started watching this, thought I'd click out. continued watching this, and added to "watch later"...couldn't click out so I continued watching this and gave the comment saying "Oh my. I am speechless" a thumbs up. Continued watching this and gave it a thumbs up. Continued watching this and added it to my favorites. Continued watching this and snapped in my head. Finished watching this, and now this comment :)
"The poet in me shoulda told 'em she's doing just fine, but I hadn't memorized all the lines yet... My best friend is not doing fine, and I can't fix it." Strikes far too close to home.
My friend sent this to me, and I began listening to it and discovered that this sounds so much like me. I really needed this right now, because I was trying to make a monologue for my theater class and I really wish I could use this, because it's so perfectly me and my friend probably won't understand how she helped me by sending me this link.
"It sounds sexier than saying she closes her eyes sometimes when she's changing lanes" I am incredibly jealous of this line; I wish it was mine... You bastard. Seriously awesome poem!
There aren't any words to express what this has brought out in me, but I'm going to try and write them anyway. Thank you, utterly and sincerely, my favourite stranger.
totally true. most poems follow the path of exageration to have the best apeal and reaction... only small parts of a poem rly matter... and even smaller parts are the ones that are true.
There are no words to describe my reaction to this amazing poem. The ending was impeccable and I just want to listen to it over and over and over again, so that's just what I'll do
Oh my god. My internet was being slow and I was getting frustrated, so I read other comments to pass the time. Then I got more frustrated coz they made me want to watch it so much more. Well, I just finished watching it. And it was most certainly worth the wait. Thank you, Chad Anderson. Your words are so magnificently beautiful. And I have also recently learnt that the only kind of poetry I can write is personal stuff - the truth. The lies just aren't poetry to me anymore.
that was a great piece of literate longing longevity. let life live long and let labors loosen loads lightly. awesome stuff and hope all works out for you my friend.
That is... Very I am not sure.. It really makes me think about all the poetry I write daily in my note books and how different they are.. From my emotions and what I am trying to express.
wow chad anderson that was hot. I literally have OCD with a tendency to perfection and so i bite my cuticles til they bleed. STILL. I'm tired of being the strong one too.
Someday you're going to get famous from that comment. Justin Timberlake is going to recognize that comment and put it all over the world, or at least on a billboard. I couldn't agree more with that comment.
What exactly is this poem about? I've watched it so many times, and I feel that the more I watch it, the more hidden the meaning is to me. Is it about the influence of words? Or is this a self-deprecating piece?
"it sounds sexier than saying she closes her eyes sometimes when she changes lanes"
That was an amazing line. I wonder how many of us died.

That was the realest shit I've ever heard,
"The poet in me shoulda told 'em she's doing just fine, but I hadn't memorized all the lines yet... My best friend is not doing fine, and I can't fix it."
Strikes far too close to home.
I always come back to this. Over and over
"I'm tired of being the strong one, all the time"
Dude, I was biting my cuticles as he said that line and it made me stop for a second.

"She closes her eyes sometimes when she's changing lanes."

i feel like most of us can relate to what he says near the end on some level, either as the situation he's in, or as the roommate, or even both.
"Because there's some things that I don't fucking talk about"
"It sounds sexier than saying she closes her eyes sometimes when she's changing lanes"
I am incredibly jealous of this line; I wish it was mine... You bastard.
Seriously awesome poem!

That line gave me chills
THIS IS SO TRUE OMG LOVE THIS. This is what poetry about. Being set free in honesty but that doesn't seem to always be the way we allow it to flow

Someday you're going to get famous from that comment. Justin Timberlake is going to recognize that comment and put it all over the world, or at least on a billboard. I couldn't agree more with that comment.

I would hate to go after him.

Is it about the influence of words? Or is this a self-deprecating piece?
i dont think its about any one thing in particular, and its ambiguity is probably what the author was going for
Self-deprecating
SPEAK
I don't see why they call presenting paragraphs spoken word petry...
I know Jessica isn’t real because you’re not 13 in 5th grade

Never read the transcripts along with the poetry. The transcript is awful
