I've lived here, my whole life all of these things are true. At the moment, there is also a large issue of lots of low paying jobs, yet homes with very high rent for the area. Its a difficult place for young adults to get affordable places. (assuming you come from financial struggle)
Yes definitely agree!!
This is excellent! You did a great job & I enjoyed it thoroughly! I lived in Willits (Brooktrails) for 20 years & miss it so much! I am in Redding to be with my 89 year old Mom but hope to move back once she passes - I miss Willits & Ukiah so much - I worked at Redwood Oncology in Ukiah & it was a wonderful Cancer Unit for Radiation. Thank you for doing this video!
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you and I hope you can visit Ukiah :)
Lived in redwood valley in the 60s.
Havent been back. Its fun when your a kid. Dif world then. I wonder how much change on road k? We owned
10 acres. Never had a problem finding things to do. I had a bike to get around. In my 70s now retired. Luckly
we moved to Orange Cali. Grew up etc. don't really miss it. I probably
wouldn't gel there now being an adult.
@@jhondoe6735 always something to do is right! Definitely no Disneyland here though! I’m sure so much has changed but still probably pretty recognizable!

Sounds like your ready to move on to bigger pastures. Explore Southern
Calif. plenty to do and experience.
I live in hot Vegas now. It's dif but duable. Not bad for a retiree like me.
For a young person like u just stay creative.
Very high housing costs are the biggest factor with zero justification. Been looking for land elsewhere. It's amazing how much cheaper things are out of this area. I regret moving here every day!
Great point! I hope you still enjoy living here. Take care!
Number five: No activities for children
George Carlin’s quote came to mind - “When does a kid ever get to sit in the yard with a stick, anymore?”
Back when people didn’t shame moms for letting them play in the yard with a stick 🤣
The town is growing fast now people are starting to move in. Seems we are getting more businesses built.
Planning on driving up there from LA soon. I have a friend who has land out there and I'm going to return his dog. Thanks for some of the info
Hi! Great video. We just moved out here (temporarily for my husbands job) and I love it! It’s beautiful. I do wish they had more things for kids, but we have definitely been enjoying the outdoors. I have a question for you. Do you guys have a popular place to look at Christmas lights? Like a whole street? I’ve been trying to find something like that out here. Thank you again for your informative videos. I have really enjoyed them and learned a lot from them. I started watching them before we moved out here.
Great question! I’d love to do a video on Xmas lights! I highly recommend the liking the city of Ukiahs recreation page! They do a ‘let it glow’ map to all the houses of people who enter their lights! www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1OC_fkA1y4iE8mO5N7qlUDOlMaxonSdOc&usp=sharing

Thank you so much!
@@janetenegron1351 Also, every December there is the Ukiah Parade of Lights.
@@janetenegron1351 And on the 4th of July, you can go to Todd grove park and you get access to the swimming pool for free, and there are alwyas games and bouncy castles and such put on by the county.
I've been in Ukiah for 4.5 years and Im originally from Socal. I have spent 3.5 years working for Mendocino's government body. Mendocino lacks skilled labor and expertise across the board. Let alone service sector labor. A college or university in this county would be a boon for the local area. I see the City of Ukiah has grown up some in terms of downtown street revitalization and getting ADA compliance completed. I feel like the government bodies need new blood with skills sets that Mendocino proper currently doesn't offer. Volunteering only goes so far. This govt body doesn't pay enough for me to be there but I did a lot of tedious work out of a desire to improve the area and my investments in the area. Many experienced people have come and gone within the govt seeing the dysfunction as suffocating and endless. I have hope for Ukiah along with Mendocino to evolve but I have done more than a fair share of volunteer time here (In under paid wages) and I built a second house in Ukiah to make my tiny contribution to reduce the housing shortage here. I will stay positive but eventually I will outgrow this area if the learship bodies here don't bring in more resources from the outside to help lower the costs in this town. Ukiah being part of CA is in a fortunate position to make it a spot on the map with beautiful scenery and ideal position to be a hot bed for new talent if Ukiah wants to be more inclusive of the outside world.
