He's also the one who be gave Tipper Gore the startup capital to create the PMRC, a group of (mostly) senators' wives that tried to censor/ban offensive music back in the mid 80s (which lead to the infamous "Parental Advisory" sticker). So yeah, he's pretty much the worst.
Mike gave Tipper $5,000, and Tipper said Sting and Smokey Robinson were also with her (_Billboard_ 9/21/1985); Dennis hung out with a cult leader because he could find pretty girls.

I completely agree. As somebody who suffers from bipolar disorder, it's so hard and awkward to talk about mental health in society- it's considered taboo. Making light of it (in the right manner and circumstances) to show that "Hey, we're real people who can make jokes, open up, and have dialogues to express our struggles" is, in my mind, a truly effective approach.

I think I saw an interview where he said the writers would change the jokes on the cue cards just to see if they could make him break. He said he never knew what he would see until he was in the middle of the skit.

Justin Johnson He does suffer from it. He was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Also his dad died in one of the Twin Towers on 9/11. He has had anxiety most of his young life. He is not making fun of it. Rather, he is trying to make his way through it the only way he knows how.

I wrote a similar comment earlier. I have mental illness, so does most of my family, and I found what Pete said hilarious and relatable.
But it’s also true that brains sometimes react to things as danger, even if you objectively know they aren’t. This can happen because of a random misfiring, but it’s even more common when you’ve experienced trauma. My dad dove on the street in the middle of fifth avenue while wearing a full suit... Just because of a loud noise. But he was also a soldier, and saved lives while getting shot. Reacting to something as danger - yep, even something like missing a basket, or failing a test - doesn’t mean you’re weak. And it can absolutely be a problem, even if you try to convince yourself it isn’t.
I am super happy to hear that that motto works for your brother in law, and it probably works for some other people too. But similar thoughts sometimes keep other people from getting help they really need. I just thought that was worth mentioning too. :)

1:00 so ducking relatable for me! Thanks to Pete and the writers for touching on the subject of panic attack’s and mental health. Hearing that celebrity’s also have to go through attempting suicide and therapy has helped me feel more confident and open with my own issues. I have also been in therapy for about 9 years now. It just means the world for Pete to go up there and talk about this. I know how hard it can be.

What Pete said is hilarious and relatable. I went to treatment for mental illness, and I have thought and heard lots of things like what Pete said.
But I have also known really strong people who had panic attacks from simple interactions with strangers, schoolwork, or because a smell reminded them of something traumatic. My Dad saved lives while being shot at, and he once dove on the floor in a full suit in the middle of fifth avenue because a jack hammer went off. Nothing overtly traumatic ever happened to me, and I still got sobbing panic attacks because I didn’t get enough work done that day, and I was convinced that made me worthless.
Brains aren’t always good at telling what you think they “should” be scared of from danger. If you’re scared a lot, or sad a lot, please see a doctor if you can. Even if you are convinced it’s “dumb” or “nothing” or you “shouldn’t” be reacting like that. Pretty much everyone I know with mental illness thought that at some point. It doesn’t mean your reaction is any less real or important.
