Thank you. So much of Pile 4 fits for me. Don’t want to indulge in internet self-aggrandizement, but I often feel that I suffer from a kind of emotional Dunning-Krueger effect. People know they like me and that they feel better around me. Then over time, as they offload more and more of their burdens onto me, and when I finally say “enough” or I have a breakdown on their behalf, I get blamed for being unstable. They have no clue how much work I’ve done for them on energetic planes. And how much more sensitive and attentive to their emotional needs I am than they are to mine. Not all friends of course, but so many. Moving forward in my life, I’m going to be more careful about how much I take on. Because I have the bad habit of processing burdens for others (through their projective identification) and then losing my balance and getting dysregulated myself. When I isolate for weeks, I’m mostly fine. No mood swings, no dysregulation. And with friends who don’t have these tendencies, it doesn’t happen. No more. Not mine.
