a different ability, it just needs to have like, 30 less base defense and 30 more base health so that it can not only get attack boosts easier, but actually be a lot tankier than it is right now.

Pretty much like an alternative Dondozo that trades some of its walling ability for the option of running mixed offense. Plus it lacks Unaware so it's not as good of a wall as Dondozo and not much stronger either.

If you ever played Pokerogue, which is a fanmade roguelike, every 'mon in that has a "passive" that has to be unlocked. These passives function as a second ability. and wouldn't you know it, Kartana's passive is sharpness (and omfg it's so busted.)
these are what the unlockable abilities for the ultra beasts are in Pokerogue (except Blacephelon because I have yet to obtain one, so I don't actually know what its passive is)
Nihilego: Levitate (negates its 4x ground weakness)
Buzzwole: Moxie (so it can get +2 attack instead of +1, or get +1 attack and +1 defense)
Pheromosa: Tinted Lens (greatly improves the usefulness of its bug moves which otherwise are commonly resisted, especially useful against fairy which resists both of its STABs)
Xurkitree: Transistor (gives its electric moves an additional 1.5x boost on top of its STAB)
Celesteela: Heatproof (mitigates its fire weakness)
Kartana: Sharpness (incredibly busted, boosts most of its arsenal by 1.5x. seriously this thing is a menace)
Guzzlord: Innards Out (because of Guzzlord's massive HP, Innards Out has very high damage potential)
Naganadel: Sheer Force (boosts any of its moves that can produce a secondary effect such as poisoning, pretty solid)
Stakataka: Solid Rock (reduces the supereffective damage it takes)

Buzzwole's moxie is the only one that doesnt really work in a normal setting, since its only by virtue of Pokerogue allowing the pokemon you start with to have two abilities that its good. In a normal setting, moxie is just beast boost but it only works for attack.
My Fakémon region has an ability called Catch Of The Day, which heals a Pokemon's max HP by 50% after a kill (usually given to Pokémon that are great at hunting prey). Think of it like Beast Boost for HP. If Guzzlord could find a way to deal enough damage to reliably rack up kills, it could actually see some viability by remaining on the field for a while, since Beast Boost doesn't help it out much. Trick Room support would be a great help for Guzzlord as well.
For Blacephalon maybe Dazzling? With how flashy its fireworks are I think it'd be fitting. And priority immunity on frail pokemon is always a good idea

Keep in mind, if you're giving them brand-new abilities, I see no rule saying they can't also have a new _hidden_ ability. Guzzlord could have the abilities Beast Boost, Gluttony, and Thick Fat as its hidden ability.

Not a great ability? Immune to heat wave/icy wind (speed drops) + attack boost, can be easily set up with your own Tailwind user like the prankster genies. I think it would be solid. Hell, maybe better than Beast Boost on it
I'd prefer if Guzzlord got a unique ability. Maybe a combo of Thick Fat, Gluttony and Recycle that grants it an omni-boost in all stats except speed when it eats a berry and then it recycles the berry if it KOs a Pokemon. It would really give Guzzlord a niche in just being an absolute menace and fitting its terrifying world ending status as shown in the anime.
As for Pheromosa maybe a combo of Queenly Majesty and Multiscale since I imagine her body is much tougher than it appears given the cockroach design. Well at least for one attack. After taking damage Pheromosa would lose her cool and take normal damage when not at 100% HP. I think it would fit her well.
I think the Ultra Beasts would benefit a lot from having unique abilities if Gen 9 can give something like Bloodmoon Ursaluna 3 abilities in one just for existing. Ultra Beasts are so alien they can have their own unique ability.

somewhat random thing: the thumbnail reminded me of pokerogue, since in that game, they have a feature named Passives, each pokemon line has 1, they're basically an extra ability alongside their normal ability, and kartana has Sharpness as a passive

