(Me) So this gimmick was canned pretty quick, with the last Burger King to have this being a location in Scottsbluff, Nebraska that dropped the singers in 1982. It was a different time back then and there’s really no going back. As brief as they are, at least these little commercials are a good window into the past.

After reading the earlier comment from the male lead's sister I decided to do a little research on him. She stated his name was James Louis Watkins and sure enough this guy started acting in blaxploitation films in the early 70's. It appeared that his career ended in 1989 until I discovered that he changed his name to Julian Christopher at this time. Sure enough, credits for Julian Christopher start in 1989.
Unfortunately the pride they take in accomodating special orders really quite defies reality. For instance back when I worked at the airport, when my colleague would stop at this breakfast eatery nearby the area we worked in and would order a breakfast plate with a side of bacon and no toast and the cook who was usually there would refer to him as "Mr. Complicated" and retaliate by overcooking his food.

The town I grew up in has many parts that still basically look the same from the 70s. It never boomed economically nor did it decline so it basically stayed the same in many spots. Even the same pizza shop is still there
I highly recommend watching Saturday Night Fever movie which came out in ‘77. Especially if you’re familiar with Brooklyn NYC, it’s kind of mind blowing to see the scenes back then
I remember those microphones they had at the counter to place the orders - and they had a policy that if you requested them to sing the Burger King anthem they had to. Fun days and I do think the Burgers tasted better then, they still are good but it was more cheerful back in those days!
