    I made one of these about 10 yrs ago & still have it! I used 5 pillowcases I already had & just stitched the long edges together (openings all at the same end) then I sewed 3 long-ish (maybe about 10"/20cm then folded in half) loops of elastic to one end, 1 innthe middle & 2 about 5-6"/10-12cm from each edge) rolled it up (with pillows in) and then marked where on the rolled up part to hand sew 3 big buttons. So it rolls up & elastic button closes! If you want to overstuff the pillowcases, the cheap inners can be thin so I used 2 pillow inners in each case, you can also use a wee bit of elastic & a button to secure the pillowcases openings better :)
    My kids are 18 & 21 now & they still use it when going to a party etc, handy with a sleeping bag!!

    Excellent job! I’m also a professional dressmaker/seamstress and crafter who enjoys making everything herself and I must give you kudos for your fantastic creations. Good for you! Excellent way to not only save money (especially with having kids), but to make things you can be proud of.

    Wow! Looks Great! I want to make one for my sister, she has been sick and has been asking for a Pillow Bed or something she can sit up on while she is on the bed to help in giving her some relief. The ones on Amazon and even Walmart etc. are expensive and I through about maybe making one instead because I use to sew stuffed animals, etc., So I decided maybe I can try to make one for her and if not then I will save up for it but it might take more time. So, I just wanted to ask what kind of sewing machine do you use and how much did it cost, I was looking online and some of them are affordable but some are expensive as well. Do you have any advice on which sewing machine would be best for making pillow beds and if so, which one's do you recommend? Please and Thank you. :)

    • @shesmakingsomething
      @shesmakingsomething  Před měsícem

      My machine was a gift, and was given many years ago, so I can't say much about the cost, but it is a Singer Brilliance. However, this project was so simple and only required a straight stitch. So any machine that can handle felt, should work just fine. I am sure your sister will love it!

    • @sherriealder
      @sherriealder Před 2 lety +3

      Using four pillows made it long enough so that I could lay on it, but if you wanted it bigger you could always try using a larger blanket and five pillows or king size pillows. Thanks so much for watching!
