  • In 2019, Whadjuk Noongar artist Sharyn Egan was commissioned to create an artwork for a feature window in the Kurongkurl Katitjin Art Gallery building on Edith Cowan University's Mt Lawley campus in celebration of the 2019 National NAIDOC theme 'Voice, Treaty, Truth'.
This short film follows its inception and development, showcasing Sharyn's
signature use of liquid 'balga' resin as her medium of choice - 'balga' being the local Aboriginal name for the native grass tree Xanthorrea - resulting in 12 unique artworks that reflect her deep love for her country and the importance of her Aboriginal heritage to her art practice.
Sharyn's work was then photographed and arranged by Perth artist Rick Vermey into images able to be printed onto glass panels.
The installation of the artwork was inaugurated at ECU's opening night of celebrations for 2019 National NAIDOC week on July 5th, 2019.
