- We spent three days overlanding along the north rim of the Grand Canyon, and it resulted in some of the most spectacular scenery (and best campsites) we have EVER seen.

That rock feature you pointed out looked like hexagonal columnated basalt. So yep the lava. Neat!
Thought so! Thanks for confirming. It was pretty cool lookin'
That's what I'm here to say...thwarted comment!
@@WheretoNextOverlandYou should be familiar with this stuff from places like Frenchman Coullee!
@@JerodBeeson you're right ... I should. But I'm a lousy geologist 🤣
Awesome!! Beautiful views. Love your videos. Thanks for taking me along
Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos!
Wow! Just wow...thank you for sharing!!
That was an all-time great few days for sure!!
Amazing spot, I can barely remember being there. I need to go back and raft on that river! That cool looking columns on the hike down the Colorado river looks the same as the Devils Postpile in California. If it's the same thing, then it's called Columnar basalt or Basalt columns.
Oh man, rafting through the Grand Canyon would be incredible
Awesome. Been there a couple of time, always busy!
We must have lucked out! There were a few others, but not too many
I gotta make a trip out to see this area...seems like such a magical place to explore and be immerse in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Dude, it is 100% worth the trip. One of our favorite spots we've ever been!
This is an awesome video! We're overlanding to Southeast Asia, currently in Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 But honestly we're already dreaming of overlanding from Alaska to Argentina! Can't wait to follow along and discover the next videos. Enjoy and safe travels!!
Wow! Sounds like you are on one hell of an adventure!
Great video! Never knew much about that area. Got it on the radar for a future trip!
Thank you. It's definitely worth a trip!
Two incredible spots with some fun off-roading in between. Looks like a great time!
Dude, it was the definition of a great time! You gotta get out there and explore the Arizona Strip
You got to enjoy one of our favorite local spots out there at Whitmore. The entire AZ strip is a remote wonderful place to explore all the way around.
Yeah, I feel like we barely scratched the surface of what the AZ strip has to offer. Can't wait to go back!
Made the trek to Toroweap campsite years ago when my son was in his early teens. Camping nearby was the owner of the Maglite company. He gave my son an American flag Maglite. Newer online reservation system makes it difficult to get into that site these days. Stayed two nights. Ethereal landscape.
so pretty and nice place for a hike
One of our all-time favorite hikes, for sure!
Absolutely epic! Adding all this to the list 🤯 Another great episode 🤘🏻
You guys GOTTA explore down there. Mind blowing for sure!
Waooooo…. Que impresionante y majestuoso es el cañón y que preciosidad de vistas Gracias Gracias Gracias y muy buena Ventura para ustedes 😊
Epic stuff there. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks, yeah, it was incredible. The next video will be showing our favorite part of the trip. Editing it now!
Wow! This is a dream spot! Thanks for sharing your great adventures. How do we get some stickers?
Thanks for watching! One of these days we'll get some merchandise & stickers out there! So much to do, such little time!
Absolutely amazing, thank you for posting!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Thanks for watching!
1 mile down the grand cyn better than 1 mile up Multnomah Falls😅
My wife and i did a motorcycle trip to the grand cyn a few yrs ago. Freaking magical! Camping it sounds amazing and definitely on our bucket list
Duuuuuuude .... you're telling me about Multnomah Falls. Hilariously, that's where I proposed to Christine, and I hiked up the trail with a heavy jacket on because I didn't want to risk taking it off and losing the ring. Let's just say I was sweating .... for more reasons than one lol
@@WheretoNextOverland Omg, that's a great place to do that! On the platform up top, yeah?
@dvsmike yep!
Oh and i can't believe you missed the opportunity to do the homer simpson grand canyon quote😅
Hahaha. Oh man .... I guess I'm a bit too rusty on my Simpsons quotes

Nice
That was a nailbiter in some sections!! But so gorgeous! You said the hike you did was around 1 mi, how much elevation gain was it? Thanks!
Right around 1,000 feet I think!
Whitmore overlook is awesome. When did you go? There seems to be no wind. I was there last week 30+ mph gusts and 88°
We were there first week of April. Lucked out with the (lack of) wind for sure. Wind caught up with us a few nights later though. Bad enough to force a reroute
Appreciate the reply! We had the same route planned, whitmore to tuweep the next day. It got so hot and windy we abandoned whitmore the following day and headed up Mt Trumbull and camped in the forest. 20 degrees cooler and no wind. Great video!
@@turk_ctsv7181 We've learned that NOTHING sucks more than camping in heavy wind. Not rain, not cold, not heat .... wind ruins a night at camp pretty quick
@WheretoNextOverland totally agree! Wind sucks lol..the shortcut you took to tuweep, was that going through mt Logan just past the bar10 ranch?
@@turk_ctsv7181 yep! It was a lot of fun
Stayed in the Whitmore wash in April.
We were there early April. Weather was perfect!
Wow great place do you mind sharing the location on this campground
Whitmore Canyon
Could you get an Airstream there? It’s been on plenty of trails but it’s rough turning around when you need to.
Possibly, but I don't think I'd try it personally. The last 8ish miles get a bit steep and rocky. Nothing too bad, but the rocks are super sharp out there.
@@WheretoNextOverland Ok thank you for your response! Love your channel. I think I’m the only person I’ve seen running E load range Toyo MTs on an airstream. I might try it. See you down the road ✌🏽
If you mean Whitmore, your Airstream would be destroyed before you got there. Ground clearance would be your biggest issue, along with no room to turn around. I advise against it. Toroweap is not as rough, but it is in the NP, and trailers are prohibited there, I think.
@@timaugustine3856 Torroweap is actually MUCH rougher than Whitmore (assuming you drive all the way to the viewpoint). But I agree with your sentiment about an Airstream not being adviseable going to Whitmore
@@WheretoNextOverland I don't remember it being that rough, but it was 10 years ago, and my memory isn't what it used to be. You were just there, so I will defer to your experience.
hey where do you get your music from? I'm looking to get some for my videos but I need a license for everything :/
I've been using Artlist for the past few years. I really like it. Huuuuge library of music and definitely better quality stuff than the free CZcams library (which is what I used prior).
@@WheretoNextOverland sure, thanks! I'll get a look. Sometimes it's hard to find what perfectly fits.
@FullsendOffroad I hear ya. Finding music that fits can be pretty time consuming
Nice