Are you investing a home? My question is- I’m sure you’re making more than the average person there so you should be good no?
@@Calbear707trees I'm not going to disclose my finances but I did well enough. My wife and I worked day jobs here but I also have businesses in socal, which made this place easier to live in. I did build a house here and flipped a long over due condo. It was a challenge but a great experience especially during the covid years. My wife didn't feel safe here when she was alone and the lack of businesses in town made the city feel empty. We are used to more bustling downtowns with inviting businesses and a clear interest in welcoming people to the core area. Ukiah's core area didn't give us that feeling. Lots of overpriced boutique shops, empty shops, a giant vacant hotel, sleeping homeless, shell shops, and opportunistic mental cases roaming the streets. I think Ukiah has potential even with all this said, but some new underlying direction is needed.
Dukes of Hazard on Lake Mendocino Dr
I know this from daily experience
It’s not a bad place to live or anything you shouldn’t not want to move there it’s a great place there’s a lot of nice people it’s kind of like a rundown city in a small town but like other than that it’s a really good place to live there’s parks many parks that you can go to it’s a beautiful place
Totally agree! I'm glad you enjoyed living here just like I did. You can also watch these videos if you want to know more about parks here: czcams.com/play/PL6LH-BGuv0J7XRMo2nYFsiVUOS3eb2o6M.html
In Ukiah they're building five major apartment complexes as of today go down Brush Street and go over by the highway 101 over pass north of Ukiah
Wanted to move there before 2020 now I'm in Alaska
Thank you for video, my husband has a opportunity for a job change to Ukiah from Bakersfield. We have a beautiful 1550 sq ft home that we purchased for 240,000, and it make me nervous selling it knowing the housing situation there. Do you have land for sale? Are there plenty of nice rentals? And if not, what about within a 40 mile range outside Ukiah? I appreciate your input.
Hi, I just commented on this video and we are also from Southern California (very close to Bakersfield) and I gotta tell you it is very different out here, it’s beautiful, everything is green and lots of rain so far. We have only been here a couple month but Ukiah is nice, I think Santa Rosa is also nice (it’s like a Valencia Ca). All the small towns in between are great. Good luck. I hope all goes well for you guys 😊
@@janetenegron1351 Let's hope we get more rain again next year and it stays green in spring and after summer.
Hi! Congrats on the new opportunity. There are not a ton of new homes or nice rentals and the rental market is pretty tight but if you are qualified and submit applications with various companies you can usually get in quickly! There is less than 10 pieces of land avaiable in the ukiah and surrounding areas, but if you reach out to me with your info and what you are looking for I can send more info your way! my email is kasie@wrealestate.net and my cell phone number is 7073917963
Please tell us about the churches and the Christian community in Ukiah
Ukiah is better than Santa Cruz where I grew up now I live by talmage it is too dam hot
Kid activities? The lake, bike trails all over the place, little league, Pop Warner football, soccer, city basketball, Todd Grove Park, City pool, skateboard park, Low Gap Park, open tennis courts on Oak Manor, hunting galore, fishing at the dams and the lake, hiking galore, open basketball courts at most of the schools, City summer youth programs, movies, and God forbid... the Library. Disneyland could be in Hopland and kids would complain.
interesting
Thanks for watching!
never been
Kids are more dirty minded
LOl
You think so? If so how so? Compared to where?
I lived in Ukiah from 1979 to 2010.
Nice place to live until the pot crap took over, Masonite closed. This town is now a complete S****t hole.
Pot will be the downfall of humanity
Allergic to weed lmao
This chic needs to move away. Ukiah is dope
I love Ukiah! But there are reasons someone wouldn’t want to live in any town, these are a few that I think people should be aware of before they move!
She’s a woman, not a “chic”. Move on, boy.
Your mom and I did already…..and ukiahs weak
