It was taught in English language grammar: I've been: people pronounce it as "Been" but then the teacher said in spoken English it is pronounced "short" like "Bin" so it is I've bin. Then the students started modifying their accent for example "beach" is long, so say it "Bitch", and "cheek" is long so say it "Chick", and deep as dip, seek as sik.... and it messed up. Hindi and Bangala are sweet languages. One American said to an Indian/Bangli at the new year eve: Happy New year Mr. Sharma. And Mr Sharma smiled and replied "Shame to you, sir". Mr. John was a bit shocked. I remember when one newly arrived Indian guy was talking to a clerk and his reply was funny; there was some argument and the clerk said: did you see there was a misunderstanding. The guy replied I did not see any lady standing anywhere. These are all real. I was flying and an Indian guy siting next to me; sleeping while the aeroplane was about to prepare landing. The announcement was made but this guy was still tired and sleeping with the seat lowered. Then the flight attendent; a British; wake him up and said in fluent British spin: "Sir, cujh you please bring your seat ooll the way foorward? The guy wake up and look at the flight attendent an said., Execuse me! the flight attendent repeated. Then this gentleman looked down at the feet of the seat and replied: Sorry, I cannot do it the seat is bolted to the floor. But why do you want me to bring it all the way forward, does pilot need my company? She smiled and pushed him forward then pressed the button to bring the seat all the way forward. She thought it was a joke but didnot realize that people take such thing for literal meaning. I remember an American supervisor wanted to test some expensive items in a heating chamber that was malfunctioning. A Spanish technician fixed it and wanted to go for a run while expensive items were in the chamber. He said to the Spanish technician: " I feel like I have ants in my pant to start it? What about you? the tech replied: "I don't have any problem, but you should go to the bathroom and wash yourself, you will have big problem otherwise. Chao.
