The world needs more love songs- we don’t have them anymore 😢
Absolutely! Agree 💯
It's as though we've forgotten what it is..
Well there's not much love anymore, friendship, etc. it's a crazy world.
Back when music was sweet- lyrics were meaningful-
always loved this song.
I'm so fortunate to grow up to this music.
And we'll die with it....I'm ready, this world is too crazy!
Same! 🔥. ThompkinsJr's vocals make me cry - I won't 'front' 😂.
And me , huge 70's music fan , this song is just beautiful , I wonder how many weddings this has been played at over the years ❤
The Stylistics, like so many of the early 70s groups were so talented and I never get tired of listening to this type of music!
They are part of the "Philadelphia Sound" of the 60's and 70's. Others that came from the Sound of Philadelphia were 1. The Defonics. 2. The three Degrees, 3. Blue Magic, 4. Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with the great Teddy Pendergrass. 5. McFadden and Whitehead. 6. Eddie Holman.7. Lou Rawls. 8. Mother Father Sister Brother [MFSB].9. The Moments. 10. The O'Jays.
Great reaction to one of the greatest R&B and Soul groups of the late 60's and 70's. Awesome!
👨🏻🦱Thank you for giving "The Sound" a shoutout!!!👍🏻
They were the sounds of my youth along with the sounds of Motown. Your very welcome.@@louisb5563
This is one of my favorite songs by the Stylistics. They were huge in the 70's. They can just carry you away as if you're floating on a fluffy cloud!
Thanks for the beautiful song choice and reaction. The Stylistics truly have style and are a class act. According to Wikipedia, lead singer Russell Thompkins, Jr. is noted for his high tenor, countertenor and falsetto vocals. More Stylistics, please!
When I first heard this song, I was going to Basic Training in the Army. I was leaving everything behind and didn't know if I would pass this way again, and then Russell Thompkins tore me up with his amazing falsetto voice. Ya'll I thought I was hearing an angel. The greatest falsetto of all time. Of course I made it back or I wouldn't write this down. I'm an old man, but I still have a young heart. But in the end time has it's way with all of us. God bless ya'll. This is your boy from Tennessee! May God Bless You Both! Peace!
Stylistics had many hits "People Make the World Go 'Round" is a stand out.
They've made me musically happy my whole life... And I'm 61. Makes me feel Wonderful, after a few decades. THANKS
me too
What a beautiful voice. Every song they did is wonderful.
Don't stop there,go into the rabbit hole with "You are everything".
I saw them LIVE on a James Brown tour in 1971. The JB Band backed 'um up. They were GREAT. "Stop, Look, Listen to You Heart" was their new record.
Wow, lucky you! I forgot about STOP, LOOK LISTEN.
Barry Gibb of the BeeGees cited The Stylistics as one of their influences as well as the Beatles, Otis Retting, Everly Brothers, & Stevie Wonder & others... When I hear the lead singer here, I can hear how Barry was influenced to do his own falsetto. Beautiful song! Need more Stylistics reactions! Love your hair Mel! ❤❤❤
AWESOME, The Stylistics!😊💓
Great reaction!! Please go down this rabbit hole
An all time favorite right there. So beautiful
Brings back memories of my childhood. My Parents and older siblings had this music playing all the time in the background. 😊 I miss these times. RIP Family. 😢❤💔
House parties and The Stylistics!
One of the most beautiful songs ever made.♥️🎶🌹
Yes, yes, yes! One of my absolute favorites!!!
The lyrics are magical. They don't write them like this today.
Thank you for this beautiful song ,from a very special time. Please do my favorite song by them You Are Everything (1971).. please also check out the Manhattan's There's No Me Without You (1973)😊 thanks as always Shawn and Mel.
The Stylistics were one of my favorite groups in the mid 70's. They had multiple hit songs, People Make the World Go Round, Brake Up to Make Up, You are Everything and You Make Me Feel, Brand New just to name a few.
My Mother LOVES them, she still has her albums. Memories of her cleaning and playing her records and albums.
