Rockwood Geo Pro Travel Trailer | BRUTALLY Honest Owner Review (16BH)

- The Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro 16BH Travel Trailer. It promises low weight, a smaller size, with some premium features like azdel, solar, inverter, and frameless windows. But is it any good? I give a brutally honest review after a year of extensive use. This trailer is towable by small trucks and SUV's. How does it compate to an R-Pod, Grand Design, Lance, Coleman or other towable?

We bought a Motorhome!: czcams.com/video/Onlo8q0cMm8/video.html
I TRULY did not intend this to be a negative video. However, RV's - in general - are poorly built and often have endless problems. I have to be honest! We do like our Geo Pro and it meets our needs for a lightweight, small travel trailer.

I completely agree with your assessment and frustration.
Unfortunately, you can't avoid negativity. Your points are not only valid, but a great example of how these guys charge more for less quality. For the amount they charge, they should be giving some quality. I can appreciate the desire to make these things lighter so more people can pull them. But at some point these guys need to know where to draw the line when it comes to lowering quality.
Thanks for sharing and illustrating what people need to look for or consider when it comes to their RV purchase.
I feel exactly the same as you. Junk. All of them.
Staples, glue and caulk holding them together.
When I picked mine up, several things were broken/ not right. Dealer said they were 6 to 8 weeks out. I fixed most things myself.
My roof has a bunch of wrinkles in it. That's gonna be a fun one to deal with.
I DON'T like the door friction hinge... at all.
Uncomfortable furniture, all vinyl. We used to get nice cloth seats, now we sit on plastic.
Honestly I think anybody that finds this review to be particularly negative probably doesn't have much experience with campers in general. They're all built like crap. It's just the nature of the beast.
It’s called honesty!
Where do u keep ur Stinky slinky inside your camper since u don't have bumper
I don't understand why more owners are honest about how poorly constructed their RVs are. Wish there were more videos like this out there. SMH!
I have a Keystone Passport and it is horribly built. I have been slowly fixing everything they did wrong.
Most are influencers and often paid
@@tray22- I’ve attended more than a few RV shows, Keystone which has many brands like Montana, Cougar, etc. all have visible flaws in trim, cabinets off kilter, wallpaper with bubbles, rips and tears, one had the stove come free in transport to the show, another had a TV on the floor with a hole in the wall. It’s CLEAR there is zero QC before shipping.
I hear nothing but people complaining about the quality. Most RVers know that none of them are amazing quality. They build them poorly because we keep buying them knowing this as there aren’t better options. Then you bounce it down the road where screws come loose. We had a particular one for 10 years hat I had probably.20 screws we could never figure out where they came from. That doesn’t count all the ones we put back in.
I’ve met a lot of people in the last couple years with issues with Airstream which have historically have been known for quality.
I just love how the entire RV industry has everyone convinced that they need Goodyear endurance tires. I own a company that we tow two trailers both with double axle full of machines on Westlake tires. Traveling at least 50 to 100 miles a day and have never had a blowout. Want to prevent blowout keep an eye on your tire pressure don't overload your trailer loaded evenly and keep the speed down it's a home on Wheels it shouldn't be going 80 miles an hour.
"...but we keep buying them, so it must be our fault." Well said.
I thought it was a good and honest review. Very realistic. Not negative at all, just honest. It was an indictment of the RV industry rather than the RV itself.
Great video which highlights what most people are afraid to say. These things are quite poorly constructed using overall cheap materials. I would never buy new from dealer. I bought my trailer a few years old so many mods were done to improve the crappy features and most warranty work was completed as many things break during the first few years. Plus, I saved thousands! 3 years trouble free as of today (knock on wood!)!
There's a lot of evidence RVs built in the pandemic crush of buying were of lower quality. Say, spring of 2020 to maybe early 2022 build periods. Meaning, most 2021 and 2022 models are likely shoddier.
We've been traveling with this unit for a year so far, and except for a leaking fawcett, the rest of the equipment work wonderful. We are very happy with it. But we understand it has its flaws or not some very good materials, but given its price its ok for us. Thanks for your in depth review, it was important in our decision to buy it. Best.
Love this guy, saying like yeah these things are junk crappy travel trailers. Saying what we all feel about these things
I've binged watched a LOT of RV videos and this one was easily one of the best! Still thinking of getting a RV and this line of RVs was one I was considering. Now I need to watch some of your other content, but thanks for taking time to do this.
Have you looked at Ember trailers?
