    In a way, Moder is the only mandatory boss. As far as I know, there’s absolutely no other way to get linen thread or blackmetal ingots without the spinning wheel and blast furnace, both of which require the artisan table.

      You just need to get the trolls to break enough to get 20 copper and 10 tin then you can make a bronze pick. Obv though, killing eik is easier jaja. And the antler pickaxe is genuinely useful because it is reapirable with a workbench@@OneEyedGatekeeper

    My favorite sequence break is making a set of Fenris armor before defeating The Elder. It’s pretty challenging to gather fenris hair from the frost caves with bronze-tier gear, but it’s definitely possible. I always craft the shirt first, to get the cold resistance buff. I love being able to be out at night and not have the cold debuff, as well as being able to explore mountain areas without feeling like I’m “wasting” frost resistance meads.

    • @JPValheim
      @JPValheim  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That sounds cool! I've had a blast making videos in troll gear trying to do crap in the mistlands, so I can imagine it can be quite fun.
      I'm super biased though. I love light armor !

    • @Koko92553
      @Koko92553 Před 5 měsíci

      The fenris set is my favorite armor in the game and it's viable all the way to Mistland. The mobility makes the game more enjoyable especially if you pair it with a knife.

    • @JPValheim

      Right 😂, better put a bed at the entrance to that infested mine...

    • @user-yw9on4lc4v
      @user-yw9on4lc4v Před 4 měsíci +1

      Actually I died zero times inside mines. All you need is to bring some ooze bombs, iron sledge and lv3 iron atgeir. I can kill non-starred seekers one by one consistently with atgeir since it stuns them always. For the rest (stronger) enemies inside you need to lead them to entrance or use another way to break their pathing and just smash them bit by bit with sledge.
      Also, very important to wear root harnesk and have bonemass, root harnesk halves the damage dealt by seekers and if you want to descend lower or just want to be more aggressive (you actually can) use bonemass and parry soldier's and starred seekers attacks.

  • @GoldenThunderbolt
    @GoldenThunderbolt Před 6 měsíci +6

    Wow, I gotta try this! Having that blade and crossbow so early should make things different and fun. I love that blade.

    • @JPValheim
      @JPValheim  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Its certainly a different experience! Getting an infested mine setup though, that is super challenging and sorta RNG based if you find the cores or not. If you are going to try that part I encourage you to setup a bed in the entrance to an infested mine; its the kind of thing you should expect to die a lot figuring out!

  • @Ghostyfreaks
    @Ghostyfreaks Před 12 dny +1

    Regarding the iron age, if you want to complete that without glitches then you can also hire a seeker soldier to break anciet armor and swords, filled 3 ships that way in my no boss kill play through, just takes alot of patience, good dodging skills and a high tolerance against mist.

    • @JPValheim
      @JPValheim  Před 12 dny

      Thats a good idea! Ive been palying on a geared character these days but I enjoy getting iron/copper from the mistlands like youve described, its fun to mine stuff there and youll innevitibly aggro a seeker soldier from mining and then he helps mine !

    Black Marble- You dont need the 2 iron- Stagbreaker damages bridges etc just fine. Just pound away at the base of the bridge pillars and once you've broken them the whole thing will slowly collapse, giving you both a sizeable chunk of black marble AND a bunch of iron ingots.

    I'm a few months late, but here's a few additions/corrections anyway.
    1) You can get Silver without killing Bonemass. Sometimes a silver vein will be sticking out of the ground on its own. But that's rare, so a way better solution is to "prospect" for Silver with the Stagbreaker.
    2) When you mentioned crafting Carapace Spear at 7:30 you said it's available as soon as you have Iron, but it doesn't actually require any Iron. It is technically available from the beginning of the game, provided you can somehow get to Mistlands.
    3) Another sequence break I like to do is getting Fine Wood before Bronze Axe. You can "chop" birch trees in the Meadows with Beech tree trunks by rolling them into each other repeatedly.

      @JPValheim  Před 7 měsíci +1

    • @deathbreach3448
      @deathbreach3448 Před 7 měsíci

      I tend to play vanilla(no-mods) with boosted world modifiers to make accumulating resources much easier.
      I’ll start with a biome I want to build in for a town or city in and work a little on it, build a road to a different biome generally next to the ocean for export access.
      I allow all items to pass through portals because naturally it’s the way it should be lol.
      Makes transportation of resources way faster.
      The whole idea that I set for myself is to give each biome a town with a story behind it, a world wide civilization that vanished in the blink of an eye, now left to one person to continue on the development of humanity.
      Building a road through the mistlands makes ideal locations for scary paths and ruins of old civilizations destroyed by the creatures of the mist. “No one goes into the mist for they may never return” kinda vibe.
      Roads add a sense advantage just running down them to me.