Sighhhhh.... took me straight back to junior high school. Love it!
My favorite 70's soul band.
Thank You for listening to that PHILLY SOUND! :)
The Stylistics are an American Philly soul group from the 70's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Stop, Look, Listen", "You Are Everything", "Break Up To Make Up", "People Make The World Go Round", "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "Rockin' Roll Baby", "You'll Never Get To Heaven (If You Break My Heart)" etc.
I recall their 8 track on my hi first as a kiddie in the 70's. Classic group.
Awesomeness ❤❤❤
The Spinners Could It Be I’m Falling In Love
here watching fam...
Hey Auntie thanks for watching Fam ❤️
Spring of '72, one of my all-time 70's favorites. Russell Thompkins Jr , on lead & falsetto. These guys were classy--------well dressed--------handsome-----& they sang beautifully. What a time the 70's were. You 2 needed-------really, needed-------to be there. ------MJL, 76 y/o
One of many love songs written by the late Thom Bell and the late Linda Creed.
Great song brings me back ❤ miss the good old days
This song takes me back to simpler happier times. I just love this. As mentioned in earlier comments, there are more songs to love.
Great song, great soul group! Please continue down this rabbit hole with any song by them from the 1970s. FYI: This song was originally recorded in 1970 by Connie Stevens named “Keep Growing Strong” written by Thom Bell of The Sound of Philladelphia. Check that out as well. The Stylistics recorded this song in 1971. Phyllis Hyman recorded it in 1977.
Back when this first came out, I remember recording it off the radio on a little cassette recorder. This was long before CDs, MP3s, etc. I'd rewind it a dozen times to replay it. Carefree days when life was not so in-your-face.
I love how much Shawn gets into the romantic songs as much as you Mel! ❤
YA'LL ARE SO SPECIAL!! Been watching your channel for years...JUST got to where I could comment! ENJOY YOUR REACTIONS!! Don't ever STOP!! THANKS for listening to this one! Brought back a LOT OF MEMORIES!! GREAT slow-dance song with your SWEETIE!! :) HUGS, YA'LL!!
Growing up with all this music, no many good memories, best decade
They've got plenty more, I was blessed being exposed to Soul, Funk and Jazz, growing up in New England.
Ahh songs of the 70’s. ❤
Happy music. Beautiful lyrics and melody. A perfect song for you two beautiful and happy people!
Nothing's better than slow jammin to some Old School smooth sounds! The groove, sounds, harmony of those classic songs! Awesome! Totally love it. The Stylistics, The Delfonics, The Dramatics, The Chi-lites, The Dells. Harold Melvin and The BlueNotes, Teddy Pendergrass, Smokey the list is long. So many groups and single artists from the 60's70's with bangin songs! Bring more please! A winner reaction video Shawn and Mel! 👏

One of my favourite groups in the 70's
One of Our favorites in college! Loved the Stylistics.
Beautiful song.
This is so beautiful!! Thanks Mel!!
I love the Stylistics
This real music, from the 70's. The love era. Happy music.
Classic slow dance from the old romantic days (and nights)! 🙏♥️✌️
I was a kid when I started hearing them. Really smooth songs.
My ppl with another bomb ass reaction. I swear ppl are beautiful.
I love their song, You are Everything! ❤️ I think Shawn loves Mel and Mel loves Shawn! ❤🥰❤️
I loved those guys! Liked his falsetto voice. It always reminds me of when I was at work hearing it on the radio. 👍
I sure miss sweet love songs. The 70’s sure had a wide variety of music! 🥰
Thank you for that. Philly definitely was a hotspot in the early 70s. You can add Hall & Oates to that list too.
Love love love the Stylistics!
