Jimmy doesn't get enough recognition for being one of the greatest and original bassists on the planet! His infectious grooves and tasty solos are undeniable and the Yellowjackets will never be the same without him. It's very hard for me to listen the the Yellowjackets without Jimmy.

@@jukesjointOG I agree! Their debut record is one of the best debuts I've ever heard! The late great Ricky Lawson was a monster drummer and Robben Ford killed on guitar! And no, I'm not the great jazz drummer! No relation...that I know of anyway.

Jimmy doesn't remember this but I saw him with Yellowjackets in 1990 in Tokyo Blue Note. I was friends with the hostess that got me free tickets. After their show, Jimmy and William K. came and sat at my table and talked to me and another guy for at least 2 hours! Such gracious, humble, and down-to-earth guys! It was a night I'll never forget.

Haslip's lefty has strings are in reversed gauge/pitch order..........I imagine he first played a right handed bass as a lefty without the ability to change the strings to a left handed in seating them properly for the corrected gauge/order of pitch and as a result just kept it that way throughout his career?..........

For those who decide to learn how to play an instrument that requires the use of both hands: there are no pianos for left-handed people therefore there is no need for building guitars for the left-handed nor "flipping" regular guitars to the "left" side because you still are going to have to use BOTH hands to play it.

I still say that left handed guitars or basses are ridiculous!
Neither hand is more important than the other for guitars.
    I’ve heard some idiotic
and uniformed so called left handed players say that the picking/ strumming hand is more important, but that’s BS.
My point was just made by the guitar player talking about the Trumpet. Although the trumpet does use 1 hand for fingering only. It’s questionable though. Is the trumpet better for a lefty, because the left hand holds the trumpet up or the right hand for fingering.
Ever heard of a left handed piano, trumpet, flute, sax, bone, clarinet, etc...
You seriously end up, making playing the guitar harder for yourself. Most books are written 1 way. There’s a bigger choice of instruments and parts.
