My local Kung Fu is horribly maintained and the pads are consistently broken BUT when the game is maintained and at a low enough dumpling count it is a very very easy way to get tickets!

With every video I watch, I see more and more the manipulation tactics these machines use to swindle kids.
I can't even imagine what this stuff is like for actual casinos.

Casinos got more regulations than arcades do lol
But also this one being manipulated in a "the jackpot requires a higher score when it's not due to payout, but it's possible" way feels fair to me tbh

[EDIT: US SPECIFIC INFO] Real casinos are so much more transparent.
1: Games of skill are flat out not allowed, with some localized poker exceptions. No coin pushers, action games, claw machines or arcade style games can be found in a casino.
2: Machine games are (nearly?) always required to display a minimum expected ROI (usually 85-91% for most slots). These are independently verified by auditors not associated with game manufacturers or casinos. Video poker machines are also audited for accuracy and cannot easily be rigged.
3: Table games (e.g. Roulette, Blackjack) are heavily monitored for cheating by both players and dealers, coupled with strict policies.
In a casino, the game itself is rigged and you know how it is rigged before you even play. The house edge is baked into the payouts and you can do the math without spending. In an arcade, there are no rules or disclosures and even the value of your credits is masked similar to premium currency in video games. Gaming companies are MORE predatory toward children (and yes, it's the same companies; Konami is a frequent flyer in most casinos!)

This is always my go to game when I'm going to an arcade. Walk up give 1 or 2 attempts at the game, if no win, then it's not ready. I'll come back again at the end of my day and see if it's ready. So consistent if you have good reflexes.

5:24 I have fond memories of doing this with an angry birds arcade game, we found out it was easier and better to use your hands instead of the unwieldy foam mallet.
It hurt my palms and it bugged out a little, but it was worth it!
Seriously though, it was leagues more fun using your hands than playing it normally.

Oh hey, I remember seeing these things a couple of times. Brought back a few memories!
If we're talking more modern arcade games, I'd like to see what you think about the more complicated "coin pusher" kind of game. Specifically, one I found recently at Round One called "Smash Stadium" is actually pretty fun.

  • @bigmike8586

I'm not sure if you've ever seen it at your local arcades, but the Fruit Ninja game was one of my favorites, so if it's still around I'd love to see you cover it. The ticket payout wasn't crazy or anything, but it was certainly fun, and I found myself getting the high scores on multiple cabinets within a couple runs.

I played this a few days ago, and it was so easy to get tickets. The jackpot was only 250, but it matched well with the specific arcade's ticket economy. My Shifu Showdown was only like 25 dumplings in 22 seconds I think. It was a complete freebie. I wasn't really playing for tickets, but when I was about to leave, I went and checked to see if i could get the medium-sized rainbow Spongebob plushie, and I had to go back and put exactly 7.5 credits (how much the game took) on my card, just so I could get the free 250 tickets in the game...and then I had to do it again because I miscounted the ticket price on the plush.

5:19 Don't know if that's a dig at the arcade machine orthe board game, but I like the payout Monopoly machine with the big spin die. The one I played (at Cedar Point) was fair and had a pretty good payout for what it was. Don't know if that's how it always is or if I played it "at a good time" modes, but I could control it pretty well and scored decently on a regular basis.
This one and Wheel of Fortune (which paid out low, but is pretty much guaranteed by skill) took up most of my time there. Both good times in my opinion.

Solid write-up. 100% agree with the tier placement and the reasoning. To add to this:
My video on Panda (which includes back to back wins on 35 - outside the payout window) has every single possible pattern the game uses listed in the description. Clusters of 2 or 3 dumplings/mines can have 1 mine max. If you are running behind pace to win the jackpot, it will give you either a group of 6 dumplings, or 3 pairs in quick succession. In this case, there can be a maximum of 2 mines - one in the first 3, one in the second 3.
35 dumplings is the “no win” part of the payout spectrum. 34 dumplings is “okay it’s a bit harder but you can still win.” 33 is average difficulty. 30 is easy (round 1 and 2 give 22 and 20 seconds in this situation) and 25 is super easy (round 1 and 2 timers go to 25 and 22 - this usually only happens when one or more buttons have failed entirely.)
I know you said the physical carnival games like Clown and Tailgate aren’t your forte - maybe this is where you and I can collab?

  • @LamboMan573
    @LamboMan573 Před 4 měsíci

I didn't hear it outright get mentioned, but depending on if the game is ready to pay out, the jackpot round will NOT spawn enough dumplings to even try. I've spent quite a few rounds on this game on my Round1 trips, not worth the credits for how little tickets you get because not all of the dumplings spawn

My cousin and I split the pad responsibility and no one seemed to care. Though to be fair we won exactly one time ever over the course of two years. It helps that's it's actually pretty fun to play.

I remember playing one of these back at one of the arcades near where I usually shop at. Had a lot of fun farming credits even if the top right button didn’t work. But even then I still managed to get the jackpot more than a few times.

Just subscribed can you please cover skeeball? Watching some of your other videos but maybe also you can talk about the cost of arcade games and the prizes that you can buy with the tickets.
Personally I wish more arcades charged an entry fee and then just had every game for free. I mean I'd be willing to pay 20 bucks if it was an all-day pass and I could play all the ski ball or whatever games I wanted all day. I mean cuz honestly none of the prizes I really care about. And I just like playing the games. And honestly you can buy all the prizes cheaper online than you would by winning tickets.

As a gamer... Movie tie in games are typically horrid. The average ones are produced fast and cheap by a studios c team or interns (if lucky) or more usually by known shovelware studios. Occasionally you will get a good tie in like Cars for the PS2/Xbox/GameCube but those are very rare.
