- She was a storyteller par excellence. Armed with a brilliant command of isiXhosa, its values, traditions and culture, Noxolo Grootboom bid a final adieu to millions of viewers on Tuesday night. That moment was so staggering...no less than the President delayed his address to the nation to allow the legend a majestic exit. Grootboom is among over 600 employees who are leaving the broadcaster.

When i was young, my father liked to watched the news...we did not care about news when we were young...but i knew when news were about to end, me and my brothers we would wait for the line "ndinithanda nonke emakhaya". We would then reply all of us simultaneously and say, "Nathi siyakuthanda"♥️♥️🤩. Thank you that we celebrate with you while you still alive.

It is sad that current evidence shows otherwise. The writing is on the wall for our languages. The fact that we keep shoving the language question under the carpet and continue to allow English to dominate over our languages is proof enough that they've already perished. Our kids now can't read or write in the language of their mothers. We take them to English schools that keep eroding their culture off and anglicise them. Consequently we'll cease to exist as Xhosa,, Zulu, Swati, Sotho etc and be black English people. Our Africanness will erode off of us. Because currently there's nothing we do to stop that from happening.
