I always enjoy watching CZcamsrs cover norwegian matches, and it's incredible to finally also see my beloved Fredrikstad FK getting some attention.
Around 3:27, you mentioned tear gas. The police actually had to use tear gas against a group of people on the other side of the river as they marched towards the stadium. It was the same bunch dressed in black, who threw all the flares out on the pitch. That's why they blocked off the bridge for a while, so it wouldn't escalate and end up in a huge fight.
According to a lot of Sarpsborg supporters, they've never even seen most of those people before. Apparently, it was just a group of people who came to the match just to cause trouble. The rumor was that they came all the way from Sweden, but I have no idea if that's true or not.
Another derby this year that's worth checking out, is Vålerenga vs. Lyn in OBOS-Ligaen (tier 2). If I could recommend just one match this year (besides the Østfold derbies of course) it would definitely be this one.
VIF and Lyn are both from Oslo, and it's without a doubt the biggest derby in Norway. This year, the two clubs meet again in league matches for the first time since 2009. Lyn were relegated the same year, and in 2010 they went bankrupt and had to start again on the 7'th tier. They were promoted to the second tier again last year, and Vålerenga were relegated from the top division.

No wonder you, and so many more, havent heard about this derby.
Its been a long time coming. since before 2008, Sarpsborg didnt have any team competing in the top flight. Their original team Sarpsborg FK is the last one to have made an impact. S08 is an collaboration effort which has worked out.
While after 2008 Fredrikstad FK has had massive issues on and off the pitch. Almost went bankrupt during the following years aswell.
So the teams has managed to almost avoid eachother completely.
The derby is more of a town rivalry more than a club rivalry. And it started all the way back in 1560 already. Football later became the way to let the rivalry unfold and when the boys in Fredrikstad declined Hugh Kenworthys request to join the team, he turned around and founded Sarpsborg FK.
Reason as to why he was denied? He was from sarpsborg.
There is alot of history between the teams and im so happy you managed to secure a ticket and watch the game.

Had a different experience last weekend at Fredrikstad with an evening kick off played in 27° heat. An early red card probably contributed to a goal less draw however my last game in Stabaek made up for the lack of goals there as they threw away a 4-0 lead after 60 minutes to lose 4-5!😮

Hey, you should try to Get tickets for The Vålerenga-Lyn game(The biggest Derby in Norway). Although they are in The 2 divison this season, it is The game with The most rivalry. You should look up The game that was some weeks ago, on CZcams. In october they meet again.🔵
The game is played on August 26th. Gonna be fantastic, like the last one a couple weeks ago.

Fredrikstad is the Norwegian version of Leeds (actually the Norwegian branch of Leeds fanclub was founded there). Lots of spectators, and usually at second or third level in Norwegian football last 30 years. But now we are finally back. And we will destroy Sarpsborg !
