    I am so glad Cameron started “gabbing”. I LOVE being a mom, but I feel like society has lost an attitude that is helpful to moms and babies. Since being a mom I’ve never felt so dang lonely and unsupported even by friends at church! It’s so frustrating. I needed this today.

    When it comes to chemistry, I actually think it's something that can be intentionally grown and nursed. It's not always something that just comes naturally or easily. And there may be seasons in marriage where you have more or less chemistry and that's why it's so important to be intentional and not just rely on your natural and instinctual chemistry in a marriage. That's how a marriage fails.

    I think what Cameron just described about christian podcasts and being a bad wife for not sweeping the floor content is why I am hesitant to listen to any female christian content creators, including Among the Lillies. The reason homeschooling works so well regardless of the educational method usec is because the actual work of learning is done within the child. The parent is respource provider, guide, and makes space for the time for the student to learn. We place far too much emphasis on the teacher failing and needing a "good" teacher when that is also a losing scenario. My children's teachers are Emily Dickenson, Shakespeare, and C.S. Lewis...let the greats be your children's teachers and continue to point them to the three transcendentals.
    Great show! As a homeschooler I so wish I could join in on these conversations haha!

    • @Prohortico
      @Prohortico Před 8 měsíci

      @@jayl.j.c.7506 It was very well communicated - We’re into our 3rd full year of Homeschooling and our oldest is in Grade 7 (youngest will be born in January), we have a great facilitator and homeschool association where we live (in Alberta Canada), but I don’t recall hearing exactly how one’s education occurs ‘within the child’ put so clearly before. We were told when we started that it would take at least 2 full years before the education model/paradigm of the mainstream school system would be completely cleared from our mentality.
      We are actually very thankful for how the pandemic shut everything down and forced us into homeschooling for awhile… we always wanted to homeschool, but didn’t have the confidence to actually do it. Our family was unchained from the system - and we’re lucky that our oldest only ever had to experience up to grade 4 in regular school (4 years too many), but now we can move forward with complete confidence for our youngest 2 kids who will have the opportunity to be homeschooled their entire lives!
      The scales have been fully cleared from our eyes now, but there are still many moments of impatience and minor struggles with ‘being good teachers’ - so seeing little reminders like this once in awhile truly does encourage and help us. It’s like another scale removed from my mind that I never even knew I had!

    • @suew4609

      Yes! It’s not the teacher, it’s the curriculum. If they would go back to the classics, and maybe some self-guided solo learning, I think our public schools might even produce some educated people. Second thought, they can’t do what a homeschool mom can do, and neither do they care like a mother would, nor would they put the love and fear of God into them. No, the teacher would still be spending her/his time trying to get order in the classroom, so that a bit of learning might happen between recess and D.E.I. indoctrination. Homeschooling is the best!

    If you accept a Christian view of Marriage, and roles therein, going to the knee, understood in the Christian sense, by the man who would be head of the household, is the sign that he desires to offer his life in service to the weaker, the woman, who would be the person in service to him. Normally a man would go on their knee in fealty to a man who they view to be head and leader, stronger than them and whom they are willing to die for. When you see this, a man going to his knee is such a great sign of this beautiful paradox of Christian Marriage. The woman accepting is not only accepting this fealty but also the life of service to this man.

      I pulled 3 of my kids out of public school in 1996, and started homeschooling when I had just delivered my 6th child. Go for it! It’s the best thing you will ever do for your kids. You have plenty of time to decide what to use and how to do it, then life will happen and you’ll just do what you can. Stick to the 4 R’s, Reading wRiting, aRithmetic, and Religion in the early years, then tack on whatever you have time for. Trust that God will give you the grace that you need, as the church tells us, “Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children.” (CCC2223) I was sick for most of the 22 years I h
      omeschooled, it was difficult, but somehow we did it. God supplied what I couldn’t. As Dr. William Marra (may he rest in peace) once said at a homeschooling conference, (and Matt just stole😂), “If you just keep your kids home and play cards with them, your kids will be better off than they would be if they went to public school.” Now I think Matt’s idea of reading good books is better than just playing cards, but the point is the same. I wonder if Matt knows Dr. Marra said that?
      If I can answer any questions for you, I be glad to help.

    Well, this has been really good for me.
    I had preconceived notions about this couple. In my mind they weren’t great.
    And they’re not my personality!
    However, their values and their thoughts and their hearts are all in the right place.
    I was impressed I must admit. Matt Fradd has always bothered me because he was addicted and he was a heavy drinker.
    He seems to still have that manner about him.
    But I think from this particular video, he really doesn’t.
    My family was destroyed by alcohol, and I find it very offensive that he calls his channel PINTS with Aquinas.
    The thought of pints just remind me of the booze and the disgusting behavior, and it turns me off.
    And then Cameron is very outspoken and not soft. But interestingly, she knows it.
    She has a great attitude, even though she’s not seemingly as organized as some people might think she should be with her homeschooling.
    And Matt came across on this as more humble, whereas on his channel, he comes across too prideful and arrogant for me.
    I could tell he was more self-conscious, and she was not at all!
    God led me to watch this, so thank you Lila!
    I was not going to watch this because of my negative opinion but then I decided I would try.
    It just goes to show that I should not follow through on my misconceptions which seemed real.
    So thank you. I actually learned to be more charitable and generous because I watched this.
    Thanks Lila really thank you very much.
    BTW I really thought that Cameron’s dress was really cute too.
    This video was really a learning experience for me.
    Do not judge do not judge, do not judge by appearances!
    I like that your show is diverse now, and it shows we’re all people and if we’re on your show,

      I don’t see Matt as a boozer or alcoholic. Jesus drank wine, and were allowed to drink as Catholics, just not get drunk. I think the title of his podcast just creates a kind of casual feeling, maybe a feeling of men getting together to share a pint with friends and share their lives. But, since they are sharing the pint with Aquinas, it has an intellectual feel, or just a feeling that they are going to talk about something more serious than just chit chat. I don’t know if that is exactly what Matt means by his title, but, as they say, you should never judge a book by its cover! I’m glad you came around🙏🏻

      I’m in cali, and they only require that you register your home as a school each year. There is no cost involved. Beyond that, they require you keep a record of attendance and copies of your child’s work. But beyond that, it’s up to you what you do.

