- Momotaro and Genki are not in a very good relationship, but they are not in a bad relationship.
When something happens, Momotaro try to protect Genki.
The compatibility as a male and a female is very good.
They usually spend time away from each other, but sometimes they get closer to Genki from Momotaro, or from Genki to Momotaro.
And they are very handsome and beautiful, which is inherited by their sons.

⭐️モモタロウ Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
momotaro was born at Ueno zoo in Tokyo on jul.3,2000 and came to our zoo on Oct.18,2010.
He is beautiful and handsome ,the silverback of our troop.
He is a little timid,and scared of new things.
He sometimes shows lovely behaviors that melt our hearts.
He is making efforts to be a good dad for his two sons.
⭐️ゲンキ Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Genki was born at our zoo on Jun,24,1986.
After mating with several males without a pregnancy she found her perfect partner Momotaro.
Now she is a loving and caring mom for her two sons.
She sometimes behaves boldly,yet she can also be sensitive.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️ゲンタロウ Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at our zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
Everyone immediately agrees that he is a very adorable boy.
⭐️キンタロウ Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at our zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.
He love to play by himself,with his father.
He is still small, but smart and strong-willed.
His cute appearance and behavior attract everyone's interest.

Genki is more relaxed because Momo is so calm as he can get grumpy easily & she needs calm & kind. What a difference this makes to her :)

It's so nice to see Genki relaxing. She is so female and very expressive! Momo is so calm and patient with her, the two balance each other. Male Gorillas, no matter how young and handsome like older females. They make better mothers , thus the linage continues. Genki deserves contentment, she has paid her dues and has taught Momo how to be a good daddy. For example, just look at Shabani and Nene. I think old Nene is about 48 and still has it going on. Everything is as it should be.👌💕

I've often thought that Momo is wanting a 'younger, newer model' for his partner, but just reading above (from Margaret Tome's comment) the younger males (no matter how handsome) still prefer the older female mate because they make better mothers. Really enlightening.
To be fair to Momotaro, he would probably have been glad to help but Genki wouldn’t let him near the sons when they were babies and insisted on doing it all herself.

Does anyone remember how Momo and Genki did the same thing before they mated, and later had Kintaro? They would actually sit in the same room indoors and eat practically side by side. Could it be pretty soon they will mate, and have another baby? Hopefully, Genki's estruce is returning. It took her 6 years after Gentaro.
He was eyeing her for sure.
it better be soon because she is up there in age now and can't afford to go another decade before having another. The one thing with her having another this soon is the jealousy factor again but this time it will be kintaro and he is used to being the center of that troops universe.
@@stevec6965 One female gorilla from Higashiyama Zoo, gave birth to Kiyomasa, at 40 years old. I believe that Genki is like some human women who have a hard time conceiving, but she is still at an age to birth another baby. She was mated unsuccessfully with at least two other males, one of them was Momo's own father. It took her two years more, on top of what is normal for a gorilla after giving birth (they usually conceive 4 years later) to conceive Kintaro. Lately, Momotaro has been following Genki around, too. Kintaro will behave like Gentaro did when a new baby comes. 😆
