  • Join me as I head to Watermouth Castle Family Theme Park located in Devon! In this action packed vlog I experience everything this unique attraction has to offer for the first time. I start off inside the castle itself by taking a walk through all of the different rooms and displays. I then head out into the main part of the park and discover all of the quirky theming and details! I also share on ride POV's from the Toboggan Run, Snail Ride and a beautifully landscaped boat ride. Along with that, I share highlights from the fantastic fountain show and much more as I enjoy Watermouth Castle for the first time!

    7:48 it's taken years of my life to find video evidence of this hunchback in the dungeon because I can remember being scared of it as a little lad so vividly. thank you theme park worldwide!

    • @denbenouandmistletoerecove9364
      @denbenouandmistletoerecove9364 Před 2 lety

      It is supposed to resemble the hunchback of Notre Dame because he is ringing a bell. It also had a sound effect of a bell ringing but very creepy and a whirring sound to represent his bones creaking I think. Also there was a headstone down there too with a skeleton reflected on it playing bagpipes. It feels like you are in a cave down there and trapped in with a light somewhere.

    • @youngamericanferret422
      @youngamericanferret422 Před rokem

      In the dungeon you basically walk down the stairs towards a door that you open and then there is a window. You push the button in and a secne from Gulliver's Travels lights up. Then you Walk round the corner where there is a Hansel and gretel secne. Then down the next hallway is Snow White. Next to that is a Mineshaft with miners digging for gold. In the next tunnel is a headstone that lights up with a skeleton playing bagpipes and at the other end is the hunchback of notre damn. The next hallway is themed to look like an old street full of shops behind doors and windows with Greensleeves. There is a carpenter, chandler, taxidermist, potter, saddler and weaver. You walk through a door then into a room with lots of penny machines before you enter the haunted vault. It is like a hallway with a cell where there is a crack in the wall and if you watch, a ghost appears and then dissapears. There is also a door with a window that you peer into and there is a man looking down into a crystal ball. The best part though is a little shed that you open and there is a witch inside but when you close the door, the doorknob vibrates. On the entry to the Smugglers Dungeon, there is an infinity mirror and sailor man. When you get in, there is a loud noise as a man in the cell rattles the door saying " open the door!". Lots of noises happen as it shoots air at you when you walk through the tunnel and through the low walkway into the section where the pirates are drinking rum. There is a person hanging from the ceiling as you go out. The last but is a Dungeon maze where you walk through rubber bars, hallway of funny mirrors and a cycle muesum.

      @@youngamericanferret422thank you for this in depth summary! it was the hunchback of Notre dame I couldn't find any footage or images of- proper scared me as a child and now I can see it again without making the trek down south to get there

      The first I went, I was going down the stairs to the dungeon and I pressed the button on the Gulliver secne whilst I was really scared about the creepy bit at the end but when the light went out, I screamed because I felt like I had to keep on going through but luckily I found the door to take me outside. Also when I saw the sign that said All Things Spooky pointing towards the Hansel and Gretel secne, I almost was in tears. I love it down there now though 😂😂

    The dark ride scene on the snail ride used to be based at Watermouth Castle’s (now defunct) sister park, Once Upon A Time, but instead of teddy bears, it was The Smurfs! Exactly the same set up, but they’ve just replaced the figures with teddy bears!
    The smurf dark ride was on a similar train layout but as you rode on the outside section you would be greeted by characters from The Wind in the Willows!

    Fun fact about that scary crocodile animatronic at 16:58! It has an infamous reputation online for triggering ‘submechanophobia’ - the fear of submerged man-made objects and machinery. Another classic example is a similar, though much larger animatronic of a mythical creature called a Bunyip in Australia.

    So happy you visited here after I recommend to you after your Devon and Cornwall road trip last year. Water mouth had a tough 2 years as they weren't allowed to open in 2020.
    All the work on the gardens, Castle and rides are all done in house and all profits go on adding to the collection and towards new attractions.
    As people have said Captain Andy's was at Thorpe park but the boat ride figures were in the African Tiki Show at Windsor saferi park. The boat ride itself and props around the park were from a boat ride that was at Cricket St Thomas during the Mr blobby days.

