Oh my God, I had no idea Heart covered this incredible song. And this is the mother of all covers, wow... just amazing! I'll be coming back to listen to this again and again.

A dedication to my best friends sister Kathy who passed away this morning she sang this song in her own band back in the 80's! She had tremendous talent!! 🎤
A group of us went to see Heart at MSA in Indy on 7/19/1980...my sister Allyson was in an auto accident later that night and didn't survive. This song came out later that year and I first heard it when I was visiting friends in Jax FL...it's special to me. Allyson would have loved it!
I know right? I was just posting the same, she went from HIGH to LOW in one breath and carried a note so long I was out of breath. I have listened to this about 20 times in a row. My song virus for bedtime lol
And the Saturday Night Live version just proves that she could do it all outside the studio as well. No autocue, no Fairlight, just superb vocals - she absolutely nails it again.
Just came out of a Heart concert 2024. This is about the only hit they didn't perform so needed this video immediately. Ann is fantastic on this song. What a voice
What a perfect cover rendition of this great Aaron Neville song as can only be sung by Ann Wilson, the greatest female vocalist in Rock music...not even arguable, IMHO ! Ann was a Fox during this time period !...No doubt about it !! and I, Just... "Tell it like it is" Oh, by the way....Aaron Himself...has said he likes this rendition by Ann, very much.
I don't know that I would say that Ann is gorgeous. An amazing singer with a seductive voice and powerful lungs who can belt it out like few others can? Absolutely; but she doesn't look like she used to. Nancy, on the other hand, is still smokin' hot.
Aaron should like it ! Ann gave the song " heart ". Aaron's was restrained - didn't have enough emotion or urgency for me The blues guitar in Heart's version is stunning .The vocal is mesmarising !
@@lyndonwoodward8329 I agree. I dig Aaron too and that version. It's just that Ann really put this one over. More ❤, as you indicated. And, having just seen them again recently, I say Ann is still gorgeous, and sings a mean lick! 😍
It takes a very special kind of musician to take a song that was created by someone else and blow it out of the water. This is a perfect example of that. Ann Wilson is the Aretha Franklin of rock and roll. The vocals on this are fucking amazing!
+south bend HEART actually covers several AMAZING tunes! There's nothing better than a great cover. I am a huge HEART fan~Their songs were some of the first songs I ever learned to play on guitar. Check out HEART'S cover of "UNCHAINED MELODY ".....PHENOMENAL!
+HockeyTown_Girl ...true again. In the bigger scheme of things, Heart has written the vast majority of the songs they've recorded. But whenever they do "cover" a tune, the make it their own and seem to create the definitive version of the song.
I heard this again yesterday for the first time in a long time. I ended up putting on loop in my car and cranking it to 11. Must have listened to it at least 20 times and it never got old. Thanks Ann and Nancy for making me smile.
God I love the 80's. Man, we were too busy living it up, being spoiled of all the beauty and great rock n roll around us. We didnt stop to appreciate it. Now, i look back and think, Wow!
Billy Joe Royal sang this one when I was growing up in the 60s. Aaron Neville put the soulful sound to it with his beautiful voice. However Ann Wilson takes this to the highest level ever imho.
Ann Wilson sings that song just as if she is telling like it is. She has the voice of a Arch Angel who delivers the goods. She truly does want to live. "Tell it like it is* Ann
I accidently walked up to ann and Nancy in a record store in Columbus Ohio in 1977. I was awestruck. If I only knew what was coming I would have tried to marry them both. They are amazing!😁
Two very easily identifiable traits Heart displays: they can cover Led Zeppelin's Rockn'roll with an outstanding performance of such a complicated song to cover.... Same goes to Aaron Neville's Tell It Like It Is.... Blasting Rockn'roll and Deep Rythm & Blues romance.... Hats off to Ann & Nancy Wilson & Band... Heart are Champions 🎩💓🎶🎶🎶👊
The Seattle sirens... luring you onto the rock Of.... What, maybe Mercer Island,?! What a beautiful voice! Dreamboat Annie... She gives me Goosebumps! I wonder who 'Flash in the Pan', "Joan Jet" did to get into the rock and roll hall of fame ahead of these girls! Heart has been rocking it and rocking it good since the seventies. I dare say they've had a hit album before and more recently then Joan Jet. In fact, Auto corrupt keeps trying to turn Joan Jet into Joe bet, yo bet, bow jet,... It's like it's never heard of her... "WHO?"
Anybody who knows me, knows I'm 100% Old Skool R&B and Soul. Every once in a blue moon, a cover will surpass the original. Ann pushes aside the floating falsetto of Aaron Neville and attacks this song like Teddy Pendergrass. The harmonies, the sweet guitar solo. Perfection!!
This has just absolutely has to be one of the best songs they ever did, listen to that voice, the feeling behind it. This should have 50 mil views wth?
Heart at their sexiest (look at those "come hither" looks...yowza!) but also at their most melodic and creative. The harmony and sax parts give this classic some real punch...I absolutely love this song and their very capable rendition of it.
I had to come back here lol I just love the wilson sisters so much, Ann and nancy are freaking hot as hell and that woman can sing, Nancy is amazing on guitar and she is too freaking cute dancing with it at the end lol
you are either born with pipes like this, or you're not. ann is gorgeously talented and amazing then and now. glad to hear Heart is touring with Def Leppard.
Sharon Owens why does every one over look Nancy? She is far more talented and better looking than Ann. Don't get me wrong... Ann can sing. But so can Nancy and she shreds on guitar and looks hot as fk doing it. Lol
Eric Swanson: Nancy gets a lot of positive attention due to her musicianship, vocal harmony and her pretty fabulous looks. Haters have bashed Ann for gaining weight, so perhaps much of recent discussion about Ann, the music and her place as (arguably) rock’s strongest voice is intended to push back.
Yes mine to my mom loved Heart and I am glad that I got a chance to listen to them and have a love for them too!!! Anne and Nancy Wilson still kick ass today this day!!!
She's my biggest female music idol too! I'm a dramatic soprano just like she is! The thing that you should know about me is that I'm a Heart fan at the age of 16!
I love Nancy dancing with the guitar at the end xD And I wonder if the cameraman was able to move on with his life after seeing Ann perform like this looking at "him"
This, 1980, is when I believe Nancy was at her hottest. The peak of sexiness, in my opinion. The end of this video is so charming; Nancy is so adorable dancing with her guitar. I couldn't be a bigger fan of this flawless band.
These two ladies in their prime, beauty was no problem and we all knew they could sing and perform... hard to not include the 4 original guys, especially Roger... what a great band....
I know that Aaron Neville is smiling when he hears this rendition of his song. Ann Wilson could sing the phone book and make it soulful!
She can make any song soulful!
Excellent job girl
I listen to this song all the time
I love this and I like Nina Simone version as well
Billy Joe Royal too, he did a great job!..late 80's
Ann's voice is top notch on this track, makes my arm hair stand up! She's the best ❤
Ann Wilson. Holy crap, what a voice!

