At the very least the bloopers are hilarious, definitely worth a watch even if you're not a dub fan.
berserk is the few exceptions where the dub is actually better
and it makes more sense to because they’re in europe.
You should read the Berserk manga, it's the original story and has cut content and events after The Eclipse. The writing is more in depth too.
To be fair, Kentaro Miura did ask them to leave certain parts out since the anime was always intended to be kind of a long ad for the manga. If I remember right his reasoning was that in doing so, even those who picked it up because of the anime would still find a couple surprises when reading that arc and it wouldn't be just an arc they'd skip through.

Well Ris, funny you mention Guts' voice in this Death Battle, they're actually from a particular video game character, a SoulCalibur character. Remember in Nightmare's analysis how a knight named Siegfried was possessed by him and fought him? Yep, Guts' voice are slightly altered Siegfried voice clips.

The fact that they retained the English cast for the movies and had to switch out the Japanese cast says a lot.

I have to say this death battle made me research a lot more about Guts, I've seen his anime and read all the manga chapters... He became my favorite giant sword/blade wielder character ever!
i am curius of HOW could they make the "berserker armour work in an rpg"? you know sinse it "does not heal" but it does not "allow you to fall" maybe somethin like the "negative hp in D&D" in D&D if you reach 0 hp you are "uncunsius"(sorry if misspelled) and you die at -10. so maybe something like "you can fight until you reach -10 hp" or something with an added "bonebreak attacks,moves just cause bleeding"
I know I am late, but for D&D in special; Char gets a flat bonus of temporary HP and, once the char hits 0 or below HP, may make a fortitude safe everytime additional damage rolls in. If the char succeeds, he may keep fighting, but keeps stacking up negative HP, even beyond -10. Once the battle ends or a safe is failed, the negative HP hit full force. (better have a cleric at hand)
If you want to know and see for yourself, the Berserker armor first appearence was on the last two chapters from Volume 26.
The manga have 37 volumes but isn't finished yet.

Main thing I enjoyed about this battle: now people can stop saying they're biased against anime characters. Well, they probably won't stop saying that, but now we have something we can definitively point to to stop the conversation. One thing that doesn't quite sit right with me though is that they never addressed Nightmare's soul-stealing technique.
I'm pretty sure since Gut's soul has already been claimed by a demon, it can't be stolen by another until the body fades.
GurrenPrime Actually, before this battle anime vs. non-anime were going 3 to 3. Whoever said Death Battle hated anime is full of crap.

I love the opening theme to Berserk. the folk-type music is cool, and catchy. also, it makes me feel badass when I hear it. P.S: That bastard Griffith will get everything he deserves and then some.
You know one thing they forgot to bring up in the end discussion that doesn't change the outcome, the whole reason soul caliber even exists in the first place is because another sword had to have destroyed soul edge
I always thought that it would be better with Lex Luthor vs Norman Osborn. I mean, they are both multi-milionaires with companies that produce super weapons, they both have their combat armor (Warsuit and Iron Patriot) and, this is the impotant part, they are both villains!
Cause the thing is, heroes tend to win for the most part. They often have the odds stacked against them, and normally have a larger gallery of impressive feats.
Hey Ris, since you really enjoyed the anime of Berserk, you should definitely check out the manga. It's a bit hard to find it for free online, but the search is well worth the effort.

If you think about it, guts's story is basically the song "gods gonna cut you down" by Johnny cash.
This is what Death Battle needs on occasion, a good old fashioned swordfight. I for one had a feeling Guts was going to win, one reason is that Nightmare is slow and bulky while Guts has speed on his side
First: it was Nightmare then his second form Night Terror and finally Inferno!
Second: Nightmare said :"Tremble in my darkness!"
I am thinking of writing fights for Guts and Nightmare in my mini series Brawl of Titans, which serves the same purpose as Death Battle. I think they sold Nightmare a little short in this fight, i'm not saying the outcome would be different but it would have been nice if the fight went a little longer against Inferno.
I thought this one went how it should. I am a huge Berserk fan and know he has not lost to demons out of his league while Nightmare loses to button mashing assholes with nunchucks.
I am looking forward to the next one. While Iron Man is faster and more equiped, Lex has a stronger suit made for duking it out with Kryptonians. Iron Man could barely stall Thor, let alone win. But tech vs tech should be interesting.
well I know it's a year after this db reaction was created but just to note you Ris they are making a new series on berserk (the post eclipse series) they have 6. episodes so far and I do recommend watching them they are really good.

Actually, main issue is that because it was cut on the astral plane as well (Soul edge/Inferno go to a place called "Astral Chaos" to regenerate itself after its destruction) the soul of the blade is gone now, so really, Nightmare and Soul edge are permanently gone.
Joshua Kviring no, Inferno was destroyed permanently, as of Soul Calibur 5 he is completely gone.

I’ve met people who don’t like anime, like Berserk and the character of Guts specifically.
You know, at first I thought the only comparison here was that they had big swords, after watching this I realize just how perfect this match-up is. We have a demon slayer vs a demon, someone who is hounded for their soul vs someone who eats souls for breakfast....along with Shang-Tsung and Shao-Kahn. They also have unique arms, Gut's metal arm and Nightmare's claw and they can easily kill whole armies, also the fact that demons are freaking drawn to Gut's means that if these two existed in the same world, this would actually happen unlike Spiderman/Captain America vs Batman or Superman vs Goku. My only gripes about this is one, again a super powered form is quickly killed instead of a climatic battle with it and the fact that instead of Nightmare hunting Guts like he likely would be due to that brand, Guts just happens on him, a bit of an odd way to start it when you state that demons stalk him relentlessly and one of the fighters is a demon but oh well. As for the next one....eh...I understand the matchup but I would have liked Dr. Doom much better, he is more comparable than Tony because all Tony has going on is the power armor, Dr. Doom has a lot of similarities with Lex, would have made it more interesting than a power armor fight.

Well, Ness has the brain shock which allows him to blow an enemy's brain from inside, i think. That shit alone makes him really OP.

Nice to point out that Guts soul cannot be taken since he's already been branded, no wonder nightmare could not take his soul. Also Guts killed a sea god, he kills demons and gods everyday. Though the manga has been cutesy lately with Guts new party members.
