Guthrie Govan
Thank you for not playing one his most popular songs.
buckethead is easily one of the most interesting/talented guitarists ive ever heard. his ability to create atmosphere and emotion is second to none
I agree. He is in a class of his own.
And to cover all genres!? He is THE GOAT
Факт👍
Sucks that people don't know this dude anymore. His pikes are amazing.
No I’m glad they don’t. His Pike series is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to music
@@Skwid-Lives why, so you can gatekeep for yourslef?
gatekeeping is important
reject intersectionalism
Best kept secret!!
@@jimmychucksluckfluck8805 yes.
I think Buckethed is actually the greatest guitar player. He has amazing technique and creativity.
His compositional talents are incredible.
He’s amazing but you should hear his teacher Paul Gilbert ridiculous players
@Dr Dave Witten
Buckethead runs circles round those guys
Flatt and Scruggs pretty hot too. What they did with one mic only is wtf .
@@drdave971everyone who knows buckethead knows Paul Gilbert lol
Buckethead is the best ever
David Gilmour has entered the chat.
Seriously, they're both great. Two completely different styles. There's room for both of them. 😊
@@dextermorgan1really? Are you serious?
@@ncshaw7772 I'm serious, and so was Fender(you know, the guitar company) when they called him the best guitarist of all time.
@@dextermorgan1entering with only ONE tone……he entered but no one noticed
@@dextermorgan1 Gilmore wishes he could play like buckethead😂 Nottingham lace is 25 times better than anything Gilmore ever put out. Buckethead was already ranked in the top 10 at 21 years old
I love Buckethead. Crazy shredding as well as super emotional songs. Some of my favourite songs of his are The Closed Triptych, Northern Lights, Nottingham Lace, Coats of Claude, Siege Engine, Machete, Big Sur Moon, All In The Waiting, The Redeem Team, Listen For the Whisper, Coaster Coat, Padmasana and of course Soothsayer which is probably my favourite song ever. Super musical, super emotional, super shredding, superhuman. Buckethead is amazing
Population Override album is amazing also. Especially the track called Too Many Humans.
@@serhatgultasli holy shit forgot about that one. Too Many Humans is amazing. Also forgot Pike 65, Coupon and Aunt Suzie. He just has too many good songs lol
@@radioactivedragonite2420 Yes too many good songs:) and i would add Remember to the list also. A very chill, melodic and beautiful improv over gymnopedie no. 1 chords. The list goes forever lol.
Poseidon (the whole album), Project Little Man, Shaded Ray, Mount Shasta, Passageway 5, Pitch Dark, and on and on. He has an unbelievably long list of fantastic tracks.
all the albums the songs you mention come from are GOAT
Buckethead has at least one album for every possible emotion!! He is absolutely amazing, his range on guitar is unparalleled.
one of the most fluent and technical players of all time. truly the best
I think Bucket Head and Guthrie Govan are unbelievably fluent on the guitar! 🎸
My man!
Buckethead is criminally underrated, easily the best and my most favourite guitarist ever, his technical skill and music writing and compositional skills are truly unfathomably incredible
Buckethead was one of the biggest inspiration when i was younger. Never seen anyone rip into a song like he does.
He is underrated. Not only can he shred like no other, he also took simpler solo's like Nightrain and made them his own, look at 2002 live versions with GNR.
Buckethead is one of the craziest deepest rabbit holes to go down, if you you get hooked on a popular song like soothsayer and then check out more of his work its all over for you.....I like to think of the pikes as long single songs with multiple parts....some of them are really odd and not my bag of chips but when your mood syncs up with a paticular pike man its like locking into another world....not since Hendrix have I heard a guitarist that makes you want to explore everything he has done.....bonus that he is a super cool dude and so great to his fans😎👍
I've seen Buckethead 3 times live, and every time he has filled my entire soul with emotion and inspiration for what guitar playing can be.
The greatest guitar virtuoso alive in my opinion.
No one else has recorded as much incredible guitar work in one lifetime, other than Prince. "Soothsayer" Live is up there with mind boggling expression like Vai's "For the Love of God."
I absolutely love his more emotional and toned down albums such as "Electric Tears" and "Colma."
I love Buckethead he is one of the most creative musicians i have ever listened to. Eddie Hazel is a very underrated guitarist imo.
For as big as funkadelic was. Eddie is extremely underrated
You said a mouthful Bro Eddie was one best but unrecognized because nobody turns to funk when it comes to fantastic guitar players he was definitely 1 of them thanks for bringing him up
Hazel was up there with Hendrix.
🤟Maggot Brain 🤟
His use of the arcade style kill button is next level unique. Tom Morello may have introduced me to it, but old Head made it his own.