Your honesty is refreshing 👍👍👏
I appreciate the brutal honesty! That's what us newbs need! LOL
Appreciate seeing your camper. I'm wondering if most of your opinions are lead by you watching a lot of popular CZcamsrs. Comments like, "the stabilizers are cheap", "all RVs are junk", "all dealers are awful". RVs are built with 2 opposing masters: weight control and ability to go down the road. And if built to what you must have as your expectations, you wouldn't want to pay that much. I've been an RVer for decades. I've found good dealers, I've never had issues with stabilizers, I've handled small repairs myself and when I've been a good customer, I've generally had good experiences with manufacturers. Rockwood generally builds good products and if you are so disgusted with RVs, I'm not sure why you keep buying them. I did not find your opinions truly knowledgeable or helpful. Good Luck with your travels!
Thank you for your honesty. I wish more owners would do videos like you did.we are looking and are seniors. So we don't want to have to adjust the fridge and fix things that should not brake but will.Having honest reviews helps us in our decision making.Thank you for taking the time to make this well need to know video
The most thorough camper video out; from the dialogue & information to the editing. Perfect-
Great honest video.
I have owned 2 trailers over 14 years, none of which I still own.
I agree with all of your observations.
Was at a dealer yesterday looking at buying another but just couldn't convince myself it was a good idea.
Watching your video just reinforce all the reasons not to waste money again on another piece of junk.
Thank you!
my wife and I have enjoyed your videos over the years, you give some great informative reviews that we found useful when we bought our 2021 Lance 1685 trailer. Sorry you had to change to this Geo Pro. However you are showing all the things I continued to observe when we were shopping all the other brands. You are right, the RV industry gets away with sub-par workmanship and design, and while the Lance is better than most, it should be for what they charge. Also as you pointed out, they have some issues too. Enjoyed listening to another honest review.
I really like the layout. Came so close to buying one but I can't do wood. Ended up buying a Casita. It may be small but craftsmanship is second to none and also a bargain price for the quality
Thanks for being honest with us.
I appreciate your time.
That wire rack fridge mod is money. Thank you for the review!
After 7 different RVs (truck campers, a travel trailers and a 5th wheel), I agree to the substandard construction and quality. I came to my senses and bought a Casita fiberglass TT. MUCH better.
Love the honesty . Im gonna be a new rv owner . So ive been watching alot of videos, well im glad i came across this. Ty for your pros and cons much needed to know Ty
Thanks for the super honest, direct and unfiltered information!
Loads of great information. I have been looking for a while for a quality travel trailer. thanks for sharing!
Love the honest review, it's really helpful, thank you.
More videos on this channel! I had a Geopro and your review is extremely accurate. I sold it and am planning on getting a new 23 Colorado and am looking for one again and landed back on geopros because of the weight. They are ALL so cheap and expensive though it kills me.
We looked at these but ended up with a NuCamp 2022 TAB 400 boondock edition. In my opinion it’s the best one on the market. 👍👍video thanks
Yikes……hope that works out
thanks for being honest...it means a lot to look at the the after effects of trailer purchase...you are have consistently been truthful...I think I remember about a review you did on Mazda Cx-5...thanks for keeping it real.
Your honesty is much appreciated. Having interest in the hobby with plans to purchase in the near future, it is good to have someone such as yourself give information as to what's expected. Considering these things will come with defects right off the lot, and dealers not standing behind anything they sell, it has steered me to buying used first. Thanks again & great video!
I appreciate your honest review. I’m looking for my first towable and trying to learn as much as possible before visiting the dealer.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great video - thank you for being so candid.
As a newbie beginning to explore, this really helps me think about the various gotchas and quality considerations.
Appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent review, love that your tell an honest story of the things you did and didn't like!
I took off my old school steps for solid steps. The negatives of the old school style outweigh the negatives of solid steps for me. Great video, I appreciate the info and insight!
Ha. Best rationale of the day. Negatives of old style out weigh negatives of new style. I agree.
Real realy appreciate your blund honest review. This is very true regarding Campers as well as RV' cheaply build and lots of money. They run them through the factories loke water. Worse during the Covid.....thank you again. Intrestrates are through the roof, we are in a resection. Keep it up so good to hear an everyday consumer speak up. ✌️
thank you, this was very helpful. because i was looking at this one as a contender. thanks again.
RVs, Boats...you forgot Airplanes! Great video. I converted a cargo trailer using good mattresses, multiple "solar generators", 800 watts of solar on the roof, cassette toilet, induction cooktop, microwave, stainless steel shelving, nets everywhere for storage, a 32" TV and two shore power inlets. I avoided a lot of the problems.
