- This video is a tutorial on 3 headscarf styles dated the 1940s. But first I talk a little about popularisation of the headscarf in this period, history of scarves and some interesting facts about Jacqmar head scarves in the war period.
For this headscarf tutorial from the 1940s, I used a vintage cotton scarf” Les olivades” 30” x 30” ( 77x 77cm)
And a large silk vintage scarf 36” x 36” ( 91 x 91cm)
If you like vintage scarves here are some lovely scarf on Etsy:

Houses that were heated by coal fires could be dusty places. When I was a little girl my mother used to clean out the grate and do her chores dressed in an apron and with her hair tied up with a scarf. With the household tasks completed she would change into into her 'day wear' and go and do her shopping. Happy memories! PS All those women who 'did their bit' deserve our respect.
Thank you so much for your comment, Maureen! It means a lot to me!
I love the projector sound. It feels like I’m in class. ❤
Elena...thank you for preserving history and making it look elegant and chic
Thank you for your comment Christine! It means a lot! Elena
Very pretty! Im gonna wrap my hair up like this for work.
With my very long hair I find the snood style most useful because I can protect the length of my hair without having to tie it up first. Thanks.
Thank you so much! This style is so unusual, and not many women dare to wear it now :)
yes.. like tell it to the bees movie..leading lady was working in a factory during 1950 in scotland.. love it..😍😍😏
Thank you so much Yuzu Mei! I will definitely watch it! :)

Thank you 😊
Thank you :)
Love this!
Thank you! :)
I wish to develop good style like you one day
Oh, thank you ! you are so kind!
These are beautiful! I'm wondering if they would able to stay in place on a bald chemo head... I'll give it a try!
Thank you! Have you tried an underhat for wigs to keep the scarf in place? Also, you can use a cotton scarf instead of a silk one, cotton is less slippery :) I hope you will be ok soon
Thank u!!!
You are welcome! :)
I have been trying to find scarves this size for years! I can only find silk scarves for $300. So frustrating.
I've seen a lot on Etsy
In the Soviet Union they were practically always popular.
Agree!
Wish I would have seen this before that woman ruined my hair with the worst haircut I've ever had in my life
Oh, I'm so sorry! I hope it will grow very fast!
