The round copper with donut thing should be a common mode choke. The signal going through the wire has to fight the magnet so weaker signals get choked out. I have used them to filter out AM radio signal in areas that are prone to the building ground acting as an antenna. Never thought of using one in that way and it did sound really good.
Crazy ideas and some interesting results. You can get common mode chokes in many different verities and if you stick a steal rod through the center you get an inductor which is what the Gibson Veritone system like in the EB 0,2 or 3 to not pop when you switched caps. I'm trying at/designing/building that into my bass build now. I think that is why your "relay" worked the same as the choke.
Look messing around with stuff is how we learn. Either yourself or Someone else thinking "Well that did not quite work but if I..." Is how we improve on what we find out when we mess around with stuff. That is why I like your channel.
We just need to not get into the "We're going to need another Timmy" situation. If you don't know the saying CZcams will be happy to show you.

@@MrAaroncissell oh god you brought back memories I was so scared of the baby dinosaur as a kid 🤣 but I agree we need to just make experiments and see what happens and maybe if we try things we think might not work but are unsure of maybe we'll find something new and that would be great because the music industry desperately needs it😜

The sound of the "round coiled thing" was really interesting. Maybe puting something like a pod for controlling the mix between that and the original signal (don't know if that would work out, but if not, could be a 2nd LM board and one goes through the coil thing and the other doesn't).

The coil is a choke or inductor. I you put one on a pot it forms the basis of a wah pedal and Q-filter. The capacitors act as either high or low-pass filters.

@zurowetz I'm currently painting an old Boss RV-5 enclosure (black with rainbow iridescent sparkles), I wired up my inputs/outputs to a 3PDT toggle switch, and I still have to transfer my Fuzz Face clone circuit from breadboard to Veroboard and solder it, this is my first pedal. @zurowetz I totally will!
I rushed painting the housing last night... messed it all up! Oh well, we have acetone at work, gotta carefully remove it and try again, this time I will give ample time between paint coats... like at least a day between coats of the black gloss primer, then a few days for that to dry before the glitter coat.
I'm definitely learning patience, that 3PDT switch kept me busy for a while, I kept breaking wires and having to resolder things, but I didn't give up and got it finally.

10:00 How exactly did you twist the *transistor's legs?* I mean, which leg with which?
16:30 With the motor, it sounds like it's compressing the signal a little bit, but that might be auto-suggesting 😀