Some of these Pokemon just need straight upgrade/exclusive abilities tailored for them. Guzzlord could get a one that biting moves gain lifesteal or something. Blacephelon could get something that works with its signature move mind blown such as gaining a calm mind or amnesia buff when hitting half hp. With how unique ultra beasts are i think they deserve their own extremely quirky gimmicks
I also could see Wind Rider working on Kartana, as it is paper. Also, it gives it immunity to plenty of Wind based moves like Heat Wave. I could see Blacephalon with Dazzling as it is all about putting on a show and then surprising their prey. Earth Eater would be funny on Guzzlord as it constantly eats. Why not the earth it is standing on?
Dazzling for Blacephalon. I'd say its overall appearance, coupled with the mind-blowing head, is quite dazzling. Competitively, it completely flips the match-up against would-be checks like Gambit, Rilla, Urshifu rapid, etc.
I'd come up with a custom ability for Guzzlord- Devourer- Uses held Berry earlier, Restores 1/4 HP upon use of Berry, recovers berry 2 turns after use.

For Blacephalon, I think the Dazzling ability would be quite fitting
It blocks priority, so that means your opp cant revenge kill it with things like Shadow Sneak or Sucker Punch possibly allowing you to get one more hard hit off before it goes down when it's low, and I think it fits pretty well thematically considering Blacephalon is a bit of a show-off in the anime
You don’t understand the amount of giggles you just caused me with the kartana flash fire. I used to play hackmons a lot and this was the mon that I had on so many teams because it was so funny to watch the opponent think they had kartana then get hit right back by a boosted sacred fire.
Blacephelon getting Magic Bounce would be really fun, especially since it seems like it would be bouncy. It gives it more to do than just sweeping, and wouldn’t be as broken for it as Magic Guard

You were correct. The fangame Pokerogue gave Kartana Sharpness as a passive, making it incredibly strong. But Sharpness is its passive, and in that game Passives are bonus unlockable abilities that stack with Abilities, making it so Kartana gets Beast Boost and Sharpness combined, so it just becomes totally unfair.

Sharpness fits Kartana perfectly, and at first, I thought that your backup, Hyper Cutter, wouldn't work because it's description says that it's for pokemon with pinchers, but with the way Kartana can put its blades together, I'd say it was a pretty good choice, so overall, great choices here
Both Blacephalon and Xurkitree would fit the Illuminate ability, but that's pretty useless in battle, so I would probably stick with your choice for Blacephalon. Galvanize would be pretty good for Xurkitree.
Stakataka could also get Rock Head, but that would be even more useless that illuminate, although Solid Rock would be great as it reduces super effective attack power, and Stakataka definitely suffers with it's multiple 4x weaknesses. Sturdy also works pretty well though.
Nihilego obviously works well with Levitate, but Toxic Debris would work too as well as possibly Poison Point.
For Pheramosa, I think that Speed Boost would work, as the anime, it's stats, and it's movepool promote how speedy it is, and it would be very good for this pokemon, as in a few turns it could outspeed everything, making its only weakness priority moves, which is ironic as that's what Queenly Majesty, the ability given to it in the video, prevents. I think that Queenly Majesty is very fitting, and very good, but it is also the signature ability of Tsareena, and I wouldn't want to take that away, although that has been done in the past.
As for Celesteela, I guess since its based on bamboo, it could get a common ability for grass types, like overgrow or Sap Sipper. It could also get Wind Rider to combat pesky Heat Waves, but overall I think Flare Boost would be way better.
For Buzzswole, I don't think I can really beat your abilities.
I think that, since it is an evolution, Naganadel should be able to take Poiple's Poison Point and Levitate, as those would be very good and also make just as much, and maybe even more sense on Naganadel. Compound Eyes would make sense, but would absolutely suck.
Sharpness Kartana is a obvious choice, but I think wind rider would be crazy good and fitting + heat wave immunity
How about creating new abilities for each that fit the theme of the pokemon?
Guzzlord -> Greedy eater; physical attacks steal and consume the opponent's held item, restoring HP. The restoration value would be similar to Fling's damage value and it would activate barries effects in addition to the restoration value.
Kartana -> Wax seal; Nullifies the first fire attack to hit. Wax paper.
Blacephalon -> Strobe; All attacks have a 10% chance to flinch. The dude looks like a disco clown, give it some strobe lights.
Xurkitree -> Recharge; Using an Electric type move restores HP. Basically leftovers but only when you use Electric moves.
Stakataka -> Immovable Object; High defense halves the damage of Fighting and Ground attacks. 3 combined boosts to Defense and Special Defense turn the 4x weaknesses into a 2x.
Nihilego -> Doomed Aura; Stats cannot be raised, only lowered and all stat changes are inverted. If Haze and Contrary were a constant field effect, also it would be subject to Zygarde's Aura Break ability which would make it one of 3 Pokemon Zygarde's ability actually effects.
Pheremosa -> Terror Aura; Priority is inverted. Simple as and self explanatory. Also subject to Aura Break. And people can pretend all they want, she looks like a roach.
Celesteela -> Otherwordly Vitality; If knocked out, revives the Pokemon with half HP. I get that it's supposed to be a rocket ship but all I see is Princess Kaguya and Bamboo. If you know the story of the Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Princess then you get where I'm coming from.
Buzzwole -> Vampire; Physical hits restore health. Again like leftovers but it's on making physical contact, it would trigger multiple times for multi hit attacks like Rocky Helmet does. And what's more thematic for a Mosquito?
Naganadel -> Polluting Charge; Using a Poison type attack sets terrain. This thing is supposed to have "Hundreds of liters" of poison, so have a poison attack create a poison field effect that acts like 1 layer of toxic spikes. Different set condition, different clear condition, like weather effects.

