When I first played the Blue Lions, I was kind of unsure as to whether I would like Sylvain or not. Like you, I thought he was gonna be the one note generic anime womanizer. I seriously didn't expect to like him as much as the likes of Claude, Dimitri, Ferdinand, Seteth, Dorothea, Hilda, or others. In fact, I was so touched by his character that I absolutely married him in Silver Snow. It doesn't hurt that he's a good unit as well. People say great night sucks on maddening, but honestly, Great Knight Sylvain is one of the best decisions I've ever made alongside with dark flier Lysithea. Sylvain is one of my favorite characters in all of Fire Emblem, and is a worthy candidate for favorite character in Three Houses.
Ah! It's so nice to see such an in depth discussion about Sylvain. He is one of my favorite characters as well, something that I was surprised to find when I first played BL. I love how so many characters have such excellent character arcs in the game.
I know, I really liked the blue lions route because of how a lot of the houses characters were involved in the white clouds missions like ashe with lonato and sylvain with miklan. It really enhanced their character arcs IMO.
i love sylvain he is one of my favourite characters he is just so awsome his backstory with his brother is sad that guy miklan really was a cold hearted bastard .
He does discriminate, he doesn’t hit on masculine women.

Yeah I'll definitely start looking in to making a video on them, odds are I'll probably make one on Seteth before Yuri though
While I enjoy his Character, him being a misogynist made him very dangerous and unlikable in the beginning, which can easily turn off people, who had been Humiliated by people like him.
He is however smart, capable, gifted and strong, if he can actually commit to it, heck he is also conveniently attractive, so he should not get problems with Woman, if he stops skirtchasing them.
Margrave Gautier was right to disown Miklan, he sucks compared to Sylvain.

I think the way that hey manage to positively subvert our expectations of the character from initial interactions with him is what makes him great. And tbh its clear that while Miklan got dealt a shitty hand in life, he chose to respond to it in the worst way possible. So I would also say that Miklan sucks lol
