UNFI actually just started using electric reefers. I saw a whole bunch of them at one of their distribution warehouses a couple months ago, and the tops of the trailers are covered in solar panels. I'm not sure how well they work, but they seem to be buying more of them.

I run on the east coast so I'm not sure if it's happening now but I always figured companies will just put yards or distribution centers just outside the California line and run the Cali trucks over the line drop, and let the real trucks take it from there to points east. Or vice versa

They are going back to the good old days where they will use horses and wagons to bring the produce to Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona. From their regular trucks will be able to deliver the goods around the country. On that note trucks will bring goods to California’s border, and they can bring them and move them in the state via horse and wagon.

Electric semis are only okay for day cabs and in town towing, crossing state lines and going from west to east coast will have to be diesel semis, the battery range and the hills on a electric semi will be so low also can it really tow 40-80 tons or even 100 tons + all day and night long?
