    Another dark country song is "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" by Reba McEntire and was originally recorded by Vicki Lawrence in the 70's. Vicki Lawrence is known for playing on the "Carol Burnett Show" and it's spinoff "Mama's Family" where she played Mama. But Reba's version from 1991 is the best.

    • @Indy_Girl
      @Indy_Girl Před 5 lety

      Kathi Disney No it he wrote it after hearing a line about thunder rolling from a Kathy Mattea song. It started off being a joke (in Garth’s words) but turned into something pertinent. The only connection with Tanya Tucker is the record company pitched it to her first. She declined so Garth took. She did record it and it appeared on one of her records but wasn’t a hit for her.

    • @KathiDisney
      @KathiDisney Před 5 lety +2

      @@Indy_Girl Hmmmm..."The Thunder Rolls" is one of Garth Brooks' most well-known hits ... but he wasn't the first country artist to record the song. Brooks co-wrote the tune with Pat Alger, and they gave it to Tanya Tucker, who recorded it but didn't release it until after it became a hit for Brooks. Brooks released "The Thunder Rolls" as the fourth single from his sophomore No Fences album, and in 1991, it became a No. 1 song in both the U.S. and Canada. She has all 3 lyrics on her song.

    May not actually be considered by most fans as dark, but Travis Tritt’s “Tell me I was dreaming”, as well as the other two that go to this song ( the other two are “Any more” and “if I lost you”) are definitely tear jerkers.