🕊️🌌🌠
She's an angel in the sky 😉😉😉
Ann Wilson...what can I say but DAMN!!! What a wonderful woman with more talent in her thumb nail than a lot of "artists" today...
That Lady won my heart the first time I saw her sing Dreamboat Anne when Heart was not even well known lol.
The Wilson sisters amazing, they could sing anything and make it better and are easy on the eyes.
one of the great female rock vocalists 🎤🎼🎧

Jesus christ the pipes on that woman :O! damn Ann you rock.

Agreed I love Annie! YT won't let me add comment, hope you don't mind.
Ann still smoked cigarettes, at the time.
Is there anything she can't sing? Awesome!
NO! She does everything ....Her and Nancys cover of Stairway to Heaven had Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in tears during the Kennedy Center Honors..
Yes, that was awesome. Had me in tears too.
Nope .
And the Saturday Night Live version just proves that she could do it all outside the studio as well. No autocue, no Fairlight, just superb vocals - she absolutely nails it again.
Beautiful voice 💜💜💜💜kicks Asss!!!what a jam!!! Crank it up!!!!🎶🎶🎶🤮💜💜💜💜💜
Just came out of a Heart concert 2024. This is about the only hit they didn't perform so needed this video immediately. Ann is fantastic on this song. What a voice

Excellent. I saw Heart in concert in Lexington, Kentucky, 1978.

Oh, by the way....Aaron Himself...has said he likes this rendition by Ann, very much.
Dana Brinkmeier Gives me chills....in a good way! Love it, love it, love it!
Ann is still a fox. Okay, that is probably not the word I would choose... Hmm...Gorgeous? Yes, that is what I will go with.
I don't know that I would say that Ann is gorgeous. An amazing singer with a seductive voice and powerful lungs who can belt it out like few others can? Absolutely; but she doesn't look like she used to. Nancy, on the other hand, is still smokin' hot.

+HockeyTown_Girl ...true again. In the bigger scheme of things, Heart has written the vast majority of the songs they've recorded. But whenever they do "cover" a tune, the make it their own and seem to create the definitive version of the song.
Let's also remember that "Alone" itself is an amazing cover!!
Amen and Then Some.
Probably the most powerful voice in singin industry! Love Heart!!
Ann's voice is so full of emotions. She really puts her soul into this song.
I heard this again yesterday for the first time in a long time. I ended up putting on loop in my car and cranking it to 11. Must have listened to it at least 20 times and it never got old. Thanks Ann and Nancy for making me smile.

