Second, the interception Purdy threw was not a bad decision; the receiver was open, the pass rusher hit him on the hand as he released it and tipped the pass. That interception is on the offensive line.

The DB 100% interfered and slowed BA down, which is why the ball seemed to be 'overthrown', but the refs quietly picked up the flag after it was determined BA made a good catch. So either way, that should have been a 51-yard play.

The Lions went from being one of the most perennially hapless teams in the league to missing a Super Bowl appearance by 3 points. If the Chiefs go up 1 or 2 scores in the first half, but don't score in the second half again I don't see them winning the game. Hey Nick, that bounced pass was due to defensive pass interference when Aiyuk got pushed on the chest to slow him down. That is why there was a freaking flag on the play. The flag got picked up by the ref since he ended up catching the pass.

First off the 49ers weakness is OLine. Purdy was constantly under pressure or having to move around/scramble. 2nd his pick was shown the defender literally hit the ball as he released it. 3rd the bounce off helmet play was also PI. Defender pushed off and slowed Ayiuk, so we can’t really say it was bad or overthrown because Ayiuk might have been in position to catch it if not for push off. Either way huge play and swing.

The contact was incidental, thats why the flag got picked up. Contact was a result of the defender making a play on the ball. Brock admits in the post game interview that he threw it bc he thought they needed a big play and he saw aiyuk 1 on 1. It wasn't really an overthrow, it was a calculated risk. It was a well placed ball, the defender was in the right spot and used his body well, but in the end aiyuk made an amazing catch.
Some players shrink in the moment and others shine. Purdy isn’t the great talent that other guys in the league are but he doesn’t shrink in the moments that matter. Niners defense said it best after the game. They don’t win the last two games without Purdy stepping up when it mattered most.

Yes, he was looking for the ball, but that contact is intentional, not incidental. In fact, if his hands hadn't been so busy pushing off of Aiyuk, he probably could have gotten them up to catch that ball he was supposedly playing in time.
Both the pick and the Aiyuk pass were just great defensive plays. The pick was tipped in an excellent play by the d-lineman. The "overthrow" is a tough one. The lions defender absolutely bumped Aiyuk enough to throw him off the route and earn a flag. The announcers said the flag was picked up because he was able to "make a play." So whether he picks it or not, it was a great play by the defender, not a mistake by purdy.
The best part of this will be Monday morning FTF after Brock defeats Maholmes in the SB. They're going to need to do welfare check on Nick Wright if that happens.
I don't understand how no one, no matter what show it is, has realized that the play that bounced off the CB's helmet was still a Defensive Pass Interference. Purdy really showed something this last game. he has a solid arm, and plays smart albeit somewhat slow (often kills his receivers). but thats perfect for the 49ers. they dont need a QB who tries to be a hero, they need someone who patiently waits for the skilled players to get separation.

That bomb to Aiyuk looked over thrown only because the DB got into Aiyuk's path obstructing him, and slowed him down. Hence, the yellow flag was thrown for defensive pass interference. Yet, Aiyuk still caught it bouncing off the DB's helmet which nullifies the DPI.
The so called lucky pass Purdy threw was a choice he made based upon the following: 1. Aiyuk would likely win a jump ball with a single db. 2. If the db got the pick the play would amount to a punt. The catch was not lucky. A tremendously athletic play by an All Pro receiver.

I think it's entirely possible that Purdy goes on to have a more succesful career than Burrow based on the fact that Burrow has now had two season ending injuries already in his career? doesn't matter how gifted a guy can be if he's on the sideline in a track suit. I just hope people keep in the back of their minds all that Dan Campbell has accomplished, and how quickly he's done it. The Lions went from being one of the most perennially hapless teams in the league to missing a Super Bowl appearance by 3 points. He's an incredible coach and similarly to how all players make mistakes, coaching mistakes are also inevitable. I'm excited to see how the Lions do next year and that hasn't been true for more than 3 decades.

If the Chiefs go up 1 or 2 scores in the first half, but don't score in the second half again I don't see them winning the game. Hey Nick, that bounced pass was due to defensive pass interference when Aiyuk got pushed on the chest to slow him down. That is why there was a freaking flag on the play. The flag got picked up by the ref since he ended up catching the pass.

