In many countries its mandatory to go to a sea survival training ( which include inflating a life raft and climbing into it) before you can work on the sea. I don't understand how the people on the boat have never seen a life raft inflate. when you need a life raft is not the best time to figure out how it works.

I mean, there has been people stranded out in actual open ocean for way longer, without being watched by a crew "Stranded", while this is cool yeah. They weren't stranded, they had boats all around them watching out for them.

The fact that they're scared to eat dried food that is made to stay good for decades is the most entertaining thing.
What got me was that they brought things like beef jerky. So much salt! Not a good thing when you have limited water, for sure. Kinda wish they would have only used the raft's emergency supplies. Or at least tried other things like desalinating water, go over what exactly was in the kit, and so on.
Survival food typically has a best before date rather than an expiry date. It is still safe to eat, but some of the sensory qualities may be diminished.

Cool video! Huge props for stepping outside the comfort zone. Couple of things if anyone is ever forced into a liferaft that these guys didn't know:
- There is typically a supply of seasickness pills in any liferaft. Everyone should take one immediately after casting off from the sinking ship.
- There will also be a sea anchor. This will slow the motion of the liferaft so it doesn't drift as far and it will orient the raft so there isn't water splashing in or wind blowing through the living space.
- The floor of the liferaft is inflatable, so you can create an air gap between the crew and the cold water. Air conducts heat far less efficiently than water does so you will stay warmer if the bottom is inflated.
- Basically, it's a good idea to take inventory of everything you have ASAP if you are in a survival situation like that.
Good on you for doing this experiment and keeping it safe, keep up the adventures!

I've done that, I bought products in Sweden and lived in a car for over a week.

Not that hard. There are lots of ways to get free food (Narvesen app, go to hotel buffets, etc)... I even know an outdoors bar with unlimited chili nuts that they keep there even when it closes lol.
