Yes, Odessa is beautiful. However, it does not really come to life in this video. We just observe the city from a spectators point of view. I miss encounters, the voice of its people, snippets of their experiences, reactions, thoughts and opinions...After all, looking at streets and buildings and observing and keeping people at a distance, the camera treats them like objects, without revealing their subjectivity, humanity - we miss what infuses a city with life: its people and the atmosphere they create through communication with us and among themselves. A house is not a home without the people living in it, a home is created through face to face interaction - the same goes for cities no matter how aesthetically beautiful it is filmed. Here I miss the urban life....emphasis of course on life, the decor within which it unfolds presents itself as as just that: a beautiful façade. It's a pity. Odessa consists of its people and their memories, we only get to see the materialized product of their interactions. This video could have been so much more if the buzz of its life had not been amputated by this purely aesthetic approach...

Одесса красивейший город в мире,я прожил там 20 прекрастных лет,этот город остался в моем сердце на всю осавшуюся жизнь...Но грустно наблюдать,что к сожалению за 24 года,что я уехал из Одессы транспорт такой как трамваи,тролейбусы и автобусы не изменились,позор для руководства страны и любимиго города...
В 2023 году уже новый транспорт и очень красивый и трамваи и троллейбусы ,в том числе для людей с инвалидностью.Только теперь на Одессу летят русские ракеты…
Жаль нет кадров вечерней и ночной Одессы, а так же не хватает видео с квадрокоптера. Но мне все равно понравилось.

went there 1st time in 99 the city was so poor, I was buying in Kiev but I knew in 2005 when I was last there this was a place to invest, like Prague it was there like a pearl sitting in the open in the soft sand ready to be grabbed, Any way Odessa was a major destination on the old Orient Express & was a vacation & film spot by many Hollywood, & London Paris Film Politicians, jet setters, Charlie Chaplin Churchill John Barrymore, Greta Garbo late 1910 early 1920's fascinating too is that it has architecture that is from all over & mixed up French, baroque, Italian, Flemish, 1 street I stayed it was quite confusing for the brain but represented all the folks that came there in the late 1800's- 1920's

Odessa is so beautiful and historically also very important town. Founded by the ancient greeks 2000 years ago, it was also the place where "filiki eteria" started to plan the revolt against muslim ottoman empire and finally the greek liberation from turkish occupation. Thank you Odessa / Odessos.