Hello Shawn & Mel. Found you both this morning. And my heart just burst.I just turned 67 in July '23. and music has always played a big part in my life. Seeing you and knowing how young you are & that you played my favorite songs of the 60s & 70s made my night. Your reactions to each song was a sort of validation that music has the power to heal, love, and make you happy! You are an amazing and beautiful couple.. Stay Strong and keep love up high in your lives. i want to ask if you could do a comparison / reaction to '3 Mo Tenors Rodderick Dickson's "This Song For You", AND THE SAME SONG BY DONNY HATHAWAY. I won't tell my favorite until you mention you want me to. Thank you so much. keep this show going its a blessing.
❤❤❤❤❤
I loved them and discovered them performing on the Ohio State University campus. They blew us away. Their leader Russell Thompkins reminded me so much of Eddie Holman. The music from the Stylistics, Eddie Holman, ChiLites, The Spinners and Blackbyrds made college fun. All the great R&B music from that era ( 1968-1976 ) was EPIC.The great R&B music from that era was produced by Gamble & Huff, Norm Edwards and Thom Bray 🎶
Haven’t heard that song in decades but I still know all the words. Brings back good memories
Love Love Love this song. Great reaction guys!
The best of that Philly Soul we loved back in the day!♥️🎶🌹
Just another Tuesday on CKLW radio, 1972. Was lucky to grow up 50 miles from Detroit/Windsor to hear this all-time soul 🎶 🔥. Whole chunks of U.S. had zero access to soul music, early 70s. 😢
Amazing. Thank yall for taking me back to when it made it true love could be .
beautiful, sweet soul. they were never harsh or frightening.
This is the real Philadelphia sound. I remember watching them at a concert back in the day. All I saw were panties flying on the stage.
This is number one goosebumps music. 🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍
WONDERFUL !!!
Grew up with their music. Loved it.
Another group, Blue Magic-had a lead falsetto singer that had a monster hit with Sideshow-their follow-up Three Ring circus is also worth a listen.
My favorite group is The Stylistics! Love them! ❤️
The falsetto lead vocalist of Earth, Wind & Fire, Philip Bailey, has sang this a couple times in concert when I’ve seen them!
The Stylistics are one of the many great R&B/Soul/P Funk groups from back in the day! The music my older relatives used to listen to and that I fell in love with!!
Masterpiece song!❤
Philly soul of course. Those magical musicians at Sigma studios. Thom Bell and Linda Creed co-wrote many of the Stylistics hits.
Another Great Soul Band from PHILLY
I requested this a couple of times and I'm so glad you got around to playing this song... The Stylistics had more than a few good hits and sang some really great music... Once in a while you have to turn back the clock to hear some really good music... I miss the music on Midnight Special and Soul Train and I am an old white dude 67 yrs old but this music and Motown was what I listened to... Great reaction, guys... Keep being awesome !!!...
love this
I always loved The Stylistics, great Soul Music that I grew up listening to
I enjoy watching you guys I am an old school fanatic. If you ever get the chance listen to Larry Graham one in a million, when we get married & just be my lady old school classics. God bless you both
Hey Shawn and Mel, I don’t know if you’ll get to this, but if you do, I thought you might enjoy hearing that this song was a kiss when I started going out with my girlfriend who later became my wife. We aren’t married now, but this song does bring back nice memories of that time. Earlier, I watch your reaction to the Ronettes, be my baby, and I said there, but I’ll say it here, since this is more recent, that you, Mel, kind of resemble, Ronnie Spector, the lead singer of the group. Hope to catch you both on your next live broadcast.
Love you both to bits! ♥️Our soul music, aka Motown was amazing! It still stands today! All of it! Especially Marvin! His music timeless! ❤
Great music 🎶
Russell Thompkins Jr is still touring and is just as good today!!! great reaction to a great song
Listen to stylistics you make me feel brand new
No School Like The Old School Right Shawn and Mel
You guys need to add the Delphonics to you catalog, you won’t be sorry.
I Remember hearing this song when I was a teenager, on a single speaker AM radio in my 64 chevy....back then I thought this was a girl singing...oops 😮😬
This takes me back to my childhood days in Philadelphia...❤
Sorry, but these were so good, lyrics and voices. I want my sixties back.
Prince also did this song it was really good 😊.
