This Chinese audience had actually never heard Dimash sing before, and had no idea who he was. He was the "black horse" from Kazakhstan in a contest full of mainstream Chinese singers the audience new and loved. Dimash was actually very nervous here, though you would never know considering his amazing stage presence. After this performance it was like a landslide in Asia and he was instantly a star there. He was bombarded by fans at the airport a few days later when he flew to France, at their request, after hearing about Dimash's beautiful song previously sung by France's beloved Gregory Lemarchal, who passed shortly after doing a beautiful cover of SOS. He humbly commented to his fans that the day before he was just an ordinary person. It's been a little over a year now and he's legendary in Asia. May God keep his soul and bless his heavenly voice to continue bringing peace throughout the world. Enjoy your journey and be prepared to be amazed time after time by this incredible boy who was only 22 at the time of this video. He's since flown to America once in November 2017 to be an audience member in the AMA's. Obviously they had no idea who was in their presence or they would have never let the opportunity pass for him to perform. We American dears can't wait to one day see him in concert here.

Thank you very much for reaction. Dimash is the best vocalist in the world in the moment. Even that he has an contract in China many best producers from Russia, France and USA are offering cooperation to him. He is not just a singer but he is also very talented and he wants to establish new style in music he call it neo-classic style. He will be a legend of this generation. He is also very intelligent but also very humble and simple man. Although his popularity is steadily rising, he maintains his own personality and says that the stars are in the sky, and that he is just a very ordinary man who works very hard.

Please, please watch Dimash's videos under Gloria Wu's channel. She has done incredibly accurate translations and has added English subtitles for all of Dimash's songs. She also does the backstory for each song so you understand what it is about. You will be even more blown away! Each of the song's Dimash chose in this competition have an amazing history behind them, and each song got better and better!!! Watch his 2nd performance called "Opera 2"! Go to her channel and rewatch SOS. You may not to want to record your reaction for this song. You did a video about your struggle with Depression. I too struggle and this song spoke to my soul and will likely do the same to you. I cried through the whole damn song! Go back and give it a second listen with the English subtitles. Have some tissues close by. You may want to watch all of his performances in this competition called "The Singer". You know the insane part, he got second place!!!! WTF!!!!! Obviously some background politics or something going on. He should have easily taken FIRST PLACE!!!!! Just my opinion though..... just sayin' :-(

A Dimash song is like riding a roller coaster through a mini-opera where all parts are performed by the same person who has no limits to his voice. He can sing in any octave (six so far), any vocal timbre, any style, any language (one dozen so far) and transition seamlessly between these within the same musical phrase. From one song to the next and from one note to the next it's a constant string of delightful surprises pouring from the heart of this extraordinary artist. Whether the language is familiar or not, you'll understand what he is trying to communicate.
His mother is an opera singer, his father a pop star/music producer and he started musical training at age 5. As a teen he trained operatically at an arts school but with his range that meant performing as a tenor and a soprano. His tone is so exceptional he actually was part of the female section of the choir. He then studied rock, pop and RnB vocal styles in college where he obtained a degree in Pop Music and Piano (he plays several instruments well including the Khazak dhombra and the drums). His goal is to tastefully combine these vocal techniques, along with some Turkic and folk elements of his native land, to create a musical fusion that is unprecedented.
The only problem is that he is so good (often note perfect) on demanding arrangements of the most difficult songs that people doubt their ears on first hearing. Technology is so over-used in the music industry and so many performances are lip-synced that it's easy for the unfamiliar to underestimate what they are hearing. Dimash always wants to sing live and doesn't want his voice digitally enhanced and he nearly always gets his way. That's great for us as, at this point, he is the most amazing vocal talent ever.

@@AdamCouser he was classically trained but is pursuing a career in pop music. Just recently he inserted rap too in his performance. Then the next day he sang in his opera voice (imagine josh groban). This guy is crazy. He can sing in all genres.
Well, to assert that Dimash is not an opera singer is tiny-whiny off the mark. He has almost twenty years of opera training behind his back. The National Opera of Kazakhstan invited him to join their ensemble as their lead male singer, but Dimash turned down the invitation explaining that he wants to create something new, something startling. And that's what we have the privilege of being witnessing: Dimash creating something very new in terms of music.

This song was from a famous French musical "Starmania" so he sang in French, Dimash only speaks his native Kazakh and Russian he is working hard to improve his English and Chinese and always tries to sing a song in its native language. Say hello....I’m entertained! You’re great Adam! This is Dimash’s first performance on the show. NO ONE in the audience or the other competitors had heard him sing before this! The audience was told to give him a warm welcome because he was the first to perform, he was a guest and he was the youngest competitor ever on the show! After this show aired he was an instant phenomenon. Europe and China couldn’t get enough of him and he was mobbed wherever he went. Now the whole world is getting to know this incredible, talented, kind and humble man. There are no words in any language to sufficiently describe him. He sings in 12 languages, plays 7 or 8 instruments, composes beautiful music and chooses and arranges all of his own songs! His concerts are sold out in an instant. People are coming from all over the world to hear his London concert in November this year. They are having trouble finding a big enough venue! He is “hands down” the greatest singer in the world! His magical voice and his charisma draw you into his heart thus he exquisitely imparts his deep emotions to his audience! I’ve run out of English superlatives to describe him and so I must end here. Thank you for again sharing your experience of Dimash with us. He truly is out of this world. You can almost feel your feet leaving the ground as he effortlessly starts climbing those octaves, all the while with supreme control.
As others have suggested, you definitely need to install a seatbelt in that chair of yours if you are going to watch Opera 2 and maybe throw in a couple of airbags too just to be on the safe side. 😄

If you liked that, you should watch him sing the song "Late Autumn" - it is ALSO an 'I Am A Singer' contest show - but WATCH GLORIA WU's video of this (just search her channel, it'll pop up - she does EXCELLENT work!!!), it has all the translations (press the CC button) and a brief background explanation of the song .... it's SO beautiful, and powerful, and sad... just WATCH IT!!!! You may want to re-watch her video of this exact performance as well, as all her vids of Dimash have the translations and brief explanation of the meaning/making of the song, so it's more meaningful and impactful that way.

Your reactions are great I have watched him since 2017 I have watched loads of other people reactions and I still love to see their faces because he is so amazing. Nobody knew him before this in China they are cheering because it’s the start of the show as he was first on, in the background the other competitors are sort of taking the piddle a bit but boy does he show them again and again ,his voice is incredible. Some of the others are really good to I sent a link to a group for you they were third and are brilliant. Opera2 is next oh boy what a treet

Dimash has the soft woman's mixed voice, the deep man's barritone voice, the clear mixed tenor voice, the throaty round woman's tenor voice, the blasting Adam Lambert tenor, the Freddie Mercury Scream, the Blue Alien from the Bruce Willis movie Contralto voice, and his super-human baritone and the super-natural falsetto. His range is OFF my piano keys. OMG.
FYI - this was the very first contestant on The Singer 2017 in China - the audience was clapping cause it was the beginning of the show - they really didn't know who this singer from Kazakhstan was. This was his "break-out" performance which spread on the internet.