Honestly, I feel like Nihilego deserves a Commander-like ability. It did, after all, engulf Lusamine and I'm pretty sure it feeds on the thoughts of others. Hence its name, "Nihil" for "nihilism" and "ego" for, well, "ego."

I've been planning on a fan game that includes the ability to go to a new Pangea based region full of Ultra Beasts and was already thinking about giving the new abilities in addition to Beast Boost so this helped with that

I think an interesting ability for Guzzlord could be Earth Eater. I know it's technically the signature ability of Orthworm, but it just makes so much sense. Even though Guzzlord isn't weak to ground, an extra immunity, *especially* to ground, is always useful, and having any way to help Guzzlord recover some health is appreciated.

I was thinking if it wasn’t already said elsewhere that Dazzling wouldn’t be terrible for Blacephalon, not as good as others but for what it’s shown as in media and how it loves to outspeed it’d be decent to have priority be blocked as an answer into it, and could make it slightly better in doubles without being broken or unreasonable, nor even a direct upgrade to damage but rather limiting answers and making something like scarf or web support better and forcing specific answers like Heatran, which are still just good Pokémon in that case. The doubles part being from what I read, that Dazzling not only blocks priority into the user, but into allies as well, meaning it not only prevents shadow sneak and sucker punch from affecting it, but passively blocks prankster and fake out in doubles
For Blacephalon maybe regenerator since it always makes a new head and could give the player a reason to actually use its signature move. For Xurkitree it would be cool to see electric surge since it’s connected to the ground when you first encounter it in a wormhole

Partly because far too many Pokémon have Sturdy, and partly because it's whole thing is that it's made of multiple different objects. (That are kinda scale-like.)
And, while it's a terrible ability, Big Pecks would fit Buzzwole quite well thematically.
Big Pecks is a pun ability, (large pectoral muscles, and large pecks from a beak.)
No Pokémon has bigger or more prominent pectorals than Buzzwole, and it does have a huge proboscis.
Pokerogue has additional abilities called "passives" that you can unlock for a pokemon, and kartana does get sharpness!! And thats WITH beast boost.
For poipole and naganadel, give them contrary. When evolving, poipole turns upside-down (poipole's head becomes naganadel's body) just like Inkay into Malamar. It may be OP with DracoMeteor but I feel like it fits thematically

