  • Ther Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Black Knife from Boker Manufaktur Solingen in Germany is the official combat knife of the German Special Forces and a faithful rendition of the classic fighting knife designed by Colonel Rex Applegate. This is a very cool knife so we devised some new testing just for this one.

Apparently this knife was meant to be an improvement on that FS dagger, correcting two deficiencies that have been noted with it over the years: a tip what was prone to breakage if it hit bone, and a handle that was completely circular in cross section, making it impossible to feel where the edge was oriented unless you ran your thumb up onto the cross guard.

True Story here. Mine just arrived from amazon yesterday and I really love it. I actually ordered the bead blasted (silver) blade with the brass crossguard, but they sent me the stealthy and very sexy all black one. Just like yours! Well, anyway I just wanted to say that your video was cool and the knife was worth every penny.

Of course you don't do the normal tests with a dagger. This model has been on the market for a long time already and I dare to say it's an improvement on the original Fairbain Sykes dagger. I've looked at it many times but really have no need for a dagger. But if you do this is a very good choice for sure. One of the best.

Watching this thinking well Bryan - this would not be legal in my state where it is considered to be "only a weapon blade" because of the double edge so for that reason so I won't buy one myself. However further in watching you use the knife and I thought hay! Bryan is leaning hard into another blade type I hope to have soon. American made and worth the cost a Ronin Katana Dojo Pro Samuarai Sword $265 - $300 which are considered short blades of around 28" long and the little side kick a Wakizashi. Or build one! Watch CZcamss how they come apart and go back together to understand how easily they can be repaired or customized. Brilliant simplicity. Run out of ammunition and as I am short these are a far better choice than all the present blades I own. Watch some CZcamss on the Ronin's and you will see they have a solid build beginners can actually practice with without spending $600 - $800 and up. Ronin has many blade styles to look at however I like the clean look, beauty and utility of use Katana's have. Watch how they fasten to the body and quickly remove. Total simplicity! Just fun and displays beautifully yet very functional if needed. Made in the USA!

I own s110v spydercos, Victorinox, mora and böker knives and i use them all the same. Don't let steel bother you blade geometry and heat treat are way more important. And this being a fighting knife a decent all around stainless steel actually makes sense imo. I mean do what you want but if you really like the knife why dont you just give it a go?