Ace Frehley.....am I a joke to you with the stutter kill switch idea 😉lol!
Saw him live, he takes you on a journey. Absolutely incredible.
I was so sad I had a show to play in a different state when he was in town on his last run, myself and the guitarist from the headlining band of the show we played debated on ditching the show to see Buckethead. Glad to hear Bucket's heart issues have lightened up since then since it was alleged to be his last run at the time due to them.
Buckethead saving my life, one song at a time.
Themes are extremely important especially in instrumental guitar music.
Not sure how well Gary Moore is known stateside, the man could shred with the best or play one note that made you cry. Astonishing player.
Gary Moore's rock albums are great.
@@dougsteeleguitar absolutely. When he moved into blues territory I lost interest but in recent years I started to check out his blues stuff too and some of it is incredible. Still shredding but in a bluesy way. There’s a live version on CZcams of him doing ‘The Messiah Will Come Again’ that’s got some of the most jaw dropping guitar work I’ve ever heard. It’s blues, but not as we know it 🤘🙂
Here in Texas, he is known to have the 2nd best vibrato EVER.....BB King being.......well King.
@@briansbrain426 I’m glad he’s known in Texas 🙂 Wasn’t sure how well he was known. I’m sure you’ve seen him and BB doing Thrill is Gone. Sublime.
Loving Gary Moore here in the US
He's very well-known. He was first on a major label back in 1993 with the Last Action Hero Soundtrack. The strap he has used since like he was 12 is elastic. He reminds you of Paul Gilbert because he was a student with Paul Gilbert when he was like 17, he moved into Gilbert's house and took lessons from him for like another two years.
Happy to see Buckethead getting some love in 2022. Legend.
literally my favorite guitarist/arist/human being/everything for the past 2.5 years. this man has saved my life with his music and i'm forever gonna be in debt. i'm obsessed with him, so this video was a treat!! i'm currently in love with his pike #38 "it smells like frogs"
I got to see buckethead at ozzfest 98, he played as fill between songs for primus...he is amazingly talented...the KFC bucket is a genius touch lol
Buckethead ranks in my all-time top 5 favorite guitarist of all time
I've been listening to Buckethead for nearly 15 years and my favorite is the stuff from around the time this video was filmed, 2004-2006. Every album he put out was distinct and filled with memorable riffs. Often he would create a melody and solo over that instead of just shredding over a simple chord progression.
That era was incredible.... The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock; Bucketheadland 2; Inbred Mpuntain; Crime Slunk Scene; Albino Slug; Colma; Enter the Chicken - all the classics
Bucket head is amazing it's sad he's not famous as he was
I agree Big B has so much talent that it's hard for earth to keep it contained with gravity alone. As far as him not being a famous rockstar... I think there's a good chance Bucket prefers it that way. He has always valued his privacy more than fame and/or notoriety. Either way we are all lucky to have such a unique artist to enjoy.
@k7j007 yeah he pretty much chose to not be famous. Not only (imo) the best guitarist to ever live, but a very very interesting man/story.
Thank you Shred , Buckethead is musically limitless and seems like a genuine very nice dude. You got my sub with this one!
I found Buckethead earlier this year, he’s truly a musical genius, really impressive player, and he’s become my number one listened to artist. And he was taught by Paul Gilbert if you didn’t know! That’s why their sounds are somewhat similar
Only for a few lessons
Not really taught by him more-so pebber brown but paul did spend some time with him
Buckethead is truly an amazing talent. His personal perspective on music is unlike any other. To him every riff, melody, song is so much more than just something you listen to. He has a child like imagination and has spoken about how he thinks of and creates music. To him he views the music in his head like a movie. each note isn't just a note, they are basically like movies in his mind he then translates into music through his guitar. It isn't just putting notes together to create music, he is trying to give a peek into that sometimes crazy but always awesome mind of his. Check out his amusement park Bucketheadland if you ever have a chance
I believe Paul Gilbert was his guitar teacher back in his youth.
I love Buckethead,guy is a boss
The guitar strap he is using here is a levy's the original no1 stretch strap. It's basically elasticated, they are really comfortable and great for heavy guitars.
Thanks, Shred!! I literally didn't know about this dude. Awesome video, bro.
Wishing you and your crew a great week.
Peace and brotherhood,😃🎸🙏
Mac
I have commented before about lord Buckethead on some of your polls. Nice to see him get some love
"But then you see some guy like Buckethead… Buckethead is probably twice as good a guitar player as me and Slash combined, and can stand having fried chicken rubbed up against his face
all night for a couple of hours."
