    • @SIPEROTH
      @SIPEROTH Před 2 lety +11

      If the phone does the job you need then you can keep using it.
      Saying that am still using a Mi Max 2 from 2017 without changing battery ether. Is gonna close 5 years this summer and that is a Chinese lower budget Android phone(bought 250 euro new), admittedly from the more decent Chinese makers but one that produces ton of models every year so doesn't focus that much on one or two phones.
      If that is getting close to 5 years and going then Apple with their high prices and focus on one two devices each year better be making a phone that can be used for 10 years.

    As someone who went from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 13…. The iPhone 13 is a pretty solid phone… it doesn’t change extremely from the 11 (or the 12 I assume, but I never had 12) but the improvements they did make such as faster internet speeds and clearer picture on streaming videos (and I swear even my games look better on 13 than 11) was enough to make owning a 13 a better experience… but yeah… I didn’t really switch to IPhone until the 11 so… Idk what any of the old iPhones were like during their prime.!

      Matter of fact almost every iPhones holds up pretty well to this date, it's just the hardware improvements that stands out. I've currently 3 iPhones in my house, 7, XR and 12 and when i say this I'm not high that the 7 feels almost as smooth as the 12. The only upgrade are the cameras and display, rest the face ID and gestures fluidity etc are almost similar to the XR. In terms of sustaining an iPhone through software updates it boils down to the strength of the processor but if the topic is revolving around how long would an iPhone last? Well 10 years least, you'd probably need to get a battery replacement and you're good to go.

    • @Reverse_Goat
      @Reverse_Goat Před 2 lety

      Iphones software and hardware wise still hold up well but the battery is one big bummer for most of these. The oldest iphones I recommend are probably the 11 onces. Skip the 12's they are lame upgrades (similar performance, 5g doesnt work properly, worse battery, most of the cheaper once start at only 64 gigs and no charger in the box) and 13 are still the latest but that change since 14 is just round the corner.

    29:24 I’d swap the 12 and 13. The 12 had issues with battery performance, over heating, and the camera was a disappointment for an iPhone. The 13 fixed all those issues. Boring phone for sure, but fixed the problems the 12 had. The 12 would have such a hard time connecting to just the simple iPhone to iPhone transfers, but not issues with the 13 so far.

    It’s a shining example of what Good technology is all about. It’s a true iPhone in the traditional sense.
    It’s my first iPhone. I haven’t even had mine since a year, and I already cannot even imagine going to a “Regular” sized phone by today’s standards.
    Steve Jobbs must be so proud on that little device.
    “It’s like a fun sized Candy Bar, that packs all the flavour, but doesn’t pack all the calories”
    I remember hearing that about the device somewhere, and I think it’s so true.

    The 11 pro is my favorite iPhone of all time mainly because it’s the last iphone to have that perfect slightly smaller 4.8inch size. A little smaller than the regular 11/12/13 but a little bigger than the 12 mini and 13 mini. It’s such a perfect size not too small and just big enough for my thumb to reach top to bottom of the screen without stretching or moving it. Plus it’s got that HDR Oled display same as the 12 and 13, and the amazing 3 cameras the pro’s have. It’s just the perfect iPhone to me, or it would be 100% perfect if it just had the classic iPhone 5 square design that the 12 and 13 have, but the rounded iPhones are still more comfortable to hold so it works out. I’ll probably keep using my 11 pro another year or 2 happily

    Enjoyed, I’m 70 yrs old still a smartphone junkie. I had some great androids too, like the s 3 and some of the notes and htc phones, my first ip was the 3 then 3g on up to iPhone 8 then finally got my first iPhone big screen xs max, that’s what I have now. iPhone 5 s was one of my favorites, besides the iPhone 4 of course.great memories, thanks.

    Merry Christmas! I personally would rate the the 13 much higher than it was or at least switch it with the 12. It brought a much better battery and just refined the experience. I mean the 13 mini has a way better battery than even the 12 itself. To be honest I can’t say how amazing it is as I have the 13 pro max but from the looks of it I think the 13 just improved it entirely. Anyways have a great day! :)

    Tbh id rate the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 higher, solid phones. I think that the water resistance was better than if it would have had a headphone jack.
    As for the base iPhone 11 id bump that up to a B teir. Its a solid phone with a better camera than the iPhone X. For me it has better and faster face id and its front camera can zoom out

    I still like my 11 and I don’t have any issues with it. As I’ve grown in video/audio hobby, I just wish it had an OLED screen. I’ve sort of thought about upgrading, but I honestly don’t have any desire to, unlike from the 4s to 5s, or 5 to 7.

