This purple tuber is very tasty if we cook it with shrimp for soup, to cook as desert with coconut milk and cane sugars, to do cake, etc… they are all yummy! I’m very happy for Zon. He sold generously all the Forest potatoes and bananas! 👏
Yes those yams are extremely good and a healthy diet. Remove the skin and boil them adding some salt too and eat it with fish curry or green chili and onion crushed and mixed with a little oil and try it. Lo they are fantastic combinations

The wild yam, love it. We fry it with side dish of lemon marinade chili paste, fresh tomato, onion including fried or braised fish. If I boil it, I will be tempted to make yam fufu with thick palm grain sauce and smoke fish or smoked meat. It is amazing how the landscape and earth are so similar across the world despite distances. This is so South America tropical regions, West Africa coast and its central tropical lands. The inside may be a bit slippery or slimy but full of starch. Needs only steaming to cook and can be eaten with spices of choice. In SOUTH India it is called KAACHIL OR KAVATH.
In our country, Samoa, this root crop (yam) takes time to harvest but when it does, it is huge. Our family will be fed from a single crop for weeks and weeks. My uncle always does the digging and never digs up all its roots. He just digs out what we need for a few days and go back to dig some more for another few days until the whole crop is used up. Then move on to the next crop. Best to cook with coconut milk and a lil salt and enjoyed on its own or with fish
