I’m not used to editing in a BKC vid. I legitimately thought CZcams glitched when the screen went black after the first rock slide. Great video though, I’ve been loving the consistent uploads lately.
A critical piece of art that many will struggle to understand. Truly it is a rock solid work that slides past the casual observer who may flinch at its seemingly egregious editing.
I feel like a lot of people didn't watch till the end before commenting. What a fantastic bit of bait bringing this game up analysing the two styles of teambuilding, discussing the intricate differences turn by turn setting up the ending of this game to be really hype, but the closer we got to the end you can't help thinking "how is this the best ADV game of all time?" "is BKC purposefully adding these little surreal sections to pass off recording blips?" and then it hits. BKC was luring everyone in to witness the horror that truly lies behind competitive pokemon. A masterclass in storytelling and one that my therapist will not be able to save me from.
>opponent is online >walk to bathroom >open medicine cabinet >can't find the pills >cover eyes and cry as space and time blend together >wake up >sitting in front of computer >the nagging voice returns >"What metrics do we use when... measuring what makes a battle good, or even great"
Now I'll have constant nightmares about Rock Sliding Salamances. I'll stop being a functional member of society, consumed by own anxiety and fear of dragons randomly throwing rocks at my current location. This is your fault, BKC. You've broken a man today.
i thought i didn't understand what was going on, but in a sudden moment of clarity, it all made sense. my jaw hit the floor. i rewatched it multiple times to make sure i was seeing what was happening. and honestly, having seen it multiple times, i *still* cannot believe it. this may not be the best battle of all time, but the greatest? i think it has to be.
Marcop is a stonger man than I. Were I in his place, I surely would have slowly and painfully distorted my body as that endgame played out, until I was some sort of weird mangled mess of limbs and regrets, like something out of a surprisingly well-put-together horror b-movie you found in a bargain bin three decades ago.
I gotta be honest marcop switched in pert to the first band rock slide and I thought the entertainment factor was going to be Sam flinching it down with slide😂
also, its not a representative impression of BKC because normally, he is famous for refusing to even his videos *at all* . He normally doesn't even edit out his bathroom breaks 😆 You gotta love this man.
WARNING (MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS) I’d just like to say, the cinematography here is truly masterful. The demonic paradigm shift edits hinting that something truly heinous is about to unfold. Then, the slow realisation as every rock slide flinches that this is exactly what was foreshadowed, with the subtle hint to “crazy hax” in the intro and the suspicious edit on the first rock slide - only to be sucker punched by the cut to 0PP, the point at which the fate of the battle is sealed in the mind. And that final moment of realisation when you realise that Zapdos’s Pressure, what was supposedly a blessing, ended up as the nail in the coffin. A true classic that I will recommend to the entire extended family
Learning about this originally from blunders channel was a life-changing experience. It might legitimately be the absolute funniest shit I've ever seen in competitive Pokémon, maybe second only to the Unfortunate Manifesto
this game rewards blind luck and nothing else, I am beyond convinced at this point. After getting completely tooled by scheduling with my opponent changing times on me last minute and refusing to provide confirmation prior to the day of the match as to play times, losing this way somehow felt even worse than I had thought possible. My preparation was superior, my play was superior, and I lost, so I don't see a reason to continue engaging in an activity where what is within my control is overwhelmingly outweighed by what is not. I am done with competitive Pokemon, and you won't get a fond farewell. This community is infected to its roots with a degenerative disease that grows stronger over time but stops short of killing its host. Tournaments used to have a competitive spirit at their heart, this has been transplanted and replaced with an artificial organ that feeds on vitriol and mockery from insecure little boys that heckle by the sidelines and tear each other to shreds over scraps of attention. The environment we fostered has trapped us all like this in a vicious cycle, and escaping it requires acceptance of the harshest reality we all scramble to explain away, that none of the countless straining efforts we put ourselves through here will ever amount to one single shining glimmer of significance. I would make this the end, but World Cup is still ongoing, and I would never leave so many great friends out to dry, so I'll suffer through a few more games for them. One last thing before I leave you all to react with disdain, ridicule, and self-righteous fervor, before you do everything in your power to minimize my words and thoughts, box them up and shove them to some cobwebbed corner of your memory, and hope they disappear forever as a stain on your finite time ground to dust. From this moment on, nothing you say matters to me. The foulest insults you hurl with intent to wound will calmly settle at the earth before my feet, and the venom you spit will bring all the pain of a warm summer breeze. You are less than anything you can conceive, while I carry on, brimming with joy distilled from detachment.
At around 10:30, my phone died. I just stared at it for a bit, and didnt realize it was dead until the 3rd time i tapped the screen. Damn you BKC. I just got haxxed irl
I can't finish the video, im 16 minutes in and where i live its late and im a huge wuss. Im gonna be watching this tomorrow morning Edit: really nice ending and foreshadowing, truly the stuff of nightmares. Really enjoying your new content
As soon as there was a surreal edit on the first Swampert switch in to Rock Slide, I knew that the match was going to end up with Salamence flinching it to death (though I didn't expect the clutch Crit Struggle for finish) Always insane when it happens, but I have seen worse, like the infamous Scarf Kyurem Black lead that clicks Iron Head and 6-0 the entire team by believing it's a Jirachi
Agreed. History and context for players.. Back story. Mistakes misclick. Crazy crit rolls. Fail to read the other player. And trolling. Hype. All makes my definition of a legendary battle or bland one. It's amazing the things that's happened in VGC lol
What is it that we seek when we watch a fight? A Pokémon battle? A boxing match? A Street Fighter tournament? Stories. The eternal stories. Forget them at your peril.
kev... i don't feel so good about this video... maybe we should leave this rock slide thing and just go to bed, don't you think? else i think i might struggle to sleep tonight
broo asoon as i clicked the vid and saw the two players I already knew what this vid was gonna be about and started dying LOOOL. This battle is a monument in showdown history
A greater player than I would have started going "no... no... no..." much earlier than I did. Also this reminded me that they should have kept psychic as trippy as it was in gen 2, lawsuits be damned.
Spoilers ahead (sort of): The only thing that's more horrifying than this video is the fact that it's more likely to get struck by lightning than this happening in a game (thanks z0mog)
I was actually getting annoyed with how slowly this video was going, but all of the glitchy editing had me thinking that there was some fuckery afoot. Got to the end and was not disappointed. Lol
ngl first time an edit c ame i checked my phone to see if yt lagged or something cuz i did NOT expect a random jumpscare cut in a BKC video of all places
some great lead matchups due to the very nature of dugtrio but loses hard to suicune, is used as spikes fodder by skarmory and doesn't really bother ungrounded mons. It even loses 1v1 against most healthy ice beam Blissey (although Blissey is not a common lead). Generally, it doesn't actually fare that well against many pokemon that are at full health because it is very frail and also not *that* strong. The main problem is, however, that dugtrio is a pokemon whose existence you normally want to hide for as long as possible because as soon as your opponent knows about your dugtrio, they will have an easier time to play around it. At the same time, however, this could allow for some interesting mindgames. I can see potential but it is probably very hard to make work. Also, offensive Choice Band might not be the best choice for that set as you will likely have to take hits in order to actually kill stuff.
I'd been having computer trouble just before watching this, and when the black screen came up in the middle I honestly thought my machine had bricked. Damn near gave me a heart attack. Well played, sir.
Was it not possible to go to Swampert and PP stall the remaining Rock Slide to then claim the KO with Zapdos? Either way truly horrorifying events which unfolded.
ADV OU is a lot of fun, there's still a lot of offense but it's more building offensive teams of mons with some defensive utility and there's a lot of nuance to the tier in general along with a large number of pokemon with interesting small niches. There are also about 1.75 good dragon types in it edit: eh 1.95 with Kingdra
It sure is gonna feel different with no phys/special split, no stealth rock, it has a very different flavor than even gen 4 as a result. It's still pretty diverse though. Oh and get used to the sand.
Spoiler warning. Im forever traumatized, i feel like a part off my soul died watching this, together with that poor swampert... Both now being forever tortured in the depths off hell, being crushed by boulders, incapable off ever moving again...
Genres: Psychological Horror, Surrealism
I appreciate the way you look at VGC. I really do. Hey BKC. keep and eye out for scarlet and violet. This year's competition is gonna be wild
LMAO
Humiliation, mind break
Agreed
I'm not kidding: my computer crashed while watching this video.