We are on the same wavelength Double Doctor - KISS theory for wife & myself.
Several years ago we bought a used 2018 one-owner InTech Flyer Pursue for $10K. All aluminum construction - no wood. It's only 14 ft. length & 78 in. height. Fits in our garage. Has pull-out kitchen with refrigeration, roof-top air conditioner/heater & Fantastic multi speed fan, TV, stereo, power inlets, solar hook-up, cassette toilet, outdoor shower, large side awning and Ironman 8x8 pull-out tent room attached to rear of trailer. Weighs less than 2300 lbs with cargo. EZ pull with Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road with manual trans. We live in the Tampa Bay area and camp frequently in Blue Ridge/Smokey Mountain areas of NE Georgia. Finally got tired of sleeping on the ground without protection and dealing with changing weather conditions. Keep It Simple.
Nice to hear some honest commentary about RV manufacturing. I bought a used NuCamp Teardrop (320) trailer and it has REAL wood cabinets and seems to be made well. My beef has been with the dealerships I have sought maintenance/repair work. Quality of the maintenance work has been quite inconsistent, from amateur and wrongly done to OK…never great. DIY skills make a difference.
Thanks I appreciate the honest review. The reviews I’ve mainly seen are someone that says they bought the camper but was really loaned one, someone walking around an rv show or salesmen. I’ve never heard the truth. Especially glad to hear about the 1 axel. I’m a bit worried about pulling stuff.
Loved the video ! Appreciate your honesty on cheapness of dealers and lack of quality of some rv manufacturers….
From the travel trailers I’ve looked at, the Geo Pro campers have the best lay outs that I’m looking for. I especially like the models with the murphy bed! Aluminum joists throughout and sloped roof for water runoff! I’m buying one!
A true and honest review, THANK YOU
TBH.. it does come across as negative toned… but I think you accurately expressed the overall frustration that all RV & camper owners have with the entire industry and the quality of products they produce. How are they allowed to sell a defective product right out of the factory with NO real warranty or ability to get service performed to repair factory defects?! There is absolutely NO quality in RVs anymore. The whole industry should be forced to provide no cost warranty service centers that aren’t affiliated or reliant on the retail dealerships (who refuse to do warranty work anyways).. or they should have to reduce the price of their “product” to something that accurately represents how disposable everything is that they churn out.
Thank you for the review!
Thank you for keeping things honest with your review.
My pleasure!
My Geo Pro Refrigerator died after 6 months, the kitchen drawers started falling apart after a year, the front window has tons of condensation in winter and runs down the wall onto the mattress, and I hated the steps also! I had the 2018 FB. I was happy to sell it and haven’t looked back!
I know the frustration with Forest River campers firsthand. With ours, Forest River refused to honor the warranty and I will never buy another Forest River product again. They build them cheap with cheap materials but expect you not to complain.
Thank you for the honesty.
🎉Thanks for a great review.
Great honest video, good job, very good information, thanks.
Your honesty is #1
We need more Honest reviews like this people who tell the truth good and bad, thanks It really helps out In decision-making
Great review. You are giving a very honest opinion, not negative. I like the Geo Pros, not bunk houses. My kids are all grown. I like the refrigerator tip. Never heard that before. I wonder if some of these dealers do that in the pre-pick up?
I saw a shorter version of this trailer on the road today, so I searched CZcams and found this review. Sure glad I did. I got 21-minutes into this video and stopped watching it because, by then, it had convinced me that these trailers are junk. I had a 1987 Nomad that was perfect until my idiot neighbor burned his garage down, through negligence, and my trailer, sitting next to it, melted down to the frame. I will never replace it with one of these newer units, which seem to be made out of cardboard. The trouble is, I cannot find any of these late 80's / mid 90's trailers for sale. People who own them must know that they will never get the same level of quality in today's rigs, so they are hanging on to them. Thank you for this review and for being so frank about this subject.
Appreciate your Honesty! I’m going to be buying my first RV in the next few weeks and I’m so disappointed with the quality and they cost SO Much money!!!
We just bought our first trailer a couple months ago-a 2018 Forest River Wolf Pup. I could not believe how cheaply it was slapped together!
Great informative video. As a person new to RVs, I appreciate the real like experience both good and bad. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this real review
Wow what a great review. I don’t know what changes were made for 2023 but I will be avoiding Forrest River trailers for sure. Thanks.
It's not just Forest river, trust me.
They are ALL JUNK in one way or the other.
