    This system only is very confusing, so i suggest you to create a txt file in the main folder with all the subfolder printed in a tree inside. Only in this way you can avoid an headache trying to remember wich folder you have inside a letter. Trust me. To do that, just open the main folder with dos and write TREE, copy your tree in a txt files and voilà!

    Wait, isn't this the same thing of having all those folder on the dropbox root and then sorting and/or grouping them by name?

    Scott, great video. That's exactly what I need. How do I set it up. Do I need Dropbox?

      Hi, Pat. So glad that you enjoyed this video! No, you do not need to use any specific cloud storage system. You can setup this method within any file system including Windows Explorer, Google Drive, or wherever you manage files.

    How can I sort a folder that contains mixed folders and files by name so that the files and folders are arranged together? ❓

    • @Simpletivity
      @Simpletivity  Před 29 dny

      Unfortunately, Google Drive doesn't currently have a built-in option to sort folders and files together by name in a single list.
      The standard sorting options are:
      Name: Sorts files and folders separately.
      Last modified: Sorts by the last modification date, regardless of file or folder type.
      Owner: Sorts by the owner of the file or folder.

    This method doesn’t work for me as I got quite a number of files and folder. I manage by category: Business, Personal Finance, Sports, Volunteering etc since I realized it while using Windows 95 (sorry don’t stress about this if you don’t know but it was Windows older operating system). Unfortunately, the ever evolving operating systems be it Microsoft or MAC gives people a bad habit by defaulting any download file to save in Download folder.
    Folder management should be taught in school (as we moved from traditional pencil to screen pencil)...the CEOs are quite old to learn this at this stage 😑

    Would be a whole lot easier if you could tag files, searching would be a whole lot easier

    Lovely!
    Why not prefix all "branding" files with [brand] you could also add a prefix [logo] or [colour] or whatever.
    Date format I use is YYYY-MM-DD and if only year relevant then just YYYY.

    that is stupid. You still have to remember what you called everything

      Not really, @MJP - you just have to remember your categories, though of course you'll want descriptive filenames in most cases.
