Adam Voges Catch - Aus v NZ, Feb 2009

Aus v NZ T20 match at the SCG on 5 Feb 2009, Adam Voges catches Brendon McCullum. Possibly the first time a fielder in an international cricket match lawfully caught the ball after touching the ball, leaving the field of play without the ball in hand, and then returning to catch the rebound. The rules of cricket were changed in 2000 to permit this - previously under Law 32 (2)(a) if a fielder tried this the ball could only be caught on the rebound by another fielder who had not left the field of play, because the fielder who started and completed the catch had to be within the field of play "throughout the act of making the catch".

I wrote an algorithm that looked at every game event between 2009 and 2014 and gave them an excitement score, and this catch was ranked the most exciting play.