I dislike my RV as much as he does!
Expensive junk, glued and stapled together.
Thanks for your honesty.
I HATE those steps too I have no idea why the industry as a whole decides to adopt something worse like this randomly. The only thing I can think of is the other style couldn’t support larger people.
I think you made the most important mod anybody can make with a camper. Put it under cover. Protecting the camper from the elements will make it last so much longer and it gives you a lot more leeway for finding leaks etc before they destroy something.
Ditto!!
I stayed for the whole video, good info considering a RV purchase.
Great video!!
Helpful video - Thanks! I'm interested to know more about your RV Cover. I like that. Where'd you get it? How much did it cost, and how was it installed? Thanks again.
Like your reviews
👍
I do appreciate the time put into the video, thank you. That said, common complaints about quality ("poorly built") are actually comments on stoutness. Stout, low cost, low weight-- pick 2. That's the RV choice.
I do not own an RV, but I have looked at them and thought of getting one. My girlfriend just bought one 2013 and she paid a lot of money but it’s got a lot of good things itself. I guess a class B meaning she can drive it. thank you for your honest sincere and, informative video I hung in on the whole thing.
Thank you so much for your infirmity and honest video
Awesome review!
The thing I like about the Geo line of trailers is the they are more of a box shape. A lot of smaller trailers are rounded (R-POD) which gives you less interior room IMO.
appreciate your honesty 🙏..
keep it up
thankyou i enjoy your over view have a bless year.
Wow - this is really helpful.
Really appreciated your normal consumer take versus the normal review. Thought it would end with something like “we are happy- totally worth what we paid and it has features we couldn’t get with other brands”. After all how many trailers come with actual real solar installed? And the length. Let’s face it we are comparing to what, a Bambi, the rpod? The context is important for people who haven’t checked out the comparables. Curious about when and how you’ve used the generator. It seems like a big boondocking “not talked about” that really could use some honest reflections. We have an gulfsteam vintage “style over functionality, baby” and almost got the generator (which every solar user has dreams about but always dashed on the shores of reality) but never has to use just because we lucky enough to live and camp in the Pacific Northwest. I feels like you didn’t give enough props to the fantastic fan. Actually great for OEM. And why hasn’t the industry gone to 100ahr lithium? Just embarrassing considering the current pricing. That is weird and interesting to hear about magic chef vs typical dometic-good thing CZcams is there to save our asses. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for a very honest and insightful review. The review from a actual user beats some Dealer's Salesman flapping their jaws.
I am considering a Geo Pro. I would love to have a Lance but they got stupid with their pricing. The other trailer I'm considering is the Nash 17K from Northwood. Very good owner reviews on them. Have you checked out the Winnebago Micro Minnie's? Same price bracket as the Geo Pro but they are a tandem axle trailer which is a huge benefit.
Thanks again for a good review!
we should have got the micro minnie with dual axle
Ok i saw mostly a person complaining about preference issues versus actual issues. This trailer was the way same the day you went to the dealer and looked at it so you saw most of the things you don't like day one. The stairs the lack of a hitch etc. For the price the geo pro comes with allot of upgrades and great construction. You are buying a home that is taking a beating as you drive. Hell just think about house that settles after completion, it can and will have all types of issues. Most of these complaints fall on you when you did a walk around and saw the things you don't prefer yet still purchased. There is no way you can buy any travel trailer/rv and then drive it around and things don't shake lose especially depending on where you take it. The overall construction on these trailers are great and punch far above its weight class. My dealer was great and gave me several free items including a extra solar panel, slide protector, and a trailer hitch lock.
Your comment is spot on! The whole time I watched the video I was thinking, "All that stuff was there the day he looked at it" Some cons have merit but overall it was a lot of whining. (And I only go half way through it)
Agree. I was sort of thinking that and then when he got to the steps and complained about the legs. Adjusting the leg takes seconds. They can dump crap on the floor if you don’t sweep them first. It is personal preference and when you get old with bad knees these are nice. Why didn’t he buy one with a hitch if that was important I understand not knowing what you want and wishing you had it, but that’s on him.
@@loriejohnson8706I love our steps like these! They are so sturdy and don’t move or get in the way of the door when you level them properly, it’s not difficult by any stretch. And we keep a hand broom by the door to sweep them off. Also I’ve never seen the valances falling off the windows of any trailer we’ve owned either :/
Irritation and negativity, two separate things. It's the honest review that earns the sub. Tks
I'm ♥n this Floor Plan. I Like how you did the Internal with the Slide In 1st. It Shows that the Camper Can be Accessed with the Slide in, and to me, That's Very Important. Most people Don't do That!