I absolutely LOVE this version! Ann & Nancy will always be #1 in women rockers of the 70's... 💖
Funny thing is, they did their BEST work in the 80s.
I hate to say it, but in my opinion, this version kills the original. Ann's voice is an instrument that nobody else can play. I love these ladies!
Badass 👍💯
We’re here in 2023 I’m 28 and I absolutely adore this song and this version ❤
I'll tell you like it is Ann is simply the best "EVER"👌❤️
The best cover ever
Very bluesy and mainstream- give the Wilson sisters credit for such a bluesy version of Tell It Like It Is!!!
I 💘 Ann Wilson's version of this great song!
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Wilson sisters!!! No one can sing like dreamboat Annie! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The 70's and 80's women were the most "Beautiful" in their most natural condition!
Tell it like it is.....No one can hold a candle to Ann Wilson's voice.....
Billy Joe Royal sang this one when I was growing up in the 60s. Aaron Neville put the soulful sound to it with his beautiful voice. However Ann Wilson takes this to the highest level ever imho.
Ann Wilson is not only Beautiful but the way she sings I bet She can make rap music sound Good
Ann Wilson sings that song just as if she is telling like it is. She has the voice of a Arch Angel who delivers the goods. She truly does want to live. "Tell it like it is* Ann
This version of this song got released when I was a teenager around Christmas time and everytime I hear it, it brings back memories
I accidently walked up to ann and Nancy in a record store in Columbus Ohio in 1977. I was awestruck. If I only knew what was coming I would have tried to marry them both. They are amazing!😁
I can't say I blame you there. I'm still in love with these ladies today! But I'm glad you got to meet them, what a great memory to hold on to.
I just watch 6 hours of heart, NONE of the songs have the voice, looks, sound of this one JUST FUCKING WOW
Has there ever been a more perfect harmony between lead and back up vocal? Man I love you guys, I always have and I always will!

I wish Nancy and Ann would have been able and willing to tell me like it is to be with them at every moment of every day!!🥰🥰
She is beautiful and sings like a angel xxx
I saw Heart live in '81. They opened for The Stones. Hate to admit it but they really sounded better too. Sorry Mick. Sorry Keith.
No need to be sorry. I also saw the Stones in 1981 (Van Halen opened for them) and I really enjoyed them, but Mick can't touch Ann Wilson!
God Heart's version of this classic does something to me
Who is the Original singer of this song.? Because I LOVE IT.. but would like to hear it.
@@AshEyeCandy Aaron Neville
Nancy was such a lovely baby doll
She has a whole lotta soul, love that woman, what a voice ans she knows how to use it
OMG she is the queen. You surely are amazing Ann.
What a cover, the best of all, I love Heart! Heart´s lover for ever!
The gorgeous, fantastic voice of Ann Wilson. A brilliant artist. Love this 1980 version of the Aaron Neville classic .
The saxophones on this cover are incredible, even though they don't do much in the song
A great rendition of Aaron Neville's '60s R&B tune by a truly great band!
I love it when she put her hand on nancy shoulder when she says " i wanna live i wanna live"
at this time in their careers, both Ann and Nancy Wilson are stunning in looks and performing abilities, 2 knockouts...
God they were just so classy...talented and goodlooking too ;)

Ladies and gentlemen ... Miss Ann Wilson.
Oh yes, she can sing! :D
This has just absolutely has to be one of the best songs they ever did, listen to that voice, the feeling behind it. This should have 50 mil views wth?
@Joe Newbie: Ann Wilson completely seduces you with her singing like few vocalists can.
lindsey lefrois I put her on full screen, 32" monitor and she looks right into your eyes as she does completely seduce you. This song and her WOW!!!!!
Vocalist like her only come along every generation or two, and Nancy dancing with her guitar alone adds some loneliness to the to the song
Heart at their sexiest (look at those "come hither" looks...yowza!) but also at their most melodic and creative. The harmony and sax parts give this classic some real punch...I absolutely love this song and their very capable rendition of it.
I think you have a higher perm tolerance than I do.
Eric Beer have you ever see-listen to her playing the flute. As in anything just great,!
Talent/Beauty Overload.
Heart did a spot on rendition of this Aaron Neville classic.
Seems like it was just yesterday when I first heard Heart do this song - but it was 40 years ago.
Love this, was "so in love" for the hundredth time when this was out! Lol🥰🤣❣️💔
This is my all time favorite heart song!
Its pretty good Alan, but what about Crazy On You. I just lmao at the way the people are dancing, we didnt dance like that in the 80's noway dude.
This was a classic for Aaron Neville
WOW I didnt thought that Heart is that old!!!!!!!
Great singing, and great solo by Howard.
Nancy slow dancing with her guitar 🥰🥰🥰

love this song, is it just me or does this song get overlooked in favor of their 70's hits and their mid to late 80's hits?
It's an uninspired cover, no surprise there.