- I think Rogue's choice of solid rock is more thematically correct than sturdy for stakataka and helps with the "not being a thick boi" issue

I’ve been thinking about this idea for paradox
I feel Guzzlord could benefit well from strong jaw, makes crunch an actual good stab move, helps coverage with the fang moves and fits well considering it’s 90% mouth.
Kartana honestly does not need sharpness, it’s already a phenomenal banded mon if you give it permanent choice band it would make it too unhealthy for most meta games. Honestly I really like hyper cutter for vgc as preventing intimidate is a pretty vital ability.
Blacephalon I can imagine having flash fire, again not an amazing ability because I do not think it needs any ability better than beast boost but flash fire would allow it to pivot in on strong fire type moves, not only acting as a safe switch to hit powerful specs boosted moves but also would serve to boost the damage of mind blown and other fire type options
Xurkitree I think motor drive is very fitting, plays well into its kit and honestly probably wouldn’t help too too much in similar regards to Electivire in old gens where the electric move simply isn’t consistent enough.
Stakataka I don’t think needs sturdy, I would honestly prefer an option such as solid rock which could help it function better as a consistent tank for moves. There’s an argument for analytic which would be potent, and is commonly given to steel types but I don’t quite see it
Levitate on Nihilego, a mon that would probably see OU usage nowadays anyways is too extreme personally. I feel an ability like clear body while not as strong would be more balanced as it is already such a strong mon
Queenly majesty is a very strong ability, as Farigiraf is was high in usage for a while due to it. However, this is because of Farigiraf’s excellent bulk, mons such as Bruxish and Tsareena are much less used when sharing the same nuts ability and still more bulky than Pheromosa

Honestly sharpness would be worse than kartana haviing a second beat boost. Great for immediate and reliable damage but the beast boost comes in handy and racks up over time. Really depends on how you want to play.

The arbitrary reasons why Mind Blown isn't boosted by Reckless / Rock Head is because:
A) It's not considered a "moves with recoil", which is the subject for Reckless / Rock Head
B) It's somewhat in the same team with Curse, Jump Kick, High Jump Kick, and Supercell Slam where you lose a predetermined amount of HP (no official name for this "subcategory")
C) It's in the "explosive" subcategory with Explosion, Self-Destruct, and Misty Explosion
Some other arbitrary decisions Gamefreak made for subcategories:
1) Fishious Rend is boosted by Strong Jaw with the description stating "with its hard gills"
2) Double Iron Bash (use its "arm"), Hammer *Arm* , and even Headlong Rush ("The user smashes into the target in a full-body tackle" ???) are boosted by Iron Fist but not Pound, and Needle *Arm*
2*) People already talked about Sucker Punch not being a "true punching" move and I want to add Poison Jab into that same boat (jab is a quick punch but the Japanese raw translation for the move is "Poison Stab") although I want both to be punching moves
3) Population Bomb is a "slicing" move because the Japanese name is ねずみ斬 nezumizan (mouse cut), explaining why the move is boosted by Sharpness
4) On that same note, Ceaseless *Edge* is a "slicing move" but not Stone *Edge*
5) The "ball and bombs" subcategory doesn't include "explosive" and vice versa
6) On that same not Snipe Shot, Spike Cannon, Flash Cannon, Fleur Cannon are not in either "balls and bombs"' nor ""explosive" even though they are basically Pokemon guns
i agree with most of them, theme wise strong jaw fits guzzlord more but intimidate is better competitive wise. guts for buzz is excellent because the 1/2 attack from burn no longer applies. for blacephalon flare boost would have been nice if it wasn’t fire type. maybe something like unburden or regenator so it could nuke. i think unburdened would be better sense it’s so fragile. get in do massive damage die and deal with the consequences later. maybe with a grassy seed it can blow up 3 times. just need something to boost said damage so it can one shot
Unburden Blace just needs to click Mind Blown once to proct that sitrus berry and speed boost.
@@MattBudYT while that is good the reason i mentioned the seed is that it procs first. if blace is initially slower its fragility will be exploited easier, i think its goal is literally to get in and blow up. a defense boost might allow it to live to get a second round off assuming the first one doesn’t kill. but that does give me the idea of giving it dazzling which is a clone of queenly majesty. both act as speed control in its own way. although physic terrain allows the use of both. grass terrain also weakens several ground type moves as well so a seed just works better imo because the mon isn’t used for bulk and at most get two attacks off regardless of seed or sitrus because hp is just fodder. i wonder which version works best competitively, which can only be answered by seeing how much hp is saved via boost vs hp restored with a mix of damage it can effectively cause.
I think they should give these "quasi-legendaries" this variety of Hidden Abilities to make them more distinct. If you make a sequel do the Paradox Pokemon
Guzzlord has a giant mouth, so Strong jaw could be interesting. It will need to get more biting moves as coverage though.

