- Today we visit Užice, Serbia, which in my opinion is the Medellin of Serbia! Uzice is a beautiful city located in a valley about 3 and a half hours from Belgrade, Serbia. In this vlog I will be taking you around the city of Užice to show you some of the most incredible viewpoints in the city. We will check out an incredible view that over looks the entire valley, some insane tunnels, and also a damn that creates a waterfall. If you're coming to Serbia this is definitely one of those places you have to visit, as it is very different from all the rest that I have seen here in this country! Uvac canyon is amazing and unique for sure.

The combination of tangible history and intangible charisma isn’t unique to the city, but the humour with which it is presented helps the town stand out amongst its contemporaries in Serbia. Whether you want to laugh, cry, feast or simply relax, you can do so in Užice.

As a New Belgrader, I'm insanely jealous of Uzice... 20-story apartment buildings in the middle of gorgeous mountain scenery... THAT IS THE DREAM!
To je zato što grad može da raste samo u visinu. Užička kotlina je premala za 60.000 ljudi, gradjevinskog zemljišta je premalo, pa se još odavno pribeglo soliterima, kojih ima neuobičajeno mnogo za grad ovog reda veličine. Otprilike je Užice trebalo da bude u požeškoj kotlini, a Požega u užičkoj. Pozdrav!

On the railway road, If you go about 4-5 km straight, you'll get to the place called Staparska banja. It's a beautiful place to hang out and make some barbeque,and even bath in summer, the best part is that there is no mobile network, so you can't use your phones, you have to hang out with people, it's a beautiful place, I recommend visiting it while you're in Užice.
Also that bakery is litteraly 2-3 minutes from my home. That huge building you always see there in the center is mine (Not mine in sence I own it, but I live in it). Sreten Gudurića bakery there, was really popular back in the days, and was one of the best, but now they're not the same, and they don't have as many bakeries that they used to have here in Užice.

Chris, you should visit Kadinjača, bro! It's the most insane communist monument in Serbia. It's not popular among locals, but you'll be stunned. It's only 14km from the city. It's the place where a battalion of unexperienced, unprepared and unarmed workers was sacrificed to hold on a Nazi forces. They all die up there and the "battle" was later glorified in the communist era.
The city of Užice was named Titovo Užice after WW2 in honor of Yugoslav communist dictator Tito who ruled the country for 35 years, until his death. His monument was placed in the main square, but has been removed during 90's and now is placed behind the museum.
Užice is despite its polluting problem one of the most beautiful places to visit in winter when is snow covered. And in the summer, unlike extremely hot Belgrade, it is very pleasant place to be. 😊

@@Travelwithchris no worries bro, thank you for promoting Serbia. Every city in Serbia is full of history. Užice has its Roman name - Capedunum. Other places that you've visited, too - Belgrade (Singidunum), Zemun (Taurunum), Sremska Mitrovica (Sirmium) etc.
I guess they already told you in the hostel why they named it "Republika"... If not - ask them. 😊

if you're still in Užice you should visit Kadinjača memorial complex, it's an amazing piece of abstract art up in the hills it looks like an ancient alien civilization built it.

While you are in Serbia you must try food like ČVARCI (there are 2 tipes od that food like tobbaco and like candy) if you can try both version you can get it in butcher store, also try to find KAVURMA, and also you must try PODVARAK.

Do you plan on going to North Macedonia at all? Skopje has the most statues in all of Europe and Ohrid has the deepest largest lake- recommend these two cities if you go! Also you need to eat something other than burek and pastries!!! Haha love watching your Serbia adventures, the balkans don’t get noticed too much and they’re a beautiful place!

Whoah, me and my best friend have a same car same colour and we live in the same building, neighbour knocked on my door and said my car got hit by a truck again (my car got hit from behind in june bcz some guy is going 70mph in 20mph zone). I WAS FREAKING OUT AND I WAS SO ANGRY, then neighbour send me pictures of the car, and i realised it was my friends car, front and engine is totally destroyed, and she was about to Germany this morning with her dad and brother, soo she is not going anywhere till her car is fixed. Unfortunately last few years Serbia in winter is most polluted country in Europe ..its just crazy how polluted it is ..last few days i was on Kopaonik which is very high mountain in Serbia from where you can see like very big part off Serbia...and is crazy when you see from there .. up there is sunny and very nice weather and down there is like endless white sea which is pollution and when you get down there there is no sun...but actually weather is sunny but you dont see the sun because off pollution.
Before we laughed China because off their pollution but now we are much much worse then them.
When i was a kid i remember that most days in winter were sunny ...now you see sun very rearlly ...there is lot thing that this government dont want to tell us.
Tebra, pomešao si maglu i smog. To što si video sa Kopa je magla i savršeno je normalna pojava u celoj Srbiji. Proguglaj malo.
Smog se u Srbiji javlja samo u gradovima i najčešće je žućkaste ili sivkaste boje kada se pogleda iz daljine. Beograd ima problem sa smogom cele godine, a drugi gradovi poput Užica recimo, samo zimi.
@@analogninomad JA idem tamo svake godine 35 godina..nisam ja pomesao nista..ne moze magla da bude 10 dana non stop 24h dnevno..ne znam ko te slagao to..to je magla pomesana sa smogom a zbog smoga ta magla je konstatna.
Ovde u Kgu sunce je zasijalo jedan dan zadjnih mesec dana..i ako je u stvari suncano vreme..ali se ne vidi od smoga.

I sama reč smog po svojoj etimologiji označava mešavinu dima (tj zgađenja) i magle (smoke+fog).
U svakom slučaju, u gradu je smog, u prirodi je magla.
Razumeli smo se buraz, sve pet. Prijatan dan i srećna slava, ako slaviš danas! 🍺

@@dzonikg pa i klima nam se malo uzjebala, zar ne? Ne bi to bila jedina razlika u odnosu na pre 10 godina. Magla može i nedeljama da se zadrži na određenim lokacijama (Engleska je puna takvih lokaliteta). Istina, toga nije bilo toliko kod nas ranije, osim možda u požeškoj kotlini i sličnim mestima, ali sad je svašta moguće. Seoska domaćinstva nisu u stanju da kreiraju smog, za to je potrebna teška industrija, mnogo saobraćaja, masovna upotreba fosilnih goriva za grejanje i naravno, mikroklimatski uslovi pogodni za stvaranje magle (kotline, odsustvo vetra, vegetacija, temp. inverzije itd).
No, da ne spamujemo više po koment sekciji. U redu je imati drugačije mišljenje. Hvala Bogu da ne mislimo svi isto. I sve je dobro dok nismo spremni da se na tipično srpski pobijemo oko svake gluposti oko koje se ne slažemo. 😏