    Ello! So this is my favourite place in the world, I can tell you one thing about those houses you wondered about as you walked past them on the enchanted walk. Those weren't always there, they went up some time in the 90s iirc - so I assume they're where the Haines' who own the castle live, now they're all grown and have their own families and so might have overrun the living space left in the castle itself. I don't know for sure, this is all guesswork, but those houses didn't use to be there, I remember that!

    I remember we went to Watermouth Castle a few years ago with Denbon after he was watching lots of videos of it and there was a video of the dungeon and the first bit with the fairytales were ok and the bit with the shops but there was a really creepy bit at the end. He waa talking to us about how excited he was to go and see Gulliver and the Gingerbread Man. We arrived and walked into the robot band room and everything looked really tiny and more dim in every room. It was almost like walking through a toy dolls house. It was loud in the robot room so we walked into the kitchen where there was a lady at the table cooking and there was nobody else in there. We were walking around talking about everything and it was all coming together from when we last went. We walked through a room with newspaper on the wall which i had seen on the video i watched. Then we were back in the great hall which was weird as i thought there was another room. I also remember from when i went the time before, there was a room with curtains that we walked through twice. Then we went in the railway room that i remember from the first time we came and i was trying to get past lots of people to have a look. We walked into the next room which i can remember and there was a man sat with his headohones on. He started to move when i walked in and there was nobody else in there as we were first in. We walked through the other rooms that i can remember walking through the first time but i could not find the room with the curtains. I thought that there was more rooms but i saw in the bext room a sign on the wall pointing down saying " Dungeons". Denbon was getting quite anxious when we saw that but he was trying to get downstairs. We walked downstairs and Denbon got excited as we could hear the music on Gulliver. We saw a door at the bottom of the stairs and Denbon started to panic about that really creepy bit at the end. We walked in and saw Gulliver but he looked way bigger than he did on the video. I asked Denbon who that was and shouted Gulliver and then was having a panic attack whilst trying to find the way out as i thought the last time we came, it was as soon as we came through the door. Then, the light went out on Gulliver and he screamed as he thought the light stayed on the whole time and i was saying how creepy it was but i pressed it again. He thought that when the light went out, you had to keep on going through and he didn't want to go through that really creepy bit at the end. We walked round the corner and saw a sign saying this way for all things spooky. He was almost in tears as we saw Hansel and Gretel and i pointed it out that the gingerbread man was over there but he was just having so much of a panic attack that he went straight out the door. He explained to me once he calmed down that he was scared of that really creepy bit at the end but when we came out the door, we saw people walking out the exit door already. We later tried to go back in again but it was all quiet in there and i saw the banner saying Hansel and Gretel in the door that was dark that the gingerbread man was in. I told him when he was freaking out again that we can just press the light on Gulliver but he ran back outside. It was the funniest thing ever.

    Wow, what a hidden gem. 💙 When you said it was a combination of a load of your interests - I was thinking the exact same thing! I could probably spend the whole day just pottering around the museum. I'd have to give myself a second day for the park. 😅 Blackgang Chine used to have its own little museum like the section seen at 8:10 (much bigger than the tiny landslide/whale exhibit they have now) and I was gutted when they closed the doors. 😞

    The museum reminds me of Bygones at Babbacombe. If memory serves, there was a very elaborate Victorian street and WW1 Trench recreations.

    We are going to visit there now after watching this, it looks one of the best parks of the kind I've ever seen. We are in Devon in August so it will be 100% on our things to do list. Thank you for introducing us to what looks a great day out.

    I remember going to watermouth castle when I was younger I remember going down to the dungeon area pretty creepy and also the haunted vault as I do remember seeing like a dark alley way or tunnel where there large skeleton Monster peeking from behind the corner then slowly went back behind the corner I remember really good back then with gnome land with the troll and the gnome pulling a mole or some creature as well I remember both the fountain show as well as the snake slide really good miss the good old days.?

      That dark alleyway with the monster was probably Qausmodo as it is in a cell and you press the button. When you press the button, it is ringing a bell with a creepy sound effect on it.