Great honest informative review, thanks for telling the truth.
I appreciate your honest video. Thanks! I'm looking to trade my fifthwheel for something I can tow with my Tacoma and you provided me with some good info.
It's really sad that rv manufacturers build crappy quality products, but charge premium prices.
Thanks! Just bought one and I looked up the video on the fridge adjustment. Your video helped me a lot..I have the same bike rack. will my 75lb e-bike fit on this??? Thanks !! Updates on this RV would be much appreciated!!
You definetly have talked me even considering this rv
Thx for the vlog.
Thanks for the honest video. We just bought a forest river rood 171 and I think lots of the problems are with forest river. I see that they use lots of the same cheap components on ours. The craftsmanship is really poor. The first trip all of the screws holding the rear window in place fell out.
I agree about the Rv industry and dealers, terrible. I have the 20BHS and so far it’s been doing great, even though things all loosening and some warping from the shower and wall paper. Although I do live in area where temperatures can reach 110-120 degrees. So that causes damage to these or any trailer. I’ve found the single axle work well for me, easy to tow and haven’t had any sway issues. And I’ve already towed in snow and sand storms, stupidly I might add. But wife insisted on a trailer and after five years of nagging me I bought.
THANK YOU FOR YOU HONESTY AND INFORMATION GOD BLESS 🌴😎🇺🇸🇨🇱🌴
We had a Rockwood mini-lite and I called all the stuff “Walmart deluxe” because that is RV industry quality…. I sold it and bought a used 23’ airstream international - very nice, not cheap crap… unfortunately I was in an accident and it was totaled but with the insurance proceeds (very generous from USAA) we bought a Nucamp Tab 400 boondock also excellent quality stuff in there … pretty much all of it.
Thank you for your videos
Thanks for making this, my wife really likes the Geo Pro concept (I want a Casita :-/ ), but if I’m going to get one, I want to know the bad along with the good. Thanks again, excellent synopsis.
Some of the casita have had leaks and the carpet has gotten wet.
Excellent review. We have a Casita, although smaller, is much better constructed. Nothing has fallen apart. I do prefer a group 31 AGM battery, over lithium. Overkill with a full sized pick up will prevent towing issues. We tow ours with a Nissan Titan, and you cannot feel the Casita. Do not need the weight distribution hitch, rather an anti sway bar works just fine. I saw where a you tubber sold his Casita and bought a geo pro. Wonder if he is regretting it about now. Plan to keep ours. Appreciate your observations.
I did not see screens on windows. Did I miss them? Good honest appraisal of RV. Thanks
Did the dealer attempt to charge you junk fees? bogus charges... thanks very good and honest video.
Maybe or maybe not your intention, but you have convinced me to stick to hotels or, when we're feeling adventurous, camping cabins.
I don't want to sleep in a bed strangers sleep in. Too many germs or bedbugs.
No thanks, I'll deal with a junky RV, they are pretty easy to fix if you are somewhat handy. A screwdriver and some glue will fix 95% of the issues.
What RV dealer was that Ignore your Complain about you're fridge, people must know . To avoid this dealer in the future
Unfortunately that's going to be pretty much any RV dealer. They all kind of suck.
I enjoyed your honest cynicism about the build quality of travel trailers.
I tow my 2022 G19fbs with a 2019 Ford Ranger with factory tow package. I have never had one issue with my Geo Pro. I love it. I ordered mine the way I wanted it rather than buying off the dealer's lot. I also use a local family owned dealer and they are great. They even check with me from time to time to make sure everythng is o.k.and I am still happy with my purchase. I watched your whole video and the only thing I could think is why in the world did you buy the trailer and why are you keeping it if it is such junk.
We have a running joke amongst our camping group, " they're all junk!" It's just a matter of who has the nicest junk!
Forest River has gotten so big that they don't care about quality anymore! Our retirement RV is a different make and is beautiful (junk)😂 .
"It's just a matter of who has the nicest junk." Ain't that the truth 😂😂😂
Good honest review … I’m on my Third trailer … Winnebago mini … and concur … they are all built cheap .
Take a look at intechs if you like light wieght trailers. The intech terra is very nice.
Was considering GeoPro but not now! Thanks for pointing out the junk they’re building! Think I’ll stick with Grand Design!
Looked at many campers for 2 years and researched them. Grand Design was only one that looked well made to me and has great customer service.
Sharp looking trailer.