I agree with your ideas. Queenly Majesty on Pheromosa and Flare Boost on Celesteela were clever.
For Nihilego, I would propose Corrosion, Merciless, or Poison Puppeteer, the signature ability of Pecharunt. Nihilego has been known to influence people and Pokémon. I would consider giving Naganadel Corrosion or Merciless.
Technically, the best ability for Kartana would be well baked body, as it gives a boost to something Kartana actually uses (defense)
They should make an ability that auto clears your side of hazards on switch in and give it to guzz and snorlax. Call it consume.
The abilities I thought about before watching the video (yes, I know nobody cares):
Guzzlord - Intimidate or Gluttony
Stackataca - Sturdy or Clear Body
Xurkitree - Volt Absorb or Lightning Rod
Pheromosa - Swarm or Speed Boost (yeah I know, both pretty useless but that's what came to my mind)
Blacephelon - Flash Fire
Kartana - Sharpness and Wind Rider
Buzzwole - Intimidate or Iron Fist
Nihilego - Levitate or Water Absorb
Poipole - Poison Point or Corrosion
Naganadel - Poison Point or Merciless
Since they're given abilities maybe they could have a hidden ability like guzzlord with gluttony. Also the perfect thematic ability for blacphalon would be dazzling
With Blacephalon, I think I have a good ability for them.
Blaze. It would power up all of Blacephalon's Fire type attacks when low on HP (33%). I feel like it kind of works with Mind Blown, because Mind Blown deals half the beast's max health.
I would probably give Blacephalon an altered version of Blaze, however. It would activate at 50% HP, instead of 33%. It's not like there aren't abilities that are identical to each other while having different names.

I can imagine PokeCo giving some if not all Ultra Beasts unique abilities

Scope lens dragon cheer naganadel would be cool
Gale Wings could help Naganadel in doubles, giving it a priority tailwind even faster than Tornadus or Whimsicott while being much better than talonflame.
Pokerogue gives sharpness to kartana while keeping beast boost so you can use both

Hmmm for Blacephalon it’s hard there a lot abillity I could see working real well lore wise Illuminate, Flare Boost and Colour Change to name a few
But I think sound proof could work well to as the sounds it makes are so loud from explosion it needs something to dull them abit!
For Guzzlord you could do Strong Jaw for base 104 power Crunches
Give Naganadel its own custom ability called other world corrosion. That allows it to hit steel types with poison moves makes poison type attacks from it super effective against steel type. Kind of in the same vein as the xenomorph having its acid blood that melts through the space ships metal hull, allowing it to melt through steel.
Take me back to 2018... Celesteela sets up with Flame Charge, eats Citrus Berry at half health, hit back with Acrobatics, kill, Beast Boost Attack... TAKE ME BACK
they did the sharpness kartana in a fangame called pokerouge, but as a pasive ability (so its combined with beast boost)