it will be a struggle for casual viewers to understand. I wouldn't be surprised if the video is a box office failure but a critical hit

You live by the rock slide flinch; You die by the rock slide flinch. That is the ADV struggle.
The ADV crit struggle

I don't know if bkc viewers are functional members of society in the first place, but that's probably just projection
or in other words, this video made you "flinch"
I loved the part where metagross said it's grossin time and outmetad all the Pokémon
I loved the part where salamence said it's rock slidin time and the screen went black
nutted, er exploded, all over the enemy team
Seeing this joke on a bkc video is probably the worst thing I've ever experienced
congrats on using an overused, unrelated joke
Dude, i was like "there is no way this battle is as legendary as THAT battle..." and then, i realized... that this IS that battle
and then, Swampert flinched...
Didn't think I'd ever see another video about this pop up again
Absolutely love the editing here
i thought i didn't understand what was going on, but in a sudden moment of clarity, it all made sense. my jaw hit the floor. i rewatched it multiple times to make sure i was seeing what was happening. and honestly, having seen it multiple times, i *still* cannot believe it. this may not be the best battle of all time, but the greatest? i think it has to be.
I would guess this is the first Pokemon replay analysis that qualifies as found footage
Truly a masterpiece. I see why you don't edit videos now. You'd be too consumed making cinematic masterpieces to cover all the topics you want
That struggle winning the game was the LAST thing I expected. I thought the horror came from the continued futile rock sliding against swampert.
well, most of it came.
But it was more than just the flinches ....
I'm shaken to the core. Salamence's disembodied head writhing in a furious desperation may never leave my dreams
Marcop is a stonger man than I. Ah yes, Uzumaki but as a B-Movie
damn, i remember marcop sending me this replay and laughing my ass off. never thought it would come back to haunt me
The biggest plot twist of this video was BKC actually editing.
I gotta be honest marcop switched in pert to the first band rock slide and I thought the entertainment factor was going to be Sam flinching it down with slide😂
This is peak writing. Plot, characters, ending and even foreshadowing at 9:38
This is the first video I’ve watched from you. I thought it was just shotty video editing, but holy shit this was a trip

LOOOOOOOL BKC is OFF my list of channels I can watch high. Brilliant video
BKC actually stands for Best Kontent Creator
How to get around the word:
I legitimately tought my phone shut down for a second, definitely got me with those edits xD
Normally I like to watch your videos before falling asleep because it somehow relaxes me. Man this came out of left field lol

This was a great video 10/10 worth the wait even though i don't know anything about tornaments