- Dave Mustaine
Buckethead has been my favorite guitar player for almost 16 years
"Shawn Lane is the greatest musician ever"
-Buckethead
NYC by buckethead still makes me cry......bucket is god..
Best guitarist today can play anything shreds but never overplays can be minimal so.many styles and influences from blues metal funky you name it he does it better than anyone lots of emotion and feelings the best!!!!!!! And a good person too!!
I never really payed much attention to Bucket up until 3 years ago. Nowadays, I have more Bucket material than any other guitar player I have ever been influenced by/ And to add to the topic itself..." I don't know who knows who Buckethead is, until I wear a Buckethead T Shirt around town. The ones who know and love his music will most always reveal themselves to me in passing , and it is always 'positive energy' I receive in return! That is the power of Buckehead.
The most under rated aspect of his playing his his ability to control the velocity of notes using weak volumed notes with strong ones.
I've tried for years to learn his style, I'm still learning every day...
He is a Music Machine.. And a humble person.
Colma is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Shred, Buckethead is an INCREDIBLE guitarist, and by far, my favorite. Listen to his "Electric Tears" album - specifically, the songs "The Way to Heaven," "Angel Monster," "Padmasana," and "Baptism of Solitude." His playing is beautiful in all of those songs.
Love that album
if you like that, then the entire albums of "electric sea" "a real diamond in the rough" & "monument valley" would be right up your alley.
@@x1134x Thanks, man! I'll be sure to check those out. 😄
So.many great emotions in his songs try blue tide Mrs. Beasley and hundreds more! No lie!!!!
My favorite Buckethead album. The entire this is flawless. Datura, mustang, and electric tears are right up there with the ones you listed.
I am very happy that you make a video about my favorite guitarist of all time 😇
I showed my father Buckethead one time all I heard for a month was buckethead playing in the other room.
Yes, absolutely. I saw him live a few days ago and am still reeling from it. I've never seen anything quite like that! I imagine if Jimi Hendrix saw Buckethead play, it would have the same effect on him that he had on Eric Clapton. Buckethead gives me great feelings of inspiration coupled with inadequacy LOL!
Praxis performing maggot brain and machine gun is perfection. Nobody does Hendrix like buckethead.
Finally a video about him
I have seen many of the great guitarists: Yngwie, Petrucci, Satriani, Paul Gilber, Vai, Eric Johnson, Angel Vivaldi, and on, but Buckethead is definitely on that level. And he played the House of Blues. Tons of people came out to see him.
He's more versatile then any of them
All those other cats don’t venture out of their tone, Buckethead covers all genres
I keep watching your videos and they make me want to learn to play guitar better.
I still follow this guy since the mid-00's. I have some records of his and theyre my favorites to blast thru my old Marantz amp.
My wife was Buckethead for Halloween last year.
We love his Pikes series.
keep it up! all the best
Buckethead is not contemporary music. It's a free flow of ideas and inspiration, cooked by his perfect execution to something polished without loosing its rawness. Like, uhm, inspiration but medium rare rather than raw. Not for everybody, including me, but damn he can play his ideas.
Exactly, Buckethead is one of those hyper creative people. Nonstop ideas in his head and can execute everyone of them.
He's been one of my favorites for years he's a great improviser
Buckethead does what ever he wants because he's Buckethead.
I sw buckethead in houston when he was touring with."that one guy" . Absolutely amazing musician/showman. And to see it from 10 feet away with no obstruction was phenomenal.
@Shred
Like Buckethead thinks...Shawn Lane is the very BEST unknown guitarist! R.I.P. Shawn 😞
I love Buckethead’s music SO much! No other artist can bring out all the feels like this guitarist. I played some his chill music during one of my Yoga classes and got so choked up I had to pause and collect myself. His beautiful songs make me cry.
Seeing him live is on my “bucket list”😉
Thank you Bandcamp, for the Pikes n more!
Had the pleasure of seeing him in a theater setting, in Boston!🤘👍🔥😎
Right. To me he's not just playing fast, his music makes since, even when he's playing fast.
I saw him in 2019 pre Covid. 100% would go see him again if I can.
I have seen Buckethead live 5 times...... dude blows me away every time. He don't have a merch table and is leaving money on the table.
Hallelujiah!!! I love the way you analyze Buckethead in terms of music.
im a very big buckethead fan thank you for covering this, would love to see more bucket head on your channel
So right on about the melody and musical hooks! Great songs are were its AT.
yeah boi!!!!! shred you kick ass man, thanks for posting a buckethead video. ive known about him for several years but now more people can hear about bucket!!!!!! \m/
Bucket is a maestro . The more I listen to his stuff, the more I like it 🤘
you are 100 percent correct on this Shred
*YES MORE BUCKET*
I’m a Bucket fan!