First off the 49ers weakness is OLine. Purdy was constantly under pressure or having to move around/scramble.
2nd his pick was shown the defender literally hit the ball as he released it. 3rd the bounce off helmet play was also PI. Defender pushed off and slowed Ayiuk, so we can’t really say it was bad or overthrown because Ayiuk might have been in position to catch it if not for push off. Either way huge play and swing.

The contact was incidental, thats why the flag got picked up. Contact was a result of the defender making a play on the ball. Brock admits in the post game interview that he threw it bc he thought they needed a big play and he saw aiyuk 1 on 1. It wasn't really an overthrow, it was a calculated risk. It was a well placed ball, the defender was in the right spot and used his body well, but in the end aiyuk made an amazing catch.
Some players shrink in the moment and others shine. Purdy isn’t the great talent that other guys in the league are but he doesn’t shrink in the moments that matter. Niners defense said it best after the game. They don’t win the last two games without Purdy stepping up when it mattered most.
Yes, the interception wasn't great, but Brock Purdy was not the reason the 49ers were down 24-7 at the half. The Defense just could not stop the Lions. Whether the 49ers win or lose the Superbowl, Steve Wilkes' seat is on fire right now. When you have that much firepower on the Niners' defense (yes, including the shaky secondary), the only person who can fail is the DC.

HOWEVER, the ball was thrown ahead of both the DB and the receiver. There is no way that the DB needs to slow down and interfere with the receiver in order to play the ball in those circumstances. @@DangleSan Ok, I watched the play again, it's true that Aiyuk ran into the DB - because the DB had his hands out to push off of him. Yes, he was looking for the ball, but that contact is intentional, not incidental.
In fact, if his hands hadn't been so busy pushing off of Aiyuk, he probably could have gotten them up to catch that ball he was supposedly playing in time.
Both the pick and the Aiyuk pass were just great defensive plays. The pick was tipped in an excellent play by the d-lineman. The "overthrow" is a tough one. The lions defender absolutely bumped Aiyuk enough to throw him off the route and earn a flag. The announcers said the flag was picked up because he was able to "make a play." So whether he picks it or not, it was a great play by the defender, not a mistake by purdy.
It also would have been pass interference if Aiyuk didn't catch it.
Even if Aiyuk doesn't catch that, it was still dpi.

He had the pick because he was making up for the defense getting ran over. They gave up an opening TD after just 4 plays and another quick drive for a TD before his pick. It was clear at that point the defense was having problems brock was not the problem in this game.

Look at the whole route. Notice the thrown flag? The defender cut Ayuk off and altered his path shortly before the ball arrived, that's why he was in a better position to catch it.

I also think Campbell saw the flow of the game at that point, knew his defense wasn't stopping the 49ers anymore, and I feel he knew he needed to get to a number, such as 38, to have a shot at winning.
Purdy really showed something this last game. he has a solid arm, and plays smart albeit somewhat slow (often kills his receivers). but thats perfect for the 49ers. they dont need a QB who tries to be a hero, they need someone who patiently waits for the skilled players to get separation.

That bomb to Aiyuk looked over thrown only because the DB got into Aiyuk's path obstructing him, and slowed him down. Hence, the yellow flag was thrown for defensive pass interference. Yet, Aiyuk still caught it bouncing off the DB's helmet which nullifies the DPI.
The so called lucky pass Purdy threw was a choice he made based upon the following:
1. Aiyuk would likely win a jump ball with a single db.
2. If the db got the pick the play would amount to a punt.
The catch was not lucky. A tremendously athletic play by an All Pro receiver.

The pass to Aiyuk wasn't an overthrow. It was perfectly thrown to hit Brandon in stride running at full speed. The DB impeded his progress (hence the initial flag). Both players bounced off each other just before the ball arrived. It hit the DB in the chest but his arms were out of position due to the unavoidable collision. Of course you have the right to beat the WR to the spot but don't expect to be in perfect pass-catching position without contact from being directly in the WR's path.

If the DB did come up with the ball, it would have been negated by the PI call, and the Niners would have had the ball in the red zone anyway.
The only thing that I dont like about this show is that we cant see the highlight videos they are talking about
