I think the obvious choice for a dark country song is Whisky Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. You could possibly sneak in Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks too.

You might try Blood on my name by The Brothers Bright. May not be exactly what you're after but it's dark and angry and scared. It was done for a short movie you can find on here under the same name that's pretty good - if you look for the movie make sure it's a little over 12 minutes long; anything less isn't it!