    Edited to add: Just got my new iPhone 13 Pro which replaced my beloved iPhone X. Couldn’t resist the $800 trade in credit that Verizon offered for my iPhone X. I’ll take a depreciation of only $200 in 4 years any day! 😝🎅🎄

    Hi! Watching this a year and a half later. I agree mostly with this list, but the 12 was, for me, at least A tier, B is the lowest I’d go. Why? Because:
    -Brought back the iPhone 4 form factor
    -First budget iPhone with an OLED display
    -MagSafe
    -Colors (the blue is just stunning)
    -First iPhone with 5G
    And all that with the $700 price tag (64GB was good for the time; though not now lol)

    Not an Apple fan tbh, but even I would say the 12 is ATLEAST B-teir, mostly because of how it brought the flat sides of the old iPhone 4 & finally upgraded to OLED for the whole line. The flat sides with minimal bezel is an incredible design that, IMO, Apple should not/ won't move from for awhile.

      @@lifeisshrt7929 don’t forget to mention that the 12 series had overheating issues and disconnections often. The 13 fixed all that. Boring phone but it did what was needed

  • @thewatcherofawesomecontent

    iPhone 6S at B Tier..... No sir! It's a solid A Tier for me. It's not an exciting or groundbreaking smartphone in anyway at all, but it's always been unfairly overlooked to me. Rock solid, and under iOS 10 it was literal perfection.
    iPhone X at S Tier.... hmm can't agree with that ranking. Bold, experimental and it changed smartphones forever, granted. However it was a first generation phone in many ways and it wasn't perfect. Also Apple discontinued the X fairly quick. (There's a reason for that...) I would put it at a B Tier myself.
    Otherwise I strongly agree with the rest of your list.

    iPhone 3G was only $99 when you got a two-year contract, that was when it was still on AT&T only and you couldn’t get it on Verizon or anything else without jailbreaks. I was in middle school when I got that phone and it taught me sooooo much about phones and jailbreaking

    • @danielfinley-pesti6661
      @danielfinley-pesti6661 Před 2 lety

    Wow, I can’t believe how much I agreed with this list. I’ve used almost all iPhones, and all id say is the 13 mini should be higher (I don’t think it’s fair to rate the 13mini w the 13). It’s my second favorite iPhone ever behind the 5S and 4, now ahead of the 11pro.

    The iPhone 11 pro is probably my favorite for some weird reason. Big enough to be used, 3 useful cameras, good camera performance, good battery performance, has that frosted glass back that newer models like the 12 and 13 pros have, and it still has a curved edge compared to the flat edge the newer models have. I’m far more comfortable with round edges when I’m using a phone case.

    The 5C would be great if it was like $129 cheaper than the 5s without touch id, but otherwise the exact same specifications as the 5s and the 5c body. I think that would be good enough reason to upgrade to the 5s for a lot of people, but still cheap enough for tthe (apple) "budget" phone.

    I feel like the iphone X is insanely overrated. All you get is an oled screen and face id. I'm not too fussed about the edge to edge design I liked the plus phones before and the notch was really annoying cause you couldn't see the battery percentage. Oled is nice but I was fine with the ips display of the old phones. i wouldn't say it was as massive a jump as the iphone 4's retina display. Face ID packs some highly advanced tech but in practice it isn't that much or even at all better than touch ID imo. Touch ID always works, is faster and i don't have to swipe upwards to unlock. And that's about it. iPhone 8 and iPhone X both have the same A11 chip, basically the same camera, wireless charging, 3d touch (which i really miss btw) and the iPhone 8 was $200 - $300 cheaper. I bought the iPhone 8 Plus and only just replaced it with the 13 Pro Max because I really liked it. X was overhyped imo

    • @SIPEROTH

      I agree. The iphone X was a small revolution for iphones but not anything impressive in the market as a whole or as a product in general.
      The first iphone was very flawed but was a revolutionary product in general. The iphone X wasn't. The market already had OLED screens and screen edge phones etc. Apple was late with that.