Elastic strap! It's not just for looking cool, it helps my back not hurt when playing for extended periods of time
He is playing tomorrow in Boston!
I bartend at the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco through out the 90s. I got to see bucket a bunch of time. I have even seen him with out his mask.
Happy to see a deeper cut reacted to rather than Soothsayer or Nottingham Lace
i currently have 47 buckethead albums and 5 signed vinyls on my shelf. gradually trying to get all the pikes. lol. im glad hes getting more attention, even if its mostly online.
5:48 to answer your question, he use to use a strap that was elastic, that way he would do his signature move where he'd push his guitar down.
As far as him being unknown, I don't think so. Every guitar player I've met and talked shop about big pro players all know Buckethead, and if you didn't you're living under a rock.
However for sure Buckethead is definitely underground and had he not join GnR would not be as well known as he is today.
He's really just referring to the general public. Even rock fans probably won't know who Bucket is if they don't play guitar. Guitar players of course know who he is though.
Bucket heads machine gun rendition is about as crazy as hearing Hendrix for the first time.
Shred was drooling over bucket on the attenuator (kill switch)
For me it’s vinnie moore, dude was a complete monster back in the 80s
Time Odyssey by Vin and Maximum Security by Tony MacAlpine are my favorite shred records.
@@keeponlivin81 I had maximum security when it first released 87. Time oddessy Vinny moore I bought 88. I've listened to all shrapnel guitarists for decades. In 2000 friend told me I needed to listen to Buckethead. I heard Bucketheads name but I did not know his music. Buckethead album 'colma' changed me. I loved it from the first time. And I also thought it was stupid when buckethead joined guns and roses. Shawn lane didn't think Buckethead fit in with guns roses either. Guns n roses 80s 90s does nothing for me in later years .Of all guitar players I listen to Buckethead most. Although I like ichika nito's playing. Its peaceful in same way buckethead is..Polyphia is great, even though I don't listen to Polyphia I like tims tutorials.
Idk how you ended up on my feed, because I don’t play guitar, but I’ve been watching your videos for the past two weeks. You’re hilarious bro 😂 💀
Stay evil my dude 👊🏼
I saw Buckethead with Guns n Roses. After a raging guitar solo, the solo continued…with a pop and lock dance…and then nunchuck skills…
Didn’t Paul teach Buckethead i heard once? They’re both SoCal dudes so it makes sense. He mastered that Paul Gilbert pick attack, but he also throws in some gnarly legato in between. So bad ass 🤘🏻🤘🏻
dude you make me laugh 😂.
nice vids
Rocky George!! Most underrated shred monster
Buckethead is one of if not the best guitarist. Incredible player.
I always play Buckethead on road trips. Plenty of hrs long mixes on CZcams.
Buckethead is phenomenal, the best guitarist that's ever lived. He may not be the most influential or commercially successful musician out there, but in terms of skill and sheer technique this guy is unmatched.
I believe he is in an old Guitar For The Practicing Musician magazine. The section where readers sent in demo tapes and a pic and the magazine should feature 3 guys on one page with a short bio. So there is the pic of him with no bucket or mask. I’ll have to find that magazine in my basement.
Literally my idol!
Not a close second to BuckETheaD. Shawn lane was shawn is gone from us & BuckETheaD praises Shawn always as the gr8est ever. I thank the Lord for introducing me to BPC. He is a tremendous human being as well loves his fans & engages them @ all his shows handing out gifts from his goody bag & thank u for this clip it is always soothsayer that people play & he has thousands of awesome jams
his strap is elastic it’s a set size but if you push down on the guitar it will move and come back when you stop pushing it.
been a fan for many years. got to see him twice.
his shows are so awesome. if you haven’t gone to one you should definitely look for next time he goes out on tour and go see him live.
man this concert ni Mishawaka amptitheatre is Buckethead's best concert ever, there are lots of/if not all of this songs are amazing
i was listening to his song “For Mom”, and hearing the A and F chord he uses i played along with it and eventually i found the little extension he used on those chords. BRO those stretches were pretty crazy lol he’s like the Franz Lizt of rock.
6'6" gives you a heck of a spread. I know because I'm 6'5" 😆
Always my favorite
Found him recently, guy is great
he completely changed my life, his pikes are a ray of light, taking u to different places through songs. HE IS THE BEST, LONG LIVE CHICKEN LORD
Oh those in the know understand how great Buckethead is. Bucket replaced Gilmour as my favorite guitarist. That’s saying something