      I’m in CA, too, and had no trouble. For the most part we were registered with Kolbe Academy, so that was no problem. The last 2 years I filed an affidavit as a public school, and had no problems, either. If you join HSLDA, Home School Legal Defense Association, they will back you legally if the state causes you any trouble. That alone is worth the cost of membership, which is currently $135.00 or $14/mo. You can find them online, and they have a list of the rules for every state, regarding homeschooling. I noticed there are a few states that have gotten a bit more restrictive, but if you don’t like the rules, like having to teach what they want you to teach, them you can most likely bypass them by joining a correspondence homeschool, like Kolbe or Seton Homeschool. There are many of them these days.

Sadly, they aren’t doing a very good job at church these days. It will probably vary by state and diocese, but do check out the books they’re using and what they teach. jmho

    Through what network did they do Catholic Missionary Work?

    • @Prohortico
      @Prohortico Před 8 měsíci +3

      They started with NET Ministries of Canada - aka - National Evangelization Teams - NET is a Catholic ministry that has two different types of teams. There are traveling teams that literally travel across Canada and conduct retreats in Schools and Churches, and there are Parish based teams that stay in one parish for a full year as the work to kickstart a parish based youth ministry in the communities they are stationed. NET was started in the USA, and both NET Canada and NET Australia were started out of that, and then NET Canada helped bring NET ministries to Ireland (Which Matt and Cameron were a part of).
      I was fortunate to be able to be a member of a traveling team in 2005-2006, it was an extremely intensive and rewarding year. Training was about 6 weeks during August/September in Ottawa Canada, and the ministry year occurs over a 10 month period from September-June. Our team travelled approximately 40,000Kms, conducted around 120 retreats for approximately 20,000 people, and we stayed in about 80-100 different host homes (families homes, church halls, rectories, convents, monasteries, and schools).
      *I’m not a Matt and Cameron stalker (if they happen to be reading this comment;) 😂 I just served as a ‘NETTER’ a few years after them and a lot of people I was on NET with know them very well as well as the Catholic communities I’m associated with in Canada… it’s a small Catholic world once one commits themselves to truly loving and serving Jesus in the Catholic Church in a country like Canada!

      @@LuciaDanielaS oh - well that definitely changes things for you quite a lot.
      Personally, I think I would try to focus on raising my child above all, and work to build community within your local community first.
      Perhaps there are some missionary orders that do mission work with the poor etc. expose your child to monastic communities etc as they grow up in the faith, perhaps the religious orders have broader networks that can both help you live your faith while reaching out to others, but right now, your primary ‘mission field’ is your own family.

    Genuine question about homeschooling-how can you homeschool subjects like chemistry or physics? In my opinion, those are advanced topics that need a proper teacher. And how can the kids pass exams later? Aren’t they intellectually weaker than the kids who had the school education?

    • @Jerome616
      @Jerome616 Před 8 měsíci +1

    • @JenniferoftheSea
      @JenniferoftheSea Před 8 měsíci +1

      Homeschooled children statistically far outperform/out test public schooled children. Home educated children also receive schooling from live online classes and co-ops where they may be taught from other teachers for subjects that involve labs or classes that require other people like speech or drama. Basically, you are free as the parent to pick the best of any schooling platform that meets the needs of their child. You are not stuck at home at the kitchen table neither does the parent teach all or even most of the subjects. Let me know if you have specific questions. 😊

      First off let's not pretend public school kids have a good grasp on physics and chemistry 😂 I'm pretty I had a better grasp on chemistry than one of my public school teachers. Second, homeschool parents have a responsibility to delegate subjects that they don't understand to tutors, science programs like at a local museum and online programs like khan academy.

      Yes and no. Many of the Homeschoolers I know are dirt poor, and have everything they NEED. They just choose to live VERY differently than the average American THINKS they must live. Ie. Like 1 cell phone between spouses, they drive VERY old cars, they don't travel for vacations, kids share bedrooms, they thrift, etc. They also have some of the happiest, smartest, most creative and resilient children I know. All that to say, I think people might be surprised by how little some people live on in order to homeschool and often, have a large family. It also isn't for everyone and is not something everyone can or should do.

We have the rationality, therefore we should use our rationality. Most things that is said in this channel about the dynamics between men and women are not rational. You ignore how the world works, and you ignore the human nature as well.
      Let me give you an example of how sinnerfull is the way you think:
      Lila Rose celebrated the fact that Logan Paul got engaged to Nina Agdal. She said "congratulations". But Nina Agdal apparently has a highly promiscuous past, which indicates that Logan Paul is doing a terrible choice to his life. I would never celebrate someone's else bad choices. That's why I consider your ideology and religion so harmfull.
